    Question DH involvement

    hi there
i have had a tubal ligation 3 years ago and DH and i are about to embark on IVF and FET shortly. My DH has his own transport company and was wondering if anyone knows how many appts he will have to attend. i know he will need to be at our first sit down consult in two weeks, plus he will need to go for blood tests, but considering his little swimmers are fine, does anyone know how many samples he may have to give as we are hoping to freeze his lil swimmers! the amount of appts wont be a problem, he just wonders if anyone has any idea coz we may have to organise a relief driver. Like he says we still need to make a living to afford all the IVF costs.

    Hi

my DH came to every one with me, bit different though as we work near each other in the city. If his seman analysis was OK he should only have to provide another one on the day of your pickup. I would want him there that day also for moral support and a ride home as well, as you won't be able to drive yourself and you won't be in there for very long.

    Good luck

    Hi there,

Mine was only present for the original appointment, my laparoscopy and OPU as I needed an escort but otherwise, I did everything by myself.

    Good luck.

I'm so glad you asked this question Sonya - my DH is a truck driver and currently working locally - has been asked if he'd be interested in going long distance again and we were wondering how it would impact the ttc efforts - we'd obviously prefe to have him home, but the financial benefits of him going away again..........

    definitely lots to consider!

Im glad that you asked this question too as my husband works ALL over Queensland and he would be here if I needed him in a heartbeat but sometimes it would be better financially if he stayed working he could also return home sooner.
Does he only have to give the one semen sample, even if we go thru numerous attempts?

Generally speaking, if you need to do more than one opu, your dh will be expected to provide a fresh sample each time. But if work commitments are an issue, he can probably provide a sample to freeze before the event.
