Wow twomums thats FANTASTIC news. I must admit I was a little sad to hear that it hadnt worked for you and that you would have to have a break, so to get this news is just wonderful.

Hey Deb - how's it going ? In response to your 100 things you can do when not preggers ( i had a chuckle) Reminds me when I was in QLD in June, as I was in the TWW DH would not let me on any of the rides (except the wirly swing thing with my 5 yo nephew)
Then the witch arrived right at the end of the holiday.... so I could have gone on the rides and water slides etc... it was torture all the rest of the family were having fun and I had to sit and wait while they queued up etc. Big Bummer !!

I have just freaked out a little, we have our spec. appoint. on Tuesday & I was going through my referral as you do & a sentence on dh sperm results worried me - this speciman contains teratozoospermia.
I looked it up & it means fewer than 30% sperm with normal shape, isn't this bad?
The dr we went to for results was not our normal dr & she said results were fine, she did mention something about abnormal sperm but not less than 30%!!!
85% of sperm had good mobility but I know they have to be normal to have any chance of penetrating the egg.
This would obviously make sense on why we havn't conceived yet.
The question is do I make my dh aware of this, it will make him feel anxious all weekend but not sure if the spec. tells us this on tuesday it might be a huge shock seeing as we thought everything was ok, maybe it still is I just don't know.

Jo, let me know how you go. I'm very interested in this as I think we may be in a similar situation after reading your post. The FS considered DH's SA "normal" but did say that the morphology was boderline but nothing to worry about.
I'll have to find his numbers because I think it was around 80% were abnormal shape.
Think I might go do some googling! ;)

Isn't it funny how SA can bring up so many worrying things. When my DH had his they said the results were borderline, but fine. I didn't really think about it much and then a few months later I asked one of the nurses for a print out of his SA so i could have it there for my records, and she explained it all to me and said that DH has a low mortality rate (or something along those lines) but his actual sperm count was double a normal sperm count that they counteracted each other and reduced his SA to 'normal'. I'm not sure how it all works, but i'm guessing Megan that maybe it could be similar....

My DH had 100% normal sperm.

DH then quit smoking, ate heaps of fresh fruit and vegies & started exercising. 4 months later DH went back for another SA (I think he liked them) Ha, and he then had 2 % of normal sperm. We still haven't achieved a pregnancy yet but they was a huge improvement. And as the Dr's say, it only takes one little sperm!

Hi Ann, sorry if i sound like a GIT, but do you mean 'normal' sperm or 'abnormal' sperm, coz you can't improve on 100% normal, can you??? BTW...i think my DH likes the SA too..hehehe

Megan my DH's morphology came back exactly the same, the Dr told us it was borderline but it was nothing to worry about. He has since given up smoking not that long ago and is now taking zinc and vitamin E so hopefully that will make it better.

I was doing some reading on the Monash IVF website this morning and it says that 15% of normal shaped sperm is ok, it's when it drops down to 5% that it could be a problem.

Thanks all for posting re: sperm results.
I have since decided that I am going to try not to let it worry me until my appointment on Tuesday when I can ask the dr questions.
I have way too much other stuff to worry about atm.
I will of course let you all know what he says as it seems to be a common thing, I'm not sure how they work out that 20/30% normal is ok, to me that seems like terrible odds.

As thought, my cycle has just been cancelled as my levels were going nowhere!! I'm now on provera to induce AF then going on a round of Clomid 100mg to hopefully get O happening. This may sound like a daft question, but does the chemically induced cycle affect ET?? I mean - they said they wanted a "natural Cycle" but for me that's near on impossible. Does this mean the embryo has less of a chance of implanting than with a natural cycle??? Sorry - I've just been thinking about it and have got myself all worried about it now :doh:

SOPH thats fantastic news!!! This does seem to be a lucky thread doesn't it!! Thank you everyone for your well wishes for Kim and I, it is truely wonderful to have your support. I've been kind of slack over the last week or so, but on Monday i am ringing my doc re an appointment about what Kim and I need to do about aligning our cycles and the donor eggs etc so will know more news then. Thinking of you all!! BTW Did i mention that Kim and I became engaged last week on my birthday!! Not that we can get married anytime soon (thankyou Mr Howard) but when it does become legal we will be getting married.

Megan - congratulations on your engagement, how exctiting for you and Kim, hopefully they will legalise it soon.

Congrats Soph !!!! Wonderful news and I sure hope that it is catchy !!!!

Congrats also to Megan - wonderful news for you both.

