Afm-scan this morning (which i had to take my girls with as DP had to work) said im good to go for iui monday-3 follies right ovary with one of them the right size, i think 5 left ovary but nowhere near size.gotta have DPs sample at qfg at 7am and iui about an hour later also will have to have girls with again as DP will be at work and usual babysitter has to take her daughter to a hospital appointment that day.trigger tonight at 6pm anad a final dose of fsh and booster hcg injections on thursday, next sunday and the following thursday

Afm, would you believe I've become so absent-minded that I almost forgot my trigger shot! I didn't hear my alarm go off (mobile was charging in the next room) and the only reason I remembered was because I was talking to my MIL about the injections - I was about to say "I have to do the last one at 6.30 tonight" when I glanced at the time and noticed it was 6.40pm!! :o :doh: So I ended up doing it 15 mins late. Hopefully that doesn't cause a problem on Monday...

Sorry I've fallen behind too hope everyone is keeping well. Just a quick question I'm going in to see my FS on Wednesday to go through the plan for next year. We have unexplained infertility is anyone else in the same boat and have you done any additonal testing that might provide some clues. I don't want to go into next year and just go through the motions again and waste all my little snow bubs

Im currently jabbing puregon and will be having a scan on the 18th of Dec. With IUI roughly on the 21st ish. This is my first cycle I have been on a donor sperm waiting list. Whilst we are waiting with our first clinic we are trying IUI with a second clinic that doesnt have a waiting list.

Hi Redlady,

Welcome & hope you find this site full of fantastic information. Better than what you get from FS & nurses at times!!..the boards saved my sanity. You really DO have to take control during your cycle and sometimes not rely on the nurses to get back to you etc - my nurses have forgotten a number of things as they are so busy but once your know the routine you will be fine.

Good luck for your scan this Fridays. I remember how exciting the 1st cycle is (ok..so by my signature you can tell I'm not so excited but I still feel a positive anticipation when I start:).

I think its great you have 2 clinics - one waiting & one you go with. I have also 2 - sort of happened when my original FS wasn't available unfortunately after a failed cycle and I really needed to talk to a FS so saw another clinic. I have sent off my police checks etc to both so atleast if I need be I have the option of going back to the first one.

Not sure if this happens to you but some advice I wish I knew before my first cycle - don't eat too much..hehe!!..truly the stims gave me a huugggee appetite and I put on 4kg in less than 3 weeks, no amount of exercise got it off. My metabolism just was asleep!...and 6 weeks after the fluid went down I was still 4kg up...so mine wasn't water. The next cycle added another 3kg so I've now taken it easy since i'm up to cycle 5:(

Terry, we're unexplained too. We haven't done a lot of extra tests, just the antiphospholipid antibody testing. If this cycle doesn't work I'm thinking I'll push for him to investigate endo (if nothing else I'm totally over the painful AFs).

Trubabe, did you get your IUI done at the QFG day theatres? I can't imagine there's too many women with 5 new born shar peis. If it was you, I was in the bed opposite you. :shhh:

So, I'm home from EPU. I've had more pain this time than for previous cycles for some reason, so I won't be online long. But we also got a record haul of eggs - 7!! FX for a good fertilisation rate so we can get a few to blast. :pray:

I thought about saying something but wasn't sure if you'd prefer to maintain some anonymity and also didn't want to call across the room.

its cool.it was a first for me and something i hope doesnt need doing again.had a bath a while ago which helped. and you would have been the one that said that the results from pick up were your best yet??? DP sent a wtf text when i told him about what had to be done to cervix.Dr de cracked me up when i was in pain saying what he was doing was equal to him having his nuts in a vice lol.DD1 had been peering through window, they loved the recliners lol.it would have been nice having a friendly face from on here there :D whens your BT? maybe we may cross paths then too

Yes, that was me. 7 is our best haul (previously had 6, 6 and 5, so I'm excited over 1 extra egg!). :) I think the pathology section is closed over Christmas and re-opens on 4 Jan? I need to talk to my Dr about when to get a test done. We're normally told to come back 15 days after transfer, but that would be the 2nd. It won't matter if we don't need to continue the progesterone, but if we are supposed to continue it I'll run out. You'd probably be due to have yours a week before?

