Tips for fet and fresh transfers

    Hi everyone,

I'm just wondering what advice you have been given prior and post FETs and fresh transfers. I know you're supposed to take it easy after the transfer, no hot showers or spas following the transfer, no heavy lifting, no s** for a week after the transfer, that type of thing.

But I'm interested to know if anyone has other useful tips prior to and post transfer.

    TIA

    Beata.

    Hi Mods,

Just wondering if I should have posted this some place else seeing I haven't got any responses yet. I thought there were a lot of women on belly going through IVF who might have had some tips.

    Thanks
    Beata.

    Hi Beata,

The only advice my FS gave me post fresh transfer was don't do anything to raise your body temp eg. hot baths, saunas etc, and no intensive exercise. I think you have pretty much covered all the no-no's in your post but I will say that I didn't really rest for much after my transfer, had to get in the car and drive home for a start LOL But I didn't knock myself out either, just went home and had a pretty much normal day, oh and did a little bit of light gardening in the afternoon - it was a morning transfer. It must have all done the trick though because I'm 32 weeks pg from that little embie.

The only other thing which I have been told, and the teller may see this and pop in here with a bit of luck is that strawberries and pineapple core have been suggested to help with implantation.

Best of luck to you hun xx

    Hi Beata,

I have no real tips for you as have not had lasting success but I have tried everything.

Research & my acupuncturist advise sex before a transfer - I think it has something to do with naturally you would have had sex in order to get pregnant (what an odd concept to us LT ACers!) so you are replicating as close as possible the natural order of things.

I've heard Pineapple Juice can help aid implantation.

Not sure about all the resting though - think it's a good idea to lay down for at least 10 minutes after the transfer (this might be difficult if you have a FS who rushes you out) but think normal activity is probably the way to go for the rest of the time. The time I did get my BFP I played the hulahoop game on the Wii Fit about a week into the TWW - maybe my embie was forced to grip onto the sides???

Acupunture and Chinese herbs can help too - there is a sticky thread about this - would link it but I don't know how - sorry.

Really just wanted to wish you heaps of luck, hope your next transfer brings you your BFP. x

    Hi Infinity,

Thanks hun, I have now heard the 'sex before transfer' thing a few times so I'm going to give it a go! lol

I wish you much success in achieving a BFP soon hun, I know it's a hard road but we are good people, we have faith and we have courage, and it will happen for us.

All the best to you sweets.

Hi beata70, I think your list covered it pretty much, but I am not sure about the sex thing though. Probably fine for a fresh collection as there wont be any eggs, but we have been advised NOT to have sex coming up to our frozen transfer. I guess this is b/c presumeably I will still ovulate and there is a small chance that we could concive naturally. Given that I may be having two embies put back 9if they thaw) I am assuming they are worried about the risk of multiples?

Anyhoo... I am sure that the sex thing is fine, especially for a fresh sycle with one embie being replaced

Thanks drbeee, I can see you point. Although we have an almost non existant chance of fertilizing an egg during a FET with DTD, as my hubby's count is zero per so many million sperm, poor bugger! I guess when you have a snip you should look at it as a pernament thing and not hope it can be reversed one day successfully! I was kind of hoping that with DTD the night before it might be nice and sticky in there for the embie, sorry TMI!

Oh yes I can see your point!!

I have multiple friends who conceived naturally after IVF, so its always at the back of my mind that miracles might happen... but the snip kind of scuppers that.

You go girl, and get sticky! (see I can do TMI too! LOL)

LOL (re. getting sticky!) (and thanks for making me laugh - I need it!). The best of good luck to you with the transfer!

Well, I'll be. Pineapples and strawberries! Haven't heard that before - just as well I'm growing some s/b out the back!

Drbeee, I am willing to try ANYTHING! lol. So far, it's the pineapple core/juice and strawberries for me (thankfully I love both) but I'm still researching DTD before and/or after the FET. Hmm, not sure what to do now. I have conflicting advice now

Hey Alice, I've had my share of laughs on belly, they always help!! Thanks for your wishes hun, I would put super glue in there if it meant the embie would stick! ha ha.
Only kidding, I wouldn't do THAT

Best wishes to you both too!

    Hi Beata

I had two IVF cycles with fresh transfer and was lucky the second time around.

The first time I had read about the pineapples juice - it is actually the pineapple CORE that is supposed to help implantation. We had a stressful two hour drive back from the clinic. I went home, put my feet up and really dosed up on slices of fresh pineapple the next day. No luck.

In between cycles I read conflicting info that pineapple can cause contractions . So the second time around I avoided it, but did try the STRAWBERRIES. Rather than combating Sydney traffic we spent the night in Sydney, dined in a lovely restaurant and had an early night. This time = success. I should point out the second time was a Day 5 transfer, instead of Day 6 which is thought to have a slightly higher success rate.

I really do not know if the strawberries helped, or not. But there seems to be a lot of chat about both strawberries and pineapples on the www.

All the best Beata - hope to see a ticker under your signature very soon

    Hi hun,

Thanks so much for your good wishes, I am praying my little embie is strong and resilient and a fighter! I guess the strawberries are worth a go!

Congrats on your BFP hun, and I hope it rubs off on me!
