Ellie all the best for your transfer.
G'day Shelly, Lauz and Cory, and welcome.
Mel, I know this is not the result you had expected given your previous cycle was different, but, for argument's sake they get 4 eggs then they may well get 1-2 blasties from that. Just beause your first go was a high egg yield but low blastie doesn't mean that this time you wont have a better blastie rate. From what I've seen on this forum over the past few months, no two cycles (with the same person) ever seem to be the same. So try not to give up just yet and see what eventuates.
BW, good to see you're still truckin'.
BG, speaking of truckin', how's your bloke fairing at the moment. When is your official test? I know you've already done at least 1 POAS.
GL with the appt on Tuesday Shannon.
Would be interested in hearing how Nic, Chez, Ali, Lou and others are going. I know I've missed some.
Well, today DW is up to Day 12 of Lucrin I think and Day 4 of Puregon (@ 100IU). Despite not overly looking forward to administering the Puregon because of that space shuttle pen, it's not that hard once you get started. At the dosage of 100IU from a 300IU cartridge, is it normal to have a bit left over after the third night? Don't know if any of you have ever had the same dosage, but I get the feeling from the stuff printed on the cartridge that they put a bit extra in.
Anyway, the Puregon has been sliding in effortlessly, but for some reason the Lucrin has become more difficult - there seems to be more resistance breaking the skin and DW is definitely feeling it more. I'm still using the same syringes and needles as before, so either her skin is going like leather (which goes against the ease of entry for the Puregon) or my technique is starting to suck. Plus last night there was a large bead of blood that jumped out from both needles, whereas before there hasn't been as much as a pinhead, except for the first night.
Anyway, second BT was this morning and DW is an old pro with needles now. She isn't even nervous before the BT whereas before IVF I could make her faint talking about the specifics of needles which was deadset funny. So, results this arvo and an u/s on Monday. EPU late next week I assume if she gets some decent follie action.

Hi Rols...there is extra in the puregon...very impressed that you noticed!!!
-
Thanks Ellie. I noticed because I was obsessing about the quantity for the whole 3 days - ie. I'd make a mental note of which printed letter on the cartidge that the plunger aligned with and then check that it had moved afterwards, just so I'd be doubly sure that the drug was actually passing through the needle! Plus I wasn't happy until I'd pulled the pen apart (not totally) and figured out exactly how everything worked. A bit OCD, I know...
-
Lol Rols you crack me up!
I've never done the Lucrin only Puregon and im sure you are doing fine! My DH gives me my injections and on 2 occassions YES 2 he stuck me with it and had forgotten to dial up the drugs and we had to go again! Occasionally we got a drop or two of blood but just remember with all those follies growing and the uterus lining growing there is going to be increased blood flow to that area of the body and that is exactly what we want. Well thats what my acupuncture/herbalist guy told me and well it makes me feel better!
-
LOL...my DH can't stand the sight of needles...he helped me do my trigger on Monday night..had him hold the needle for me while I cracked open the little glass bottle...he was so proud of himself LOL...God help us if we ever have a c-section!!!!
-
BT results in: DW's levels all very good, and we are to keep going as we have been.
Next BT Tuesday, first U/S Thursday.

excellent news Rols! glad to hear things are progressing nicely!
as for me, still no sign of AF - am now 16 DPO, so i am not giving up hope (last cycle AF arrived day 14). hubby is being very attentive, which is lovely - i'm not sure whether it's to keep me calm, to ward AF off - or to appease the guilt he's feeling cos we have BT and follow up with FS on the 16th and then he goes away on the 17th for a week or more - so whatever the result, i'm pretty much flying solo to cope.
not much else to say except a huge thanks to Jo for the compliments - i just help where i can hun

Ellie, i just wanted to say thank you for your caring thoughts this morn, they did make me feel a little better. Im just so disillusioned by everything right now. I honestly just dont understand. Also thanks Rols, im not going to give up yet...
The nurse called about my bloods and said they were good...wtf?? They're absolutely crappy compared to last time. Got to go back on Mon for u/s and bloods, keep on same amt of gonal-f. DH called the clinic and talked to one of the nurses, she said that things were sort of same as last cycle except for some reason, only one ovary was being stimulated. I dont know what i have done wrong, there always seems to be something :( LIfe sucks sometimes, really does.
Ellie, i am moving to Perth in Sept, just wondering which clinic/doc you go through, and are you happy with them. Guess we might have to start again when we get over there. At least, if this cycle doesnt work, can still get in another one this year :(
BG- fingers crossed that AF wont arrive. Will you do another HPT???
Hi's to Shellyd, Lauz, Shannon, BW and Kotare, and everyone else

Mel, I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going so well. Even though things may not be as good as last time doesn't mean that there is no hope at all. I hope things improve in the next few days.
Sorry for a complete lack of personals, I'm just feeling very confused. I was wondering around in two different shopping centres today (don't ask!), and the number of newborns was just incredible. All I could think is that I want to be pregnant again so badly... The temptation is to call my clinic tomorrow and book an appointment to see the FS ASAP and get back in there. Remind me again why we are waiting? I also have a horrible feeling that my FS still won't believe I'm ready to go yet... I know it's a good idea to have all the tests done and make sure everything is ok, and I'm not even 4 weeks since the miscarriage... :wall: Frustrated, cranky and just aching to have my own baby at last.

