    AF after IUI

    Hi ladies,

If you have read my previous post, the spotting yesterday was unfortunately AF and not implantation bleed... ...just wanted to check with anybody who has done IUI beforehand.... how many DPO did AF arrive on IUI cycle... Now on all my last three IUI's, I've had insemination round about close to the 24 hour mark after trigger shot. Taking into account that ovulation occurs ~36 hours post trigger, would you count day after insemination as 1DPO or what i've been doing and counting 2 days after insemination as 1DPO. (ie. if trigger was on Monday, Insemination on Tuesday, Ovulation on Wednesday and Thursday being 1DPO??) Hoping I haven't confused anybody..... with that method.... AF has arrived 12DPO, 13DPO and now 11DPO... Is this normal to be getting AF this early instead of the normal 14DPO? Does this mean something is not right with the IUI? Not sure if this is of significance... any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry to hear the sad news LisaC :hugs:

I've never had IUI so can't really help you. I hope someone pops in here soon who has some answers.

I just wanted to say I'm sorry for you .

    Hi LIsa
Sorry to hear AF arrived...the reason AF turns up is due to your progesterone level dropping...did you have a blood test 10 days after trigger to check progesterone levels...must be over 10 to show that you have in fact ovulated? If this is the issue they can give you a higher dose of progesterone support after insemination...hope that helps xxx

Hi peakay, thanks for your kind thoughts..

Ellie, Thanks for your reply. I had a BT the first time I did IUI and everything was OK... the last two weren't performed.. When I asked the nurse why i didn't have to have the latest BTs after insemination, she said it was because my levels were OK on the first attempt... and she then had checked my progesterone level before insemination and told me that they my progesterone was high enough and didn't need any additional support after insemination... so...bit lost as to whether this is the reason or not? Bit confused about the whole thing!! All the best Ellie x

Lisa hun - i've done IUI twice, first time, got AF 14 days following IUI (so would have been 12DPO on your theory) and on the second i am still waiting (now 16 days post IUI) - i would be asking them to monitor your progesterone if they ask you to do another IUI hun - just to be sure

so sorry to hear of your BFN - take care

Hi Briggsy's Girl, I might tell them to monitor me closely, although both times I asked, they said my progesterone was OK.. might ask for BT after insemination just to make sure.. Hoping you get a BFP!! Thanks
