    Advice Needed re IUI

    Hi All
I am on my first cycle of IUI. I had the procedure on Day 17 of my cycle and I'm currently day 29 of my cycle. I normally have a fairly regular 28 day cycle so really today should be my first day of my next cycle. I'm currently taking pregnyl 1500 every 3 days and have been doing so since the procedure. I have had AF cramping (constant and very low) for the past 3 days which is very unusual for me.....would normally only get cramping on the day I'm due. What I'd like to know is:
    - can Pregnyl 1500 change the date that AF is normally due?
    - can I take a pregnancy test at this stage........my blood test with the clinic is not due for another 4 days and that wait is just too long!!
Arrrgggghhhhh!!!! This sounds very confusing I'm sure but hopefully someone will understand!! look foward to your help if you can!! xx

given the IUi was on day 17, they're estimating that you o'd later than normal - and as such, AF won't be due til around day 31, not 28. the pregnyl is a progesterone support and will hold off AF's arrival. i wouldn't do a home test until at least four days after you last booster shot - and then take any result with a grain of salt - if it comes up positive, hold onto hope and then test again as pregnyl also contains HCG and can (and does) give you pregnancy symptoms

for a litte insight - i had IUI on the Wednesday of one week, booster shots sunday and thursday the following week. on that sunday (so 10days after IUI) i tested and got a negative result, so knew that pregnyl was out of my system - i started getting BFP's the next day, and continuted getting them over the next few days until the BT on the thursday 15 days after IUI. my numbers were REALLY low, and only just counted as positive on the BT and i needed follow up testing to confirm numbers were going up. i used super sensitive HPT's though...

    hope that helps

    and good luck!

Really suggest you do not test.
Pregnyl can last in your body 7-10 days if very sensitive and will show false positives on a POAS...been there done that..
    Goodluck!

good luck with BT - i have always done a HPT on the day of BT to prepare myself - HPT's aren't always accurate - but getting a negative at home makes it easier to deal with that phone call if i'm out and about kwim? if it came back positive, i took it with a grain of salt and then waited on confirmation...

thanks for the advice....again!!! you have been a huge help for me. One other quick question.......will I get AF at all on Pregnyl and if I don't between now and Tuesday (Tuesday will be day 33) then could that mean I'm pregnant?

pregnyl CAN delay AF, but doesn't always. it's a progesterone support, and it's the drop in progesterone at the end of the luteal phase that heralds the arrival of AF - so if you have support, it might prevent AF visiting. if you had IUI on day 17, and normally have a 14 day luteal phase, you'd expect AF on day 31 - so tomorrow - if you don't get it by Tuesday, you have a fair chance of getting good news. hope so! it's a fab feeling when i works out
