Rols, that's interesting about the emergency ICSI thing. I haven't heard of that, so it probably isn't an option at my clinic. I should find out though. At least it's an extra thing they can try when things aren't going well.
Ali, come back! How did your EPU go yesterday? Please don't let my experiences of the last couple of days force you to hold on to what I am sure is good news! We always need good news in here ;) it keeps us going!

4th needle down. No pain, no blood, no nothing. DW happy as a box of birds. Almost makes me wonder if I'm doing it right!

Hi all
just wanting to let you know in thinking of you all. X
not posting much as nothing happening. Clomid may have worked but didnt show i o'd on poas. So went in to check with bt and that showed that i o 'd a few days ago so cant do tf as they cant pin point when. So now in taking a break for 16 weeks while i in on a detox and clean out my system. Have been doing a diet from np for two weeks and feel great but have been told to take herbs for 16 weeks and not any perscribed meds at the same time so no metformin for me and im feeling great. Dh is very disappointed that we are not doing a cycle and really doesnt believe in np. But im feeling so good.
i will be on at the weekend to catch up on every1s news.

Lou, I'm sorry to hear that you won't be transferring. I do wonder if blood tests would have picked up what the ovulation sticks didn't (and there's the reason why I hate ovulation sticks with a passion!), but you seem absolutely at peace with the decision and the wait. Hopefully the detox will have you in a much better state to start the next cycle.

Hi Loula, sorry you missed out on doing a transfer :( Is np a naturopath??? Please id love to know how it goes, so many people have been encouraging me just to see a naturopath, and i think maybe if this cycle doesnt work, it might be worth having a break, to sort my body out. That's good that you're feeling so great, i love not being on any meds at all...feels good on the body. Wish you all the best in the next few weeks. What sort of herbs has the np got you on??
BW, sound like you might be feeling a little better today- read from M and L. All i can say is that those girls have posted some really great posts there and i hope things start to get a little better with you. I was a mess after the m/c, didnt really understand why, i still dont, and that never really goes away. I just hope you get some answers from Dr S, and if not, then a guess just see how things go. Thinking of you.
Rols woohoo!! 4th needle. Yay. Im always scared im not doing it right! But mostly you are, and def bloods and/or u/s will confirm that. In tas, do they do egg collection in one of the hosp or is it a day surgery case. Just wondering in case decide to come home for a bit.
Megan, sorry things didnt work our for you :( the emergency ICSI thing Rols talked about sounded like an ok idea...
Hi Kerri, lots of the girls on here are using natural therapies and/or as well as doing ivf- ie. np and acupuncture and all sorts. They have lots of ideas, good luck with everything.
Hi to everyone else,
Mel

Kerri,
yeah I've heard stories like that, but my tubal patency test at the time showed absolutely no give, meaning I didn't just have blocked tubes, I had completely blocked tubes. Absolutely no chance of pregnancy. :) Just my luck, hey?
And yes Rols, it was Tracey with the new baby. She was part of this thread many moons ago, and fell pg to her 2nd child, Indah, while inhabiting this thread. She has just had baby #3. So yes all LTTTCers are welcomed here. :)
Lou, I'm so sorry about missing out on transfer. I hold out much hope for next time though.
As for me, this is probably a bit TMI but as Dr said that my tubes may have 'shifted' during pg and may be slightly more conducive to conception now (will never now for sure without another HSG) DH and I have decided to have fun with it and pretend we're trying naturally for a while. A milestone in our relationship for sure, and I'm really happy to sit back and see what happens. I'm just about 100% sure nothing will happen, but at least we're having fun trying! Lol!
-
Sushee - Never say never darling ... I had my lap and dye and not a darn drop came through, and was told that my tubes were completely blocked as well ... ;)
I'm proof Dr's can be wrong .....

