Anyone out there who has ovulated early in short cycle?
Hi there,
Just got back today from egg collection for my third attempt at IVF. Was so upset to find out that there were no eggs collected as I ovulated before egg collection!!!
I just don't understand how this can happen. Is there anyone out there who knows about this at all? I am on a short antagonist cycle and I thought the orgalutran (sp??) was supposed to make sure I did not ovulate.
So upset.
Katy
All I know is that EVERYONE ovulates 2 weeks before there period. No matter what the length of your cycle. people with a long cycle have the extra days between period and ovulation. and those with shorter have less days between period and ovulation.
so the only thing I can say is you wouldn't have ovulated early unless the days were misscalculated.
Thanks for replying! I was beginning to feel very loney out here in cyber world or whatever it is...
The 'normal' ovulation pattern of your body is not supposed to matter in IVF as they give drugs to stop ovulation and then drugs to make your body plan for it to happen just after they collect the eggs. The drugs obviously did not work on me.
Yes ... I thought of that. My egg-pickup was booked for 38 hours after trigger injection. On all the sites I have read it says that they should be scheduled for 32 - 36 hours after trigger injection.
Unfortunately my doc headed off to an overseas conference that day so won't be able to get anything out of her until next Tues. Very frustrating.
Hi Katy,
So sorry to hear of your troubles, I can imagine nothing more frustrating and dissapointing, I have had a few cancelled cycles myself. From what I understand the orgalutran is definitely supposed to stop you from ovulating, however I have heard that some women are more senstive or not sensitive enough to some types of drugs, I have heard some women having problems on Syneral also. I am sure your FS would look at this and review another protocol. Have you been on orgalutran for your other cycles, assuming it worked ok for them?
From what I understand it is actually closer to 40 hours from trigger, most FSs schedule EPU at 36 hours which leaves them some time for delays, so I wouldn't think that EPU was done too late, rather you perhaps had a premature LH surge and the orgalutran did not prevent this.
It seems all the FSs are at this conference in Amsterdam. I hope you can get some answers from you FS, wishing you all the best. xx
