    Question HCG/Pregnyl - very unsure

Does anyone have any experiences they can share about Pregnyl injections?
I have filled a script for it and am now unsure whether I should go ahead....
My FS sent me the script with a brief (and uninformative) letter as I live in a fairly remote area and have to travel interstate to go to the clinic.

Although all LH blood tests show I ovulated strongly last month and everything looks great and normal with US etc, my luteal phase is a bit short. Previous to this month FS had indicated that she thought main issue was DP's swimmers... only 25% are up to speed though there are lots of them... so I am confused about taking the Pregnyl, but don't want to turn it down if it could be the solution.

Just a bit scared I think and a bit disappointed that doing it naturally seems like a pipedream now

    any help appreciated.

    Hi

I'm not really too sure. I have normally taken pregnyl to trigger ovulation to help with timing for an IUI or IVF. I normally take progesterone supplements (crinone) to extend my luteal phase, but I think I have heard of pregnyl helping with that too.

What type of cycle are you doing?

Overall I didn't have a problem with the pregnyl it just makes you feel a little bit pregnant for a few days until its out of your system (breast tenderness/slight nausea), so I guess it can't hurt. I also gave hubby menevit which although not miraculous did somewhat help with his swimmers "speed/motility".

Best of luck, hope you can find some answers there are many very experienced ladies here with heaps of helpful advice!

Pregnyl shots can also be used to support your luteal phase as the hormones promote an increase in progesterone levels.
25% is not all that bad actually! Good luck with your cycle

Thanks MM, glad to hear that you didn't have any problems with Pregnyl. This will be the first thing we are trying which isn't 'natural'. My cycle is great aside from the short luteal phase (and shocking PMS but that is just normal for me!) DH is 38, am 31 and we are trying for our first.
Thanks to both of you for the good wishes, I guess I am just feeling a little uniformed by my FS which is disappointing... and feeling sad that we may need to rely on western medicine to make it happen on our timetable... cest la vie! As long as it happens eventually
