I have had a problem with short LP, and started taking Blackmores B6 (240mg). Not realising this was a large dosage, I happily took this - and it made a significant change to my LP (as well as significantly improving my PMS). It was mentioned to me that this might be counterproductive to TTC, as large dosages could be harmful to new embryo.
I stopped taking it and started on Blackmores Conceive Gold, which has B6 (50mg)........BUT, this cycle has dropped back to a 9 day LP (and fercious PMS).
Does anyone have experience with this, or know what the safe levels of B6 are in a TTCer?
I have a conception/pregnancy book that states that more than 100mg a day in the 1st trimester can be harmful to a developing baby. The authors are reputable, so I trust it I've been taking Conceive Well Gold plus a 50mg B6 tablet by Thompson's. I got that one at my local health food shop.
My LP has lengthened from 9 days to 14 days last cycle, but I must admit I am also having LP support in the form of prog pessaries, as well as taking Clomid, all of which can lengthen your LP. So who knows really if the extra B6 has worked for me! I figured that taking the B6 as well couldn't hurt
I've just seen my doctor today and he told me to take 125mg B6 throughout my whole cycle for PMS and to improve cervical mucus.
He also suggested staying away from high dose vitamin C supplements because they interfere with cervical mucus quality.
Once you're preggers you can drop back to a standard pregnancy multi vitamin - although I would check this with your GP in case mucking about with dosages just when bubs is trying to stick causes any problems.
Hope this helps,

I took 100mg from CD 1 and fell on that cycle after short lp issues, I continued taking it into 3mths of pg as it is also supposed to be helpful for morning sicness - can't vouch for that I was still dreadfully ill :-)
