question about ovulation induction: serophene (aka clomid) and the pill
Hi everyone.
I have a question. I start my first Serophene cycle at the end of July. :-D Ecstatically happy that we are finally at this stage, after months of tests.
I have a question - I am on the pill (prescribed by my FS) because of PCOS, and have not been whether to stay on it, or stop taking it. I will be ringing my FS today or tomorrow to find out for sure, but have heard two conflicting pieces of info from the net (yes the net, evil place when your looking for medical info).
One says that I need to be off the pill for some time, to let my cycle regulate naturally, before I can start trying to conceive.
The other says that the pill is used to induce AF and once AF is here, then you stop taking it and start taking Serophene (or Clomid) on CD2.
Both seem logical. Just wondering if anyone has been on the pill before starting a Serophene/Clomid cycle, and what did the FS do (make you stop and wait for your cycle to regulate, or use the pill to induce AF?).
I know, the best thing to do is ask my FS, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has been down this road, and just wondered what they had to do.
DId you manage to get an answer from your FS. I would assume that you can came straight off the pill and onto clomid, as it will help you make the hormones you need to get your cycle going. It does take some people months to get a normal cycle back after the pill, and if you have PCOS might take a while.
I used clomid after coming off the pill to get me Oing more regularly, but I had been off the pill for 6 months...
I think you are right though to check with your FS.
Good luck with your cycle!
