i am going to my gp tomorrow for some tests before i go to a fs... i thought i may as well get a start on the tests before going
soooo what tests should my gp be doing... my mum told me definitely testosterone.. egg reserves... what else...

Sperm analysis, progesterone, check for ovulation, check for blocked tubes etc...but all the things that could be suggested your fs will do again anyway. A general health checkup?

Have you been charting? If so, I'd take in 6 months worth of charts. If not, it's worth giving it a go.

You can ask for CD 3 and 7dpo (aka cd21) tests. They look at estrogen, progesterone, prolactin & FSH & test for ovulation. Your FS will measure AMH as well.

It's also worth testing things like iron levels, vitamin d, liver function, folic acid, thyroid function, zinc & magnesium, immunity to rubella, pertussis and CMV. To save mucking about later, I recommend getting tested for Factor V Leiden & anti-phospholid antibodies.

    Varicella, insulin resistance....

There will probably be some tests the gp won't do but the FS will.

    Good luck!

PS. FSH AND AMH are tests for egg reserves. Also, as PZ said, your DP must get tested too.

I just got all the basics first including vitamin D, iron etc. I saw an OB first and he sent me to get the more fancy ones like the others have suggested.

I also got them to check whether all my immunisations were ok, or whether I should get any boosters JIC.

Most fs like to redo a lot of tests particularly sperm analysis with their own pathology. It's probably A really good idea to get a general health check so things like rubella, iron, vit d, day 21 hormone check. If you end up goingdown the IVF path you will have to have hep and HIV done so you might want to throw those in also.

    Good luck

well i had my app today... have a whole pile of blood tests to get done but have to wait about a week for right cd.
progesterone, fsh, lh, thyroid, e/lft(electrolytes and liver function), fbc(blood count), blood group, abo&rh and screen, hep b, c, hiv, syphilis, rubella tests, testosterone, shbg(sex hormone binding globulin) and prolactin. i have no idea what a lot of those are... lol.
she also ordered a pelvic ultrasound with dye studies so i may not have to get a lap and dye done later on... much cheaper too.
and she wrote out a referral to the fs as well.... i will wait til i have all this done and get the results before making an app though, just so i know where i stand.

Sounds thorough. Make the appointment anyway. It may take a while to get in. You can always cancel later on.

I agree with lionsandbears, make the appointment, often it can take a little while to get in.
