12 months TTC, now trying Clomid

    Hi Everyone,

Well, this is my first post and have never posted on anything like this before, but thought what the heck - might be good for the soul.

DH and I have been TTC since May 2009. As I have terrible skin and what seems like a hormonal in-balance I went to the doctor to get tested back in June last year and as such was diagnosed with PCOS. So, we knew that conceiving would be a battle so settled in for the long haul. We decided not to let this dominate our lives, but as the 1 year mark approached my concerns started to heighten so I booked in to see the doctor to see if any other testing was needed, as a consequence was referred to Sydney IVF. After our first consultation he decided that I wasn't ovulating properly or at all so put me on clomid 25mg. Plus referred DH to be checked - everything was in the normal ranges except for Sperm Morphologoy which was 0%, however the doctor said this was not a cause for concern and that we need to concentrate on me. So here I am nearing the end of my first cycle of Clomid, day 27...

Was an interesting experience as I ovulated on day 13, and I have never o'd like that before so clearly this is what it feels like for most women - I had no idea... Plus had a really hard time with wicked mood swings (reminded me of the days I was on Diane the Pill)... Since 5dpo have had dull cramping (never had that before). I took a test this morning which was negative but since AF hasn't come as yet I am still holding out hope, although must admit I am quite deflated this afternoon.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has been through it (well of course there is) but anyone who wants to share their experiences with me.

    Cheers,

Well, I am now on cycle #2, CD 3. Started the Clomid last night (am taking 25mg CD2 - 6). Will be interested to hear if anyone else is on Clomid and how they are going.

Welcome Pumpgirl. I myself haven't been on clomid so can't help you there but lots of girls on here are or have been. There is a thread in conception buddies for ttc longer then 12months and another assisted conception group using clomid they might help. I'll go try find the links for you. Hope the clomid does the trick and you are pregnant very quickly.

    Hi Pumpgirl

Sorry I can't be of much help either. I tried clomid for two cycles in 2006 but my ovaries didn't respond very well so we moved onto injections. While I was on clomid though I did have ultrasounds to monitor my follicle development and an injection of pregnyl to trigger ovulation before BD. I guess you probably had those aswell being at Sydney IVf. In my experience I had a really strong definite ovulation cramp (I have never experienced it before either) when I fell preg with DD1 and DD2, so fx everything went well!

    Best of luck

    Hi Pump Girl

I'm nearing the end of my first clomid cycle too. 25 mg from day 5-9. results = nudda. So they prescribed another 50mg from day 19-23. results = a follicle grew to about 11 mm. Unfortunately not enough.

So the nurse took bloods and the information is conflicting. It could have looked like I ovulated, but the progesterone levels haven't increased and they can't find the deflated follicle (for lack of scientific wording - its currently 1.30 am, can't blame me). So another scan on Monday it is for me.

They were thinking of bringing on a bleed (because I have PCOS and who knows when my next natural bleed will be) but we're going to try avoid doing this just incase. crossing fingers

Have you started the second cycle? Good luck!

Thanks for sharing your story Michelle, sounds like you have had a really rough month :-( ... FX that you get a good result on Monday so you don't need to do a forced bleed.

AFM - I am on CD 21 on my second cycle & this month has been very different to last month.

I joined another thread which is for LT TTC on Clomid - there is a great bunch of girls in there that are all going through the same thing and we share our experiences with each other which is a great support network. TTC can send you insane and throw clomid in to the pot and it can be a really tough road.

Here is the link to the thread, you should drop in and share your story as there could be other girls who have been through it to offer advice:
