Hello - has been a while since i posted a question here - mostly i lurk !
I started thinking about who uses progesterone pessaries and who doesn't - my first ivf cycle, my FS did not have me on pessaries after the transfer, but my SIL did use them - and she had a BFP - we were both doing a full egg collection cycle. I know it's a total "we'll never know" scenario, and i'm ok with that, but i'm wondering if the pessaries made the difference.... i know there are alot of possible reasons actually, and the pessaries may not have anything to do with it!
This time round, i'm just doing the FET, and i'm using pessaries already, and have been told i will use them to atleast the BT, and if it's a BFP, then possibly stay on them for a bit. I was not told that i'm using them because last time my progesterone levels were low or anything, i'm assuming i'm on them because it's a FET cycle.
Sorry, this is turning into a long-winded post ! Just interested to hear of others experiences, and what different FS do.
Thanks for reading

My first EPU and transfer, I was on Crinone for the 2ww, then switched to pessaries for the first trimester. Was also taking provera and progynova tablets for the same time as well. Not sure why though?
I was on pessaries and crinone for my stim cycle. I have always had break through bleeding with my cycles and the thought was that if the lining of the uterus was starting to come away a week after transfer, how could an embryo stick? So I was on pessaries and crinone twice daily. Ended with a -ve BT result.
For the FET, I was on pessaries from the night before transfer up until BT. A week after BT, with a +ve result, I started bleeding and was put back on pessaries until 10 weeks into pg.
Some clinics monitor levels of progesterone when they do BT and can work out if you need additional support. Ours didn't but I requested pessaries as support, knowing that I wouldn't make it 2 weeks to BT day without progesterone support.
Thanks for your responses sue, nic and kaydee - it's good to learn of how other cycles are managed. I'm pleased i'm on the progesterone pessaries (a bit annoying to insert, but anyhoo...) atleast i feel like i'm doing something each day to improve my chances - my first egg collection cycle, i had 1 injection of pregnyl after the et, then that was all.
Sue are you doing an egg collection, or FET this cycle? Best wishes to you! I'll be posting in the tww after my FET tomorrow!
I had Crinone once a day for my first two IVF Cycles, third full stim cycle, we used pess x 2 - no joy
This cycle we will try Crinone twice daily each day - my suggestion might I add, as the chemist told me 2 crinone are stronger than the pessaries .
A tip, I hope anyone doesn't need, I kept my left over new packets of crinone from each cycle, and picked it up (as it's free) on my Prog Pess cycle, even though I wasnt using it. So now I have enough to use the two a day, as it is quite expensive to buy if I am lucky enough to need it to 12 weeks .
