    Question IVF: Endometrium Thickness

    Hi All,
I'm just after some advice please.
I'm doing an IVF FET cycle and am taking Ethinyloestradiol (Oestrogen) tabs to manage the cycle.
Had first ultrasound last Thursday (12/7), endometrium thickness was 5.7mm, (I think they like it to be 6mm or more) had second ultrasound today (16/7) and thickness hasn't changed.
Have to keep taking the tabs and have another ultrasound on Wednesday (18/7).
Has anyone had similar happen and if so what was the outcome?
I'm worried that they might have to cancel the cycle if it doesn't thicken enough.
    Thanks
    Mandy

    Hi Mandy,
I have known of someone on another site who was on drugs for her lining for about 3 weeks longer than "normal" . they just kept sending her back for an ultrasound every week until her lining was thick enough. It was only creeping up by milimitres a week but eventually it got there. good luck,

    Hi Anney,
That's good to know. I was thinking they might cancel the cycle, but if it's prolonged a bit, then I can cope with that. Good luck to you too.
    Thanks

Had another ultrasound today and endometrium is now 6.1mm which means the cycle is back on track.

    Hi Mandy

I've done 4 cycles and the first 3 my lining wasn't thick enough for transfer.
After doing some research on what I could do to help this, the easiest and best way to thicken your lining is a session/s of acupuncture.
My lining on all of my cycles was around 8mm, but FS said it was still not as thick as he would like for implantation of the embies.
After doing acupuncture on my last cycle, my last scan before transfer showed my lining at just over 13mm.... What he said was perfect.

When I suggested to him that I would try acupuncture to help, he was very sceptical and said he didn't think it was worth bothering... after the scan, both he & the nurses were amazed... and he even asked me for my practitioners card so he could pass it along to other women with the same problem!!!

You may need more than one session (I had it throughout the cycle weekly), but if you're already at 6mm now, one or two sessions may be enough. (I was nowhere near that thickness at the current stage of your cycle)
Not sure whereabouts you are, but most women here can recommend someone for you to try.

We can all highly recommend it in the LTTTC thread.. some of us (like me!) swear by it.... Would definately be worth a try!! Just make sure you see someone that works with infertility, and IVF - which I have found is most practitioners anyway!!
    Good Luck xxx

    Hi Holly,
Thanks for your advice. Wow 13mm, I don't know whether I'll make it to anything like that, that sounds amazing.
I've actually been seeing an acupuncturist since starting IVF as I've heard about the benefits. I find it a good form of relaxation too, and look forward to my weekly appointments. I had a session yesterday and have another booked for next Monday (a couple of days before I'm due to have transfer). Hopefully that will help to thicken things up a bit more and make the embys stick around this time.
Take care and hope you get a BFP really soon .
    Mandy
