    IUI - My journey

Hi Ladies, I had my first IUI on the 1st April 2010... (taking that superstitious thing as a good thing lol)

I am going to QFG in Toowoomba, heard lots of good feedback, and experienced the same.

Wednesday I had my ultrasound at 10am and showed 2 "beautiful" follicles at 18/19 and 1 at 13.... then had the trigger shot of pregnyl.... (doctor said beautiful)

TMI - not long after, but i had EWCM... and as we had to go out of town for this procedure... I had a terrrible night sleep and actually woke up crying from a dream... kept thinking that HAS to be the hormone pregnyl... (asked nurse and yes... lol she called me a dag.....)

Hubby did his thing at 10am... was 107million/ml with 68% good ones... got washed and got down to 21mill/ml with 75% good ones....

We then drove home 3hr drive.. and all arvo felt leaking... but also felt little sharp stabbing type pains.. so hoping that was ovulation......and i get the egg meets sperm success I want.....

just wanted to share..... :-) will know i guess in what... 2weeks??

had a couple drinks last night though.. and 2cups coffee this morning.. BUT no alcohol from now on in......lots of water instead....

oh, does anyone have any tricks/old wives tales to make it stick?

Hi Daisy. How did you go? We had success on our third round of IUI, just as we were preparing to move to IVF

Smile IUI pretty hit and miss

I know these threads are old, but I was reading up as I just had an IUI. Im almost finished my wait, but Im pretty sure it wont work. Im a few months of 42, and had the Anti-Mulerian Hormone Test to indicuate ovarian reserve and it was pretty low. Im a bit frustrated the Fertility specialist even suggested an IUI to be honest. Ive been reading up on US websites and Im understanding my chances are so tiny on IUI at my age in comparision with IVF. As for Pregnyl, yep its just side effects that make us have "pregnancy symptoms" but we arent even pregnant.

I do think IUI is so hit and miss. I mean Im sure I was ovulating the day before I was told to come in and get inseminated. Its very forumulaic and not individual, I found. giving everyone 3 shots of Pregnyl after, why is everyone on 3?? Also, the first bloods at day 10. I had my insemination at day 7, as I insisted to the nurses I was on very short 19 day cycles. So, its quite unreliable in comparision, and if it doesnt work, I really dont think it will, Im not going to bother doing another go again, its expensive $2500 for one go!. Straight to IVF unfortunately, but what can we do! This is with donor sperm bank so even makes it all haarder.
