Just wanted to say hi, I'm new to this sort of thing, I'm basically here to talk to others who might be in the same boat as me. I conceived my first son naturally first go after 1 month of trying at the age of 36yrs. I've now been ttc for a little over a year now (including charting) with no success. I've tried accupuncture, herbs, shiatsu, but all along I thought something else was amiss. My doctor was reluctant to do any testing which was frustrating for me, he just wanted to stick needles in me (accupuncture). I pressured him into doing a thyroid and progesterone test. When I went to see him all I got was more accupuncture, so I said, "So what were the results of my test"? He just said that they were fine! Can you beleive that, no details, no nothing.
So After getting another period, I flipped out and saw another doctor, who immediately gave me a referal to a fertility specialist. I felt so releived that I was doing something positive, as I'm not getting any younger, I turn 39 later this year.
I've had a progesterone test done on day 21, which showed a very low count of just under 10. I am now on my second day of my first cycle of clomid. I feel spaced out, and have to wee a lot. But I feel like I'm heading in the right direction. Ultimately no matter how much input we have, it's still the lottery as to what happens, we just have to give it our best shot.!
Hi there and welcome to Belly Belly. Good on you for seeking out another opinion. I have used clomid successfully - I hope you find it successful also...
I got hot flushes, very cranky and crampy but it is all worth it... I am 39 also (40 in August)..
If you want something you have to push for it. The docs all seem to think that if you've had one naturally, you can do it again and do not take your concerns too seriously. Things can change over time, I think my hormones have never been the same since I gave birth first time round.
hi ther jadens mum welcom to bbi wish you all the best on yor clomid and i am also glad you got a second opinion with another dr as we have had the same trouble our first dr was a twit but now have a really good one im also on clomid this month will be my 4 with no luk as yet but have not lost hope i also was and am a lot like flowerchild and got very moody and cranky with the most terrible hotflushes..lolbut you just tend to get through them and keep going i wish you all the luk in the world i have read a lot of sucess stories about clomid and hope you will be another one all the best hun stay pos
Hi Mum2Jaden,
I tried for almost 2 yrs with my DS & then it was on my 4th cycle of clomid that I had success.
I then fell pg naturally after TTC for approx 6 mnths (while b/f) but m/c at 12 weeks.
I then tried again for 7 months without success & then saw FS for some clomid. I got my BFP on the first round of clomid this time so hoping you have quick success with it also.
I didn't really sufffer too many side effects mainly just a bit crabby every now & then but noting to write home about. Glad you have found yourself a good Dr now & look forward to reading about your BFP soon - all the best!!
Congrats on your pregnancy, I'm feeling positive about being on clomid.
I do feel strange on it, but it will be worth it. I always say go with your instincts on everything regarding your health.
Hi Kazz, sounds like we're in quite similar situations. My son is about to turn 3 and I've been TTC for about 18 months. fell pregnant naturally just after my first visit to the FS but miscarried. I'm nearly 37 and feel i don't have time to wait for things to happen naturally again so I'm picking up where I left off with the FS and have just finished my first 5 clomid tablets (only 25mg though). My sister is pregnant with a clomid baby (her first) and I'm hoping it will give my hormones the boost they need to conceive again before too long. I'm not being monitored though, just doing my own charting. I'm glad to find someone else who's just started out, and I hope clomid does the trick for both of us...
I guess we can be clomid buddies. I love hearing success stories about clomid, it gives me great hope! I will be wishing you all the best for a positive result.
Thanks Kazz - I hope we both get our BFPs before too long (I barely have any patience left!). Before my pregnancy my FS had recommended IUI due to my husband's borderline low sperm count, but now she's saying not to worry about that for now. I'm really really hoping that I'll get pregnant soon and won't have to go down that road.
Have you finished your round of clomid yet? How are you feeling?
I too was told about IUI as a possible angle down the track if everything before it failed, and I would rather not go down that road if possible. So here's to a positive BFP.
I'm feeling really strange on this clomid, yesterday was my last tablet and I'm feeling kinda antsy like I gotta do stuff, but at the same time I'm really tired. How are you feeling after taking the tabs?
Can't wait to see FS for ultrasound to check out follicles. You know I had to ask to be monitored, otherwise I was just going to have my blood test for progesterone and that was it.
You find out so much information on this site, it keeps you informed.
Fingers crossed.....
Kazz

I had some nausea while taking the tablets, but that seems to have passed now. I feel exhausted and a bit weird today but that might just be due to interrupted sleep - DS has been waking up at night.
My FS has me taking clomid on on days 5-9, then BD on days 12, 14, 16, 18, 20. Was your advice something similar? Do you have ultrasounds throughout your cycle, or do they just pick a day close to probable ovulation?
I just saw my FS yesterday for a quick ultrasound and he found a ripe follicle on the right hand side, so it's down to business now!!! I'll have a BT in a week and a half to check out the progesterone levels, if he's not happy with them he will increase the dose of the clomid, for my next cycle.
I took the clomid on days 3-7 and the nurse told me to have sex on days 12-17 of my cycle!! and to monitor ovulation with a home ovulation kit to help pinpoint the actual day/s.
I don't think the ultrasound was that necessary now that I've had it done, maybe if I was on higher doses of clomid it would make sense to keep an eye out for ovary hyperstimulation, which is a serious matter!
At least I'll be busy this week trying to make babies, but am not looking forward to the TWW.!!!!!
Are you a few days ahead of me cycle wise? Are you in the TWW yet?

Hi newjob, hope clomid does the trick for you. I'm also on 25mg.
Kazz, sounds like you'll be very busy this week! I'm relieved I was only told to BD every second day!! As for me, I'm on CD 17 but whether I'm in the TWW or not I've no idea - this is only my second cycle since my m/c and things have been a bit weird with cycle length and temperatures. My last cycle was 33 days (O'd on day 20, according to Fertility Friend) which is a few days longer than it had previously been. I guess I'm probably in the TWW but I still have a couple more BDs to do, just in case! At least then I can tell my FS I followed instructions...
I o'd on day 15, thank god.....We BD'd every second day instead of everyday like the nurse told us to....it's up to fate now.....
Having BT on Saturday to check progesterone levels, as I personally think this has been my problem in getting pregnant, this will confirm or dismiss my thoughts on this subject once and for all!!!!!!!!
The TWW is an unpleasant place to be for anyone....it just goes on forever, must keep busy with other things. My son has a terrible cold at the moment and I usually catch everything he's got, but this time I havn't, I hope it's a positive sign!!!
Anyway must go and good luck to everyone out there.....