Hi Guys, wondering if i can join in? i am not doing IVF just yet cause im so scared about the costs and failure. I have done 7 rounds of clomid, 4 of those were beofer a lap/hsg and theo others after. Nothing was found on the lap/hsg so at the moment we are in limbo. I never took clomid this month, just didnt feel like it??!!
We are heading on hols in about 5 weeks, so when we get back we may look into starting the IVF journey after xmas.. seems so far away yet so close still.
Hope i can fit in somewhere, and this seems like a great place :)
-
Lou, good to hear from you and I hope your break does the trick.
Mel, the emergency ICSI thing is pretty interesting. Basically, if the sperm isn't doing as it should, they try and perform ICSI, however, the success rate is less than planned ICSI (I think) as the eggs have been out of the body for longer by the time they give them a chance to fertilise. Also with regard to EPU, where we are it's done as day surgery in one of the private hospitals. We have PHI and instead of $1400 it will be $250 I think. There are two trips to that hospital for day surgery - one for the EPU and one for the transfer.
Blizzy, welcome. We're currently in our first IVF cycle and about to pay for it on Monday (YUK). But it's not as bad as you probably think once you get started.
-
Lou - sorry to hear you couldn't pin point O for transfer hun, but it sounds like this break is doing you wonders! i'm sure the next 16 weeks will fly for you
Blizzy - welcome hun. there are a few of us here that haven't taken that leap to IVF yet - i'm on my fourth attempt at IUI (artificial insemination) - if we're not successful, we may have one more and then move to IVF
Sushee - woohoo - way to go on the natural time hun! it obviously means that DH has come around to the idea of another bubba and you get to enjoy it all in the mean time! yay!
to everyone else, a huge HI! haven't had much chance to catch up on posts this arvo, so might be back later today for some more personals
-
Oh Lou, what a hassle for you. I am glad to hear that the new foods etc from the NP are making you feel good - long may it continue. Can you demand blood tests next time??
Megan, i am really shocked and so sorry to hear about your cycle. I wish there was something i could say to help you through. You and DH really have had a such a lot to deal with lately. I hope you can get some idea of what happened this time around.
A big hello to everyone - i hope that you are all well at the moment and wishing some BFPs in here for you all really soon.
-
Hi everyone
Sorry I haven't been around for a few days - life just seems to be crazy busy at the moment!
Megan - so sorry to read your news. It sounds like you have lots of questions for your FS appointment next week. As everyone else has already mentioned, ICSI might be something to consider as it removes another one of the hurdles in the process. Good luck hun and be easy on yourself - you have had a pretty rough time recently.
Ellie - yep, those glass bottles are nasty. I had to get DF to do the first one as I was so worried I was going to break it and destroy it. Also my SIL is a pharmacist and she cut the tendon in one of her fingers a few years ago opening a similar glass vial - it has never been the same since. Do you have a date yet for your FET? I hope you get a good thaw rate on your blasties. Will you transfer both?
Vanessa_guy hi - I find the acupuncture does help me de-stress as I am forced to lie very still and concentrate on my breathing for one whole hour, so I do feel quite calm after each session. I have had a couple of sessions to stimulate my follicle production and then a few sessions after transfer. I am only new to acunpuncture for AC - other ladies here have more experience and might be able to answer more specific questions if you have any.
Holly - sorry to hear that AF has arrived but I guess the positive note is that you are looking nice and regular at the moment. Poor little Luke - he is having a rough trot this winter isn't he. Still bonding with DH over the playstation has gotta be fun!
BW - good luck with Dr S appointment next week. I hope the break from everything helps you and you come back stronger then ever! Take care hun.
Kerri - welcome to BB. I hope that we are able to provide you with information and support on your journey. We are a doing a combo natural therapy with IVF style program. I am doing acunpuncture during the stim phase of my cycles (2 so far - hopefully this is it!) and taking a blend of bush flower essences which my acupuncturist makes up for me. My DF is taking chinese herbs and a mens multi-vit to improve his SA. I am also trying to remember to drink nettle tea each day - something about supporting the liver/kidneys which helps with the drugs we put into our bodies. I think Holly is the guru on that if you want more info!
Sushee - welcome back from your holiday and good luck with TTC naturally. Hopefully you will be another of our miracle ladies just like Diva!
Alicat - hope your EPU went well yesterday. Do you know the results yet? Best wishes  for a good result.
Rols - well done on DW's 4th needle. I am glad that she is doing well and what a great phrase: happy as a box of birds. That's so nice and made me smile :)
Loula - sorry that you didn't end up having a transfer this time but good luck with your natural therapies. Have you looked into Sheoak drops? Apparently it is an Australian bush flower essence that aids conception - I know it is one of the essences that my acupuncturist makes up for me and my chiro's DW was on it before she fell pg. You never know what might happen!
Blizzy - hi and welcome to BB. Hope you enjoy your holiday and rest up for the start of your exciting IVF journey later in the year.
Nothing much going on with me - still waiting for test day and have decided to not POAS because I have never had any luck with them and don't want to jinx myself! Take care all and talk again soon.

