DHEA - to take or not to take? Opinions....

I have just seen a new FS who is recommending I take DHEA for four months (75mg a day) before my next stim. My other FS would not prescribe it, and I know a lot of others wont either. There was some talk of it negatively affecting female embryos....

I am conflicted. I have done a bit of reading and it seems to have good success rates. There are studies "proving" its safety.

I am desperate but I am still unsure.

Anyone taken it and had success? Anyone taken it and not had success???

    thanks

No personal experience but I know a woman who finally conceived using DHEA at 42. Healthy baby girl.

LB, it's particularly good (apparently) for women over 35 or those with low AMH (premature ovarian failure).

N2l I that is what I have been on for the last few months, can't answer about success yet as we haven't done another ivf. Haven't fallen naturally yet whilst on it. I am hoping it helps, I figured anything was worth a try as much as I hate popping pills everyday.

I think it all comes down to your personal choice on how you feel about trying it.

I would give it a go N2L, esp if an FS is willing to prescribe it. Would be interesting to do one cycle and see what happens. GL!

I've been taking it for over a fortnight now Sarah.

I have found these past couple of days my hair and skin is a bit more oily and I have felt tense and headachey. A bit like PMT iykwim. I guess it makes sense as it's a male hormone.

Everything I have read says you need to take it for four months for best effect.

Good luck! (to all of us!!!)

I took it for low AMH at 28 and ended up with a healthy baby girl
Who knows if it was the DHEA that actually did the trick, but you try anything when you are desperate!!
    Good Luck xx
