    Autoimmune disease and clotting

    Hi everyone,

I have been trying to concieve #2 now for almost 2 years and have ovaries with a polycystic appearance but not the syndrome and irregular, often prolonged periods.

I visited a new naturopath yesterday who thinks I might have autoimmune issues from my family history and from answering her questions. One red flag for her is that I have prolonged periods (often 10days to 4 weeks long!) with LOTS of clots. I have been checked for fibroids and given the all clear. She has seen many women who only discover this when they begin IVF and drs run tests.

I was wondering whether anyone else has had this issue? I have booked a drs appointment for monday to get a full blood count and to check for this. But fingers crossed it can be sorted out without IVF!

    Hi Soph,
I hope that by now you have been able to get some more answers about what is happening with your AF and are well on your way to a BFP!

I was found to have anitphospholipid syndrome which is an autoimmune condition - one of many! I did not really have any probs with my cycle except that it was irregular, but no clotting etc. We finally got our BFP after I started asprin and heparin injections. It was not an easy pathway figuring out what was wrong - we first started IVF due to poor sperm, but after not getting anywhere I asked for more tests where it was found that I had a further problem.

There is a lot of info on BB that might help - at least with understanding some of the questions and tests to ask for. Try https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...y-testing.html and https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...formation.html.

I really hope that you get your answers. Best wishes
    FG
