This is my first IVF cycle and the two week wait is doing my head in.
My doctor is having a few (deservered) days off and so I can't get in to see her until Tuesday. Can I do a HPT in the meantime or will the ivf drugs skew the results. I had my EPU on Friday June 8 (so I did the trigger injection on Wednesday June 6) and then I had the ET on Monday June 11.
Any suggestions?
To top it all off, I feel like AF is coming, I've had every side effect from Crinone under the sun and now I have a cold. I don't know how I am going to stay sane until my BT on Tuesday.
Hi Lillypilly,
I have had several ivf cylcles (icsi) i was told that if you are doing simulated cycles
ie producing own egss, doing egg pick up and then fresh transfer the drugs are different from those of a frozen cycle. You can do a home test if doing a frozen cycle but if you go the 1st way i explained no point in doing home test as the drugs in your system are almonst pretending you are pregnant and the test will not be accurate. If you make it to the blood test day without a period your chances of being pregnant are very very good however if you get a period prior to blood test day well you basically are not pregnant.
I have had two preganancies and both times i thought AF was coming but she never arrived - its very normal to have AF symptoms at this stage. Just hang in there - easier said than done i know - i think the TWW is the worst it is the TWW from hell. Wishing you all the best honey and hope you get that BFP.
Hi Lillypilly
It really depends on the drugs you have had post EPU...if you've only had crinone since EPU and transfer than you can test 2 weeks post EPU...but if you've had any HCG shots (like your trigger) a HPT will show as positive anyway...I have only ever had crinone and tested at about 13 days post EPU...and as for AF symptoms like Lissie said...very common at this stage...hang in there...looking forward to hearing how you go!!!! Best wishes xxx
if you are on pregnyl for progesterone supportin the TWW, you won't be able to do a hpt without fear of a false +ve. If you used any other type of progesterone support, you can hpt away!
Thanks for all your advice. I caved in this morning and did a hpt (it's been 16 days since my EPU and 13 since my ET) and I got a very very faint second line.
I'm just taking provera tablets and crinone gel at the moment (no pregnyl injections) so hopefully it's not a false positive from the ivf drugs.
Not trying to get too excited just yet because I don't want to get my hopes up.
But fingers crossed that it will be confirmed at my BT on Tues!!!!
Lillypilly, I'd imagine that it's been more than enough time for any of the pregnyl to get out of your system (I'm thinking 18 days, yes?), so I'd say as faint as that positive is, it's definitely a real one.
