tubal problems, IUI or IVF?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am totally new to all of this.. Is IUI an option if tubal problems are causing the infertility? Or would it be better to go straight to IVF? For some personal reasons, we want to conceive asap.
I am in my early 20s (24) and my partner 30, if our only problem is tubal blocking/scarring, what sort of success rate could we expect with IVF?

i have only one tube left and its all damaged and bloked as i lost the other to a ectopic pregnancy but before that even happend because they were both stuffed we were sent stright to ivf actually getting another ectopic with my second ivf cycle in my tube they already took (the stubb) so i would say its ivf for you my friend i dont think they would even do iui if youve got stuffed tubes ?
anyways ivf rox were now 26 weeks pregnant after ivf # 3

With IUI, the sperm still need to travel through the tube to meet the egg and then the fertilised egg needs to travel back through the tube to reach the uterus. If you've got blockages or scarring that makes a successful IUI or pg far less likely. And an IUI typically has a lower chance of success to begin with (we were told 15-20% for a perfect IUI, vs 50% for IVF). With IVF, the tubes are out of the picture completely as the eggs are removed by the FS and the embryo is placed directly in the uterus.

If it were me, I'd go straight to IVF. But I think that's a lot easier to say after you've already done one (or three in my case) and it seems less scary.

I agree with the ladies.

I have tubal issues (blocked, damaged, scarred) and had an IUI in Feb this year - BFN.

I had my first IVF in June and am now 21 weeks pregnant.

I say go IVF. And at your age, your chances of success are higher.

i've been wondering the same myself as i found out today i have pelvic imflammatory disease again so am likely to have more scarring as it looks like i have possibly had it for a couple months but wasnt properly diagnosed til today so has been untreated.we were hoping to do an iui cycle next month but dont know whether to or not now since unsure whether there is a chance of it working or not

In your circumstance I would be going for IVF. When your reproductive system looks like it may be scarred then i definitely say IVF.

thank you redlady.thats what i was thinking. last night found report from my last laparoscopy and hsg. it said left tube didnt spill dye so probably blocked plus scarring around left ovarian fossa ( i think thats what it was called)