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if it is ok to join your forum? Since I am new I feel rude coming in through a thread which has so much history if you know what I mean.
Rols, my husband will be so thrilled to know there is a guy on the forum. I should get him to join bb as he has felt this whole thing extremely hard. He has been suffering from depression as a result of the IVF and he feels like he has failed me (which he has not).
-
Lauz, you're more than welcome to join in! All of us were new once, and while there is a lot of history here, we're also very glad to have new comers. It is hard to make that first step in, but I'm very glad you have.
I really hope you won't be with us for too long and that the new cycle you're about to start will be successful.
BW

welcome Lauz !
don't you dare worry about jumping into the middle of an established thread - we've ALL been there - and if we didn't take that leap of faith to jump right in, we wouldn't have found such a supportive group of people to keep us complany through the hell that is assisted conception!
-
Hi Lauz, glad you found the thread!!! Im kinda still new here and feel out a place a bit, but even just reading other people's stories is great and encouraging and people are always happy to answer questions and things.
Chez when is your blood test???
Hi to everyone else, hope people have had ok days!!
Mel

G'day Lauz, and rip into it. You're very welcome.
If at any point in the future I can be of any help to you and your DH please let me know. I am happy to answer any bloke questions that I can either on here or via email or whatever. If you do a search of my post history, particularly the earlier ones, you will both see the sorts of emotions I felt once I found out that I was the cause of the infertility - the usual sort of stuff relating to inadequacy, shock, anger, and particularly the upset at putting DW through all of this when she is physically fine. All the stuff he is feeling is normal and I imagine all blokes feel it in our shoes.
Tell him that they say 1 in 6 couples experience infertility of some sort, and 40% of those are to do with the bloke (40% the woman, 20% unexplained). I bet he (and I) would be amazed at how many of us are in the same boat. Same with another member of this thread - Sparkles - her DH is in exactly the same boat as me with regard to morphology. He needs to look on the bright side if he can. These days many blokes can biologically father kids through all of this wonderful technology instead of relying solely on donors, and further he has a varicocele which explains his circumstance. Happymel's DH has recently had a varicocele repair and has already experienced great improvements in his analysis.
Everyone's different, but after coming to terms with what we have been dealt (we found out in May, a week after two of our best friends' baby died) my attitude has just been to get my head down, bum up, and do what we need to do to get the job done. I'm pretty excited that we've started IVF and that we actually have the opportunity to get it sorted. As you and I and everyone knows, your DH hasn't let you down at all. Some people have dodgy knees, some people have heart troubles, some people have hearing loss, and some people even have crap sperm. It happens!
Massive spiel over.

Thanks everyone :D
Rols, thanks for those comments. I will get him to read the positing. I am sorry to hear about your best friends baby. I cannot imagine what that would be like :(
I have noticed you all talking about natropathy. My sister told me about a girl she works with who was doing IVF who saw a natropath when things weren't good. And the next cycle she got preg. I am booking in to have accupuncture for the next cylce as I have heard good things. Anyone else experienced positives with it?
