I am having a lap and dye and hysterscope in 2weeks and was just wondering when the surgeon will give me the results? I am hoping the day of surgery but wasn't sure if I have to wait till my 6week post op appointment. I am having day surgery (hopefully). Do they come and see you between cases in day surgery or recovery or how can I expect to find out the results? Depending on the results of the surgery depends on when we start ttc again or start down the IVF road so I was really hoping not to need to wait 6weeks to find out the verdict.
It often depends on the Dr. My Dr's "intern" came and spoke to me after the surgery to tell me my tubes were blocked - that was it (it wasn't handled well at all) but I was still so sedated that it was only lucky that my DH was with me and he explained it to me again later. To be honest if they try to tell you as you're coming around in recovery have someone with you - as you might not remember it all.
Otherwise they will ask you to wait for your follow up appt. Although some Dr's may let you call their clinic to get results over the phone?
Hi Emmy83,
When I had a lap my doctor came to see me afterwards both in recovery and in the ward to give me a general rundown on what they found. But, for example, to confirm endometriosis properly they need to have it biopsied which isn't done on the same day. But they should be able to tell you the major points of how it goes on the day.
All the best with it.
Thank you both Ninah and Sapphire for your replies. I hope I get some news the day of the surgery. The wait seems to be taking forever and 6weeks post surgery is Christmas and no doubt it will be mid January before I can get in to see him again. FX for me some answers Ill get next week. Thanks again
My FS came to tell me what he found, later on that same afternoon. He came to the room, told me what he found, had a quick chat, told me we would need to do IVF and IUI was no longer an option, checked me over to see if i was ok to go home, and told me to make an appointment with him about a week later on i think it was? for us to discuss IVF.
Goodluck, hope everything goes well for you.
If they say 6 weeks before making an appointment, maybe ask if they mind you making an earlier appointment to discuss the next step?
