    Provera isnt working, BCP?

Has anyone taken provera before and it hasnt brought on AF? FS has asked me to go and see him and he will do a blood test and if it shows that nothings happening he said i will have to go on BCP for a few weeks to bring on AF?! Has anyone else been through this?

    provera

    Hi there

I have very little bleeding after Prover, actually I cannot even call it a bleed, maybe just spotting. I have not menstruated for 4 years so i was not really expecting to.

Have you had an ultrasound, did the lining thicken up?

    Hi ltl Panda,

Im waiting for results from FS today in regards to hormones and if it doesnt look like i have just ovulated or ovulating soon then he said he will put me on BCP to bring on AF. Thats all i know so far. He hasnt mentioned anything about an ultra sound though.

    Hi WalkingArt.

I read this thread the other day, but didn't think I had anything to add, as provera worked for me.

But I was just reading through an old email from a friend of mine who did some research into some PCOS questions for me (she's a gyn reg).

I was initially worried that I had been mis-diagnosed with PCOS as I don't fit the standard profile, and her email addressed the other possibilities of what could be causing me absolutely non-existant menstrual cycle. One of those things is increased prolactin levels, but the thing that counted against that is that in cases of increased prolactin, provera will not work.

Perhaps it would be worth checking with your FS that your prolactin levels have been checked?

Thanks all for your responses but after 12 days since my last provera tablet AF has finally arrived thankfully.

You sound a lot like me WalkingArt. It took 14 days for provera to induce my period and then I ended up with vaginitis. But on the high side after this month of feeling bloated, sore, extremely irritable and not wanting DH anywhere near me we ended up with our BFP the next cycle. Fingers crossed for you.