Now it has been such a long spell between multiple BFP's that I sure hope that it continues for some time..... Rachesl (& everyone else at some stage) the whole TTC process is overwhelming and at time you feel like curling up in bed and avoiding the whole world. It's just great that we can all come here and not feel so isolated, especially when the whole world seems to just sit on the wrong seat (or right one for us) and get preggers. Bah humbug I say but at least we can feel stronger with each other, so feel free to off load.

I had my fet on Saturday and have been attempting to take it easy... but I have been having a few cramps, which I havent had before, I hope this is not a bad sign. Am to scared to even think a bit positive. Go my little champ blastie !!!

Not a lot happening here with us. I have just come home from spending most of the week with my mum and dad. DH is on nightshift for the next 3 nights, so I'm hoping that we get a chance to BD before ovulation :pray:

Thanks for thinking of me with my appointment, I guess most of you have been there done that so you know how nervous I was feeling.
So mostly info session about options but from what I told him he thinks I may have a bit of endometriosis so not real happy about that.

He said Dh sperm is fine & it seems from b/t that I am ovulating but we should investigate further so I am going in for regular b/t this month & when I am about to O he is going to tell us to BD (how romantic!!!) & then I have to go that day to do a post coital test Yipeeee.
So that is where we are going to start, apparently it will tell how the sperm & cervical mucas is reacting together.

Dr was very quiet but seemed to know what he is talking about so I am happy to stick with him, he was also very honest giving us no false hopes which is a good thing.
He says even couples with no problems only have a 30% chance each month of conceiving & that the hardest thing is to get pg (well for some people anyway) so there not great odds are they?

Anyway I will keep you ladies posted.

Nic - we were discussing before about spotting before af, he said that is a sign of endometriosis & to take cd1 from first heavy day of bleeding.

Jo - That's great that you are happy with your Dr. Thanks for the info about the spotting, I have always taken the first day of heavy bleeding as CD1...so no probs there.
It's funny..as a teenager I had terrible periods, and ended up seeing a gyno at 16
He told me that I had ALL the symptoms of endo and even the family history, but "you don't get endometriosis until you are 25...the day you turn 25 come back and see me and we will operate on you to remove it" :eek: No joke, that is what he said to me. He was a horrible horrible man.

Anyhoo, enough about that. Was finally able to get some BDing in last night. Temp took a big dive today, so hopefully we caught the eggie!

Hi Everyone

Jo i got told so many different things with my endo, i had a laparoscopy at age 18 and was told i had a small amount of endo, treatment with Danazol for 8 months and the only thing that would cure it was to have a baby. One doctor told me that i would have to be on Danazol for the rest of my menstruating life and just to come off it to try and fall pregnant and hope it didnt come back while i was TTC.

Now my doctor doubts the diagnosis in the first place. But the fact that i was diagnosed when i was 18 and treated with Danazol eary on probably helped it never coming back. And it did help me with getting on the IVF program so meh...

Well we had our appointment with our doc on Monday and he said that he thinks my best chances at pregnancy is using Kim's eggs. So I have been put on the pill so that my doctor can induce a period and ovulation in line with kim's cycle. She is CD 21 and i am CD 13. So I will be on the pill for only about a week and when i come off it i am supposed to get my period???? Like a week earlier than normal...Then just to make sure i ovulate he is putting me on Clomid, and to prepare my uterus, estogen and progestrone. After all that i should be a couple of days behind kim so that my cycle is just right for the embryo transfer!! Talk about a controlled cycle or what!!!

Feels sort of rushed to me and i am starting to worry about whether my body will do as its told..i mean if all you had to do to induce a period was to put people on the pill for a week and then take them off the pill, wouldnt everyone with long cycles be doing that??
I'm confused...has anyone had a donor egg cycle before?

well as you can see i am back on cycle day 2 the witch showed up saturday morning. Went to the doc's and he will do a pap smear and swab after my period and then refer me onto a ivf specialsit as he agreed two years is way too long.

I have been reading the threads here for the last couple of months trying to gain as much info on IVF & OCSI that i can, I finally decided to join up last night so i thought i would introduce myself and say Hi!
I'm 21 hubby is 25, we have been seeing our fertility specialist for about 12 months now.. and TTC for 32 months and on month 6 of clomid.. and loving (saracsm) the side affects!! I have Endo & PCOS and my hubby also has problems.. we were told about 4 months ago ( a week before our wedding) that IVF ICSI was our only hope. We are going with City Fertility Clinic in Brissie and would love to hear if anyone else has done a cycle with them?? and what were your thoughts??

Shannon, firstly welcome to BB. We were told a few months ago that IVF and ICSI was our only hope of conception as well.

Well we were very lucky to have conceived on our last clomid cycle before IVF. There is always miracles, so I hope there is a mriacle waiting for you too :) BTW Im 21 too;)
