Is this what you mean? - you can claim 20c in the dollar for each dollar spent on health in the financial year over & above $1,500 (numbers may have changed...).
So if you spent $3,000, you could claim on 20c * (3,000-1,500) = 300
ok so i added up my medical expences $6162.50 This included private consultations not claimable on medicare,
medicare paid $3521.65 so what does this mean?
You can claim (6162.50-3521.65) = $2640.85 - $1500 = 1140.85 x 20% = $228.17
oh thats not very much.

Ok my tax lasy has told me not to add anything up that has been submitted to medicare as this will show on my statement
