    Miscarriage after Clomid

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has experienced an early miscarriage after Clomid. Does it increase your chances? Are you more fertile after a miscarriage?

After my first course of Clomid i fell pregnant After trying to conceive after a year absolute elation when i got a bfp. Unfortunately i miscarried at 5 weeks. Just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation and how long until you were back on clomid.
My cycles were previously 6-9 weeks, it feels like it is going to take so long until we can start trying again. Has anyone else heard you are more fertile after a miscarriage? Did anyone who was on Clomid ovulate on their own after a miscarriage?

    Thanks any information would help.

Hi Sorcha welcome to Belly Belly. I am so sorry to hear of your loss...
Women with fertility issues have statistically higher miscarriage rates than women without. Clomid does not give you a higher risk of miscarriage. Simply being in a group of women that require fertility treatment does... I had 3 very early miscarriages when I was TTC and using clomid. But please rest easy that the clomid does not make your chances higher.

I know antecdotally we hear that a woman is more fertile after a miscarriage but this isn't scientifically based. Studies show that you are no more fertile after a miscarriage. I personally have conceived the next cycle right up to 6 months after a miscarriage. It will just depend on your body. I commenced clomid immediately after my 3 chemical pregnancies - I didn't want to wait and my obs was happy with that. This baby in my belly now was conceived 2 cycles after a chemical pregnancy using clomid.

I wish you well my love. It is just so sad and upsetting to have your dream snatched away. Sending you lots of love as you heal through this time...

    Sorcha,

I'm sorry for your loss. I was sort of in the same boat as you. FINALLY a BFP on our second round of Clomid 50mg, and miscarried at 5w5d.

I have heard that you are more fertile after a miscarriage, and in my experience I believe I was. I would have gladly TTC, but DH left for Afghanistan 2 weeks to the day after my M/C so there was not time.

I had increased EWCM, and increased O pain, all the signs that told me I was fertile for about 3 months after my M/C.

Our doctor told us that if I happened to ovulate before Dh left that it would be okay to TTC as my body just acted like my AF was delayed with the miscarriage. That may not be your case, but I can tell you that I had 4 regular 28 day cycles with O on days 14-17 in those months. I am now back to my wishy washy cycles again, but I really wish DH had been able to be here and we could have tried again.

We are about to start a Clomid/injectable cycle in september. We'll see what that brings.

It is hard to wait. I know where you are coming from.
I wish you lots of luck, and a sticky bean soon!

I have been charting my temperature for the first time. It is now day 21 (counting day 1 as my miscarriage date) and my temperature went up by 0.3 degrees. So not too sure if that has meant anything but listening to my body to get any other signs as well.

I have an appt on sept 24 with my obst to start back on 25mg Clomid, We have planned a holiday to Thailand in two weeks to get my mind off things and to ease that waiting time.

Please keep me up to date with how you go, and wishing you the best of luck.

    Sorcha,

Between deployments and such we have been TTC for almost 3 years, actively... 5 years with breaks. FINALLY we got some hope with the clomid, and then with the BFP. It's hard to get any help with the military medical community.

For us Clomid was a success that I DID ovulate timely, and then that I DID get pregnant. I do believe that if DH were here we would be pregnant now.

I know how disappointing it is to come so close and then to be so heartbroken. I'm glad you are going to take a break, and in Thailand no less!

I would keep tracking your temps. a 0.3 temp rise that is followed by at least two more temp rises, and then sustains can indicate that you have Ovulated. My first O after my miscarriage was on CD18, and AF followed that 11 days later.

I wish you the best of luck. keep us posted! I have everything crossed for you.