Hi everyone.I just wanted to ask is there a reason why some people have to take both Lucrin and Puregon.Or is the Lucrin in place of the spray?
Rols- im on 150 of puregon and i get 4 days out of each cartridge. I started it on the 8th of Aug and I go for my first ultrasound and blood test on the 14th Aug.

Hi All,
I am new to this thread - had been posting on '1st cycle ivf', but it has now closed!
So 'hi' to all.
Have had a quick skim through here and looks like this is the place to be. I am starting IVF/ICSI next week (well have orientation on Tues). Excited to get started after 18mths of TTC!
If any of the gals from previous thread come on board as well that would be great. (ie Sienna, Venus, Blayz, MO5, Tan etc) and can see that some of you are here too.
Sienna - good luck with ET on Sat! Hope it all goes well!
Holly - noticed you are into acupuncture etc. I am also based in Syd and want to see an acupuncturist that specialises in IVF ... have no idea of who is good! Any recommendations?
Rols - good to hear from a guys perspective. My DH is in the same boat as you (so to speak), so quite refreshing to hear a male perspective! I hope all goes well with you and DW!!!
BW - good luck with deciding - you sound ready to me! The sooner you push on the closer to your dream you get!
BG - little story for you ... 1 of my colleagues had 3 HPGs and 2 BTs and they all resulted BFN. She insisted she was PG and a week later it was confirmed she was +! So there is still hope! sending sticky vibes that a BFP results!!!!!
Mon :)

mumof5, lucrin and synarel essentially do the same thing. Lucrin is injected once per day, while synarel is squirted up the nose twice per day. For future note - gonal F and puregon are also the same type of thing, they are both FSH injections, but I'm not entirely sure what the difference between the two actually is.
Mon, welcome. I'm another sydney-sider. I go to acupuncture in Rozelle - they specialise in infertility, IVF support and miscarriage prevention among other things and I have found them to be absolutely fantastic so far. I've been going for a year and it has really helped with all the trials that you face on this journey.
Excuse my little brain explosion earlier - just remind me of why I'm waiting for Dr S to run his tests, and that there's probably no way I'll satisfy my FS of my readyness until I've seen the psychologist at least once...

BW thanks very much.I admire how strong you are with everything you have gone thru. I do hope you get started again real soon.
-
Mel, you need to come back here and get some of this fresh country air in your lungs ;)
BW, my opinion, and feel free to ignore, is that you need to come to terms with seeing other people and their brats before you can be ready to start the journey again. You will get there in time, but if it's not on the next cycle, you need to be able to manage the baby cravings and seeing people in public who have what you want. Otherwise it becomes a very rocky road. See your pscyhologist first, even if it's only once. Like you say, it will keep your FS happy too.
Mumof5, I was surprised when we found out that DW had to do Lucrin first, then Lucrin and Puregon concurrently. Mu understanding is the Lucrin blocks the link between the brain and the ovaries, and then the Puregon artificially does what the brain does, except on a bigger scale.
Hi Mon, welcome! If you are interested in some of the more blokier posts to do with blokey issues, look at my post history. It may be of interest to your DH, and you. Then again I talk a lot of crap so it may not be.
Injections finished for tonight. DW not happy with Lucrin one but OK with Puregon. It's got me beaten, but what Shannon said is probably right to do with the body being sensitive after all these drugs.
DVD time.

I need to ask you all a question.Have any of you had any bleeding when on puregon and spray and what does it mean?? I just went to the toilet and i had this brown stuff like the end of a period??? Freaking out!!
-
mumof5, call your clinic in the morning and check with them. I think I had bleeding on just about every single drug I was given when I wasn't supposed to - except the puregon. If there's anything worrying you, it's best to ask the clinic nurses - they can check with the doctors and tell you what to do. I'm sure everything will be ok, especially if it's only brown spotting.
Rols, I think there may be an element of truth in what you said... when I step back and think about things rationally the answer is not yet. But the highly emotional part of my brain that we need to fix is the part that's screaming to go again now.
Forgot to say earlier - I've got most of my tests organised now. Have a fasting blood test to do tomorrow morning (what fun!), will go to St George on Tuesday (what an adventure that will be!). Then it will be a matter of going on the pill for a while. Looks like DH will do his SA next weekend, and probably 2-3 weeks away for the ultrasound I need to have. That one's probably going to be the unpleasant one. When I see it all set out like that it doesn't seem so bad.

:wall: So much for the plan! Fasted this morning, got DH to take me in for the blood test... only to discover that they need dry ice for some of them, and they only have that delivered on Mondays and Fridays. With the collection centre not opening until 8am, and teaching first period Monday, there's no way I can get it done until Friday. Just the whole needing to eat before teaching thing, and having time on Friday to do that. Grrrrr... this is going to push things back at least another week!

Mel, I am so sorry to hear about your bad news. I agree with Ellie - it is not fair sometimes. Spend some quality time with DH (this usually helps me cope). Just don't give up yet.
Ellie, I hope your visit was ok. I would have found that really hard. I find it bad enough just going out and seeing lots of people with babies I don't even know. I hope our transfer went well also.
Hi everyone else
