I know this thread is pretty quiet but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about redoing a vasectomy reversal....
Our story is DH had a vas reversal in Nov 2007. We fell pregnant in Dec 2007 with our DD who is almost 3.
We started trying for No2 in Sept 2009 and by April 2010 we found out DH had scar tissue develop and therefore a zero sperm count....so pretty much like he had never had the reversal....
We went to the FS and had two choices....IVF or another reversal. I was all for the reversal (we got told 50% of it working) but we got told IVF would probally work out better for us....so we went down the IVF path....Despite my age we got 14 eggs - 6 made it to transfer and we got a BFP on our 1st FET only to MC just before 9wks. Next FET was a BFN and the following FET was a chemical preg. Next stim we got another chemical preg and a BFN from our last transfer....so I guess by body is quite willing to get pregnant but I dont know what quality embryos we are getting. Im on high doses of Gonal F (450-600) and because of my long cycles I stim for about 14-16days. DH's sperm is retrieved via a biopsy so although the FS said he found plenty not sure the quality (we are still using his frizen sample).
Anyhow to get to my point.....we have two embies left which I will be having transfered in the next 10-14days. If these dont work I am leaning towards getting another reversal done.....I am not saying I will give up on IVF but I just think I want to try another way....and this way did work for us the first time......
Has anyone had a reversal in the last few months and knows how much they cost? I know when we had it done in 2007 it wasnt covered at all by medicare but now it is....but Im assuming that means the doctors have jacked up the prices.......We also got it done via a Urologist (he did DH's first reversal so thinking of going back to him again)? Anyone else do this or would it be better to go via the FS (we were referred to a male fetility specialist who performs these operations early on for investigations - so can go back to him if we like)?
I am soon going to be 40 but have had no problems getting pregnant in the past (and family history is that we seem to be pretty fertile into our 40's) so I am kinda leaning towards doing this and if it doesnt work then going to IVF again......Such a tough decision to make.....any opinions?
