    Home Pregnancy Tests

I know they (IVF clinic) tell you not to but I just can't help myself and I have done a test the last 3 times. This is our 4th transfer and again I did a test. Except this time I did earlier than previously (last 3 times was 2 days before my official test). My official test is this coming Wednesday. I took the test yesterday (Saturday, 4 days before official test) and got a negative. Even though the test I used said it's 99% accurate 5 days before your period is due - do you think I could have done it too early? (I guess I'm looking for a glimmer of hope that it could be wrong).

Part of me is saying it was too early and the other part is saying, it's a negative like the other times (I'm getting cramps like I did the other times, I know Crinone makes me crampy, but these do feel like period cramps, just like the last 3 times and how I get a few days before my period is due).

I did a HPT 2 days prior to my bt on 11dpo and it came back negative, and it was +ve at BT. Though I'd had 7 unsuccessful cycles prior to that so believed the HPT at the time, and turns out it was wrong that time. I also know of a couple of members who got a -ve hpt on the day they got +ve BTs.

I was the POAS queen back when I was doing IVF, but I never saw a +ve hpt until AFTER I already found out I was pg from a BT.

So no I don't think a -ve hpt means you're out of the running yet.

it's one of those forever questions - i would say the only way to know for sure is via BT - i had very low numbers to start out with (only registered a strong positive after BT) but we're still going strong

I am one of those people Sushee was talking about.

I did a POAS on the morning of BT one cycle and got a BFN.

My BT later that day confirmed a BFP..

So I ALWAYS say, it aint over til a BT says so.

    All the very best

Thanks for that. I guess those stories are why they tell you not to test, to save you unnecessary worry. I'm still convinced it's negative though, due to the nature of my cramping. Oh well two more days and I'll be put out of my misery. I find the two days before the official BT the hardest.

I agree with you there. The first week is full of hope, the second week lasts forever, and those lasts two days are hell esp if you're POASed and didn't get that elusive 2nd line. Big . I hope the HPT was wrong.
