Just to update. I have so far made it to 10 weeks. I'm still taking pessaries and was wondering when others stopped?

I also picked my son up today and felt a big tear across my stomach so am a little worried about that as its still hurting (I've gone back to bed)

wow- great news Loula- I can't answer your question as I have never gone past 8/9 weeks, but hopefully someone else will know.
Congratulations and good luck for the next 30 weeks!

I stopped P4 at 8 weeks. I also felt that big tear across my tummy (such a weird feeling!) a few days before my 12 week scan. All was fine. If it makes you feel any more reassured, I did find a scientific journal article about the cessation of P4... and after about 8 weeks there is no difference in miscarriage rate regardless of whether you are on P4 or not. Congrats on making it to 10 weeks and I hope you see a beautiful little bub kicking away at your 12/13 week scan.

I was on pessaries until I was 10 weeks with both DD and the twins and then went cold turkey....

I've been on 200mg (2 x pessaries) nightly of P4 since about week 5 as I had continual light bleeding and spotting, which continued for approx 3 weeks after I started P4.
I was told I could stop using the pessaries at the end of week 12, and as of approx 5 days ago, I decided to only use 100mg nightly. Now I'm down to the last week, I'm going to not use it tonight and prob Wed night. My acupuncturist/naturopath told me to wean, not go cold turkey. My GP didn't offer any advice re: weaning.

I also understand there's not much point using P4 beyond Week 12 as the placenta should be producing all you need.

    Congrats on your pregnancy

Thanks. My fs said 12 weeks but my ob said 10 so I was just wondering. I knew the placenta took over by week 12. I've just had a scrip fill so will finish that as its so bloody $$$$ but have dropped to two a day, one morning, one night

I think i started weaning off the pessaries at 10 weeks, finished by 12 (or something like that)
it's so nice not to be using them!

    Hope you're keeping well
