I am a long time lurker but have just started down the IVF road. I had an appointment with my FS yesterday and he prescribed me Syneral which I am meant to start taking today, but i can find a pharmacy that stocks it! Every pharmacy i have tried has said they need to order it in. So my question is, if i get the Syneral tomorrow, is that too late to start taking it? I called my FS but he is operating all day and his receptionist was not sure of the answer. I am already on the pill. I am a bit stuck! Hoping you knowledgeable girls will be able to help me out!
wouldloveabubba, thanks for your reply and welcome! i am thinking I should be OK to start a day late but being new to this whole process and everything being so daunting... I just want to make sure I do everything right!
We haven't even seen an IVF nurse yet - my FS said to make an appointment to see her next week. My prescription for Syneral was from my FS. I just figured it would be available at any pharmacy!
mmmmmm i have no idea if it will be ok or not i really dont hunny im sorry.
im not sure were you live but i would be rining around hun even if you have to go for a drive to get it ..i would do anything to get my synarel ,i even call all the chemistes well before starting it so they can all order it in cause after coming all the way with the pill i like to know ive got it, to keep all my dates on track .
i would call everyone lol.and your fs should not have left it this long to tell you that you needed syneral.
hope it all works out for you though and you find some quick
I have synarel here - didn't end up using it for endo, the brochure says that you are to start it with your next bleed, not sure if it's the same used with fertility treatment.
I have to admit that I thought it was odd you didn't get and pay for it through the clinic itself. All of my IVF drugs (except the pill) have been through my clinic. It would certainly be worth telling the clinic that you are having trouble so if they continue to prescribe it at least the person would know its hard to get.
Sorry you are having a rough start already.
When and how long to use it
Endometriosis
You should start using Synarel 2 to 4 days after your period begins and continue to use it everyday for 6 months. This is the usual length of treatment for Synarel.
In-vitro fertilisation
You should start using Synarel on either day 2 or 21 after your period begins and continue to use it strictly as advised by your doctor until told to cease treatment. The length of treatment will depend on the success or failure of in-vitro fertilisation. Treatment should be stopped at least 3 days before embryo implantation.

Thanks for all your replies! I knew you girls would be such a wealth of information!
I did manage to find some - i think it was about the 19th pharmacy that I called, and yup, it was a pharmacy at a hospital. Had to leave work early to go grab it! But all worth it for the peace of mind!
Thanks for all your help! Much appreciated - now i can get down to business!
I always get mine straight from my clinic (but have to pay for it on top of the cycle fee) - and now I appreciate it a whole lot more!
I started my synarel smack bang on time for IVF#1 and then got very frustrated when AF was delayed by 2 days (was told synarel can delay AF by up to 5 days). So, for #2 and #3 I've started the synarel a day or two later than I was told to reduce the time I'm taking it. My suppression checks have always been fine. I wasn't on the pill beforehand for any of my cycles.
As the other ladies have said, a hospital pharmacy is probably a good place to try. Also, if there's a pharmacy near your clinic they'd probably be used to having lots of women needing it?
GL and I hope the rest of your cycle goes very smoothly!
Hey I just started the IVF road aswell and its not bad if you start syneral a day late, I did and its all fine. I started my Gonal injections yesterday. Just make sure you have them when your ready to take them, its about day 6. I was told by my IVF doc that syneral is hard to get so its best to get them from the Doc himself if they have them there.
Hi girls - thanks for all your helpful information! i posted a reply yesterday but it didn't show up?
I did manage to get some on the correct day. I am meant to be spraying twice a day, but only got to spray once on the Wednesday. I am reassured by your answers though! I'm not so stressed! I have an appt and blood test with my IVF nurse next Thursday and she will decide when I can start injections! Its all very exciting and very scary at the same time!
Thanks again - you guys are so helpful and supportive!
