    Question Estrogen Dominance/Low Progesterone?

    Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone else out there had been diagnosed with estrogen dominance and/or low progesterone? And if so what is being done to treat it? My naturopath suspects that this could be contributing to the problems DH and I are having and has put me on a herbal mixture (ewwwww) and supplements including zinc and calcium/magnesium. (I have PCOS) Has anyone used the natural progesterone creams and was there any improvement in their symptoms?

Lots and lots of baby dust to everyone this month. I seem to be surrounded by BFPs in my family right this second so surely they can spare some!

    Hi Lily

When I went to a naturopath, she diagnosed me with this too. I had a salivary progesterone test which showed that my progesterone levels were very low.

I went on a herbal remedy (know what you mean about ewwww!) as well as some natural progesterone tablets (can't remember the name of them).

After a while, I decided to return to the 'medical specialists' for more help...I was really disappointed as they basically pooh-poohed the progesterone test, saying that they are notoriously inaccurate...I still actually believed that I was low in progesterone...but it was clear the doctors weren't that supportive of it...

Anyway...I decided to eventually stop the herbs and naturopathy treatment...mainly because I was finding it all a bit stressful. The naturopath I was seeing was suggesting so many changes in my lifestyle, that I found I was constantly feeling stressed because I wasn't quite "making the mark"...so decided to take a break from it...

Eventually ended up at a fertility specialist...went through a whole battery of tests and then was put on clomid...which I heard was a "hormone turbo booster". I was incredibly fortunate to get a BFP first cycle of clomid...

We had unexplained infertility. I still think that my hormones were to blame...and blood tests did show that I was on the "low" side of progesterone...

Anyway...wanted to wish you all the very very best...lots of baby dust to you!

BTW...I am in no way anti-naturopathy treatment...I love the philosophy behind it...I found that eventually it was a combination of a whole lot of things that helped!
