    More than 7 attempts???

I am fairly new to this web site and was hoping to hear from anyone who has received a BFP after 7 or more unsuccessful IVF attempts. I am doing a bit of soul searching at the moment and feel like I need a good news story to keep me going.

    Hi Molly

I wish that I could provide you with a positive story, but I do know that when I was at our IVF clinic after our last FET, talking to the councillor there, she said that until we had passed 10 unsecessful attempts then we were in the 'normal' range (implying we had nothing to worry about - yet)! I know that this is not likely to be comforting, but hang in there, and I really hope that your BFP is not too far away. It is so easy, and totally understandable why you feel disalusioned (we all go there at some time) - but I hope that you find the support here that can help you.

    Good luck

Farmgirl - actually that is really great to hear that 7 is not considered that extreme. No one has told me that before
Good luck and lots of for your TWW - hopefully you will have a positive story for me very soon!!!!

    Hi, mollygirl1977

I can give you a bit of hope, it took me 9 transfers to get a BFP.
Like you I was starting to think it would never happen. Still to this day I find it hard to understand why the other 8 transfers didn't work, then when I finally got pregnant, it was with twins. Don't give up because you never know it could be the next transfer that could work for you.

    Hi Molly
Hang in there! It is a long, tough road with no GPS to know if you will ever reach your destination! We tried for 10 years...tracking with chlomid, IUI, IVF, ICSI, FET...and then threw my hands in the air, spat the dummy...quit my job...moved to the bush...drank way to much...and got the biggest surprise of our lives...two little blue lines...and here we are 15 weeks pregnant!? Go figure?

When I phoned my clinic to tell them we were pregnant they told me that the 2 other girls at the clinic who had been trying for over 10 years had both fallen pregnant in the same month as me...one with a fresh IVF cycle and the other FET. I hope that helps and doesn't put you off...10 years is a long time...but now I have this precious little one growing inside of me it was so worth the wait! I wish you all the luck in the world...best wishes xxx

I fell on my 8th cycle, 7th transfer. They didn't know why it took me so long as the only identified issue I have is blocked tubes. I've since had an FET that was also unsuccessful. So who knows why it works first time for some people, and it takes longer for someone else. There are just some of us for whom it's just not as easy.

But yes, just because it hasn't happened within 7 cycles, doesn't mean it won't happen. A lady I met at my aqua classes fell on her 1st cycle, then with her 2nd child, it took her 12 cycles. Hang in there! It can happen, there is no magic number of cycles uunfortunately. I hope it won't be long now for you.