i was told i have to wait 16 days for BT so thats 30 dec.when i rang about bt form when i got home i got told that will have to get written on it for pathology to ring me direct with results.
excuse the blonde moment for a min i forgot it was pick up you had today not transfer.duh (smacks self with half eaten crunchie bar lol)

Terry DH and I have unexplained infertility, we did fall PG in Jan this year but unfortunately did not stick. We decided that TTC for soo long, we did not want to wait for sooo long for it to happen naturally so we are trying to hurry things along. 3 back to back IUI's Aug-Oct unsuccessful, IVF feels like our last chance.

Bruntte I hope you find out what has caused this enterococcus, I would go crazy if this would be a cause for a non viable embryo and that you picked it up at the clinic.
It's crap because we have to sign this and that to say they aren't liable for this or that, we never actually expect to get an infection from there bad sterilising procedures. So sorry that you have to go through this and I hope that it all works dout for you XXX

AFM I began taking the pill yesterday, finally got AF late Sat night on CD40!!!! Was going nutts!! So I will take the pill until 27th Dec, hopefully have a bleed by 30th so I can start my inj on 31st, talk about leaving it to the eleventh hour for this years medicare....going to be tight!

Well, the good news is that we have 6 embies! OMG, I'm beside myself here! In the past we've had 3, 4 and 3, and the time we had 4 only 2 were any good so I usually count it as 2, making 3 our previous best. When I called they had me booked in for a 3dt on Thursday and I had to point out that we want to do a blastocyst transfer this time. :rolleyes: She said she'd have to talk to the scientists and keep me posted... It was written on my admission forms yesterday, so hopefully the scientists were already aware of it? How is it that the admitting nurse knows but my Dr's receptionist doesn't?

Has Emstar had her BT yet???

Charlotte i totally agree with you about the wieght, ive had two full stim cycles and each one puts on more, its like ive had two kids!! I get around 40-50 follies each time too so my tummy stretches to fit in the ovaries and i look like ive been pg. I even had one huge stretch mark its so not fair!!! I eat well and exercise daily and the pudge just stays!

Redladie, GL with your cycle. The clinic with no wait, do you have to know your doner?

Thanks for your well wishes and advice. Im only on Puregon and so far I haven't noticed any urges to eat more. I have noticed an urge to go have special cuddles with DH though. I think he thinks all his christmas's have come at once!! :loveshower:


The clinic I am going to for this cycle has no waiting list for donor sperm. The donors must go on a register but I do not know the person we have picked.

With our other clinic the person donating there for us to use once it has cleared quarantine is known to us.

How are you both going???

juniper76 thanks for your advice I'll ask my FS tomorrow whether I've had any Bt for that too although I don't get much clotting normally. Hope your little embies are still travelling well :crossfingers:

Loops - It sucks that IVF will be so much more expensive next year - thanks to Rudd! I have never protested against a government before, but I am going to for the first time before the next federal election. I plan to protest right outside his office in Morningside!

AFM - I got AF on Saturday and so I went in today for my BT - a BFN, surprise, surprise! To be honest, I've dealt with most of the emotions days ago when I got a negative on the HPT and then over the weekend when AF showed up. I am trying to focus on the positives - we had the best results ever this cycle so we just have to keep the faith and hope that it will happen for us next year. We will be doing a frozen transfer for the first time, so if anyone else has done this and has some tips for us I would be very appreciative. An update on the entercoccus for those interested: I haven't yet spoken to my FS but my endocrinologist was the one who picked it up in the full blood count I got for thyroid purposes. I spoke to her today about it. The repeat urine test came back negative so my body has fought it off naturally. She said it comes from the bowel, so I don't think we need to worry about picking it up from the hospital, and she said it would not have affected the embryos, so that is a relief. I'm seeing my FS tomorrow to ask a million questions and plan the FET next year.

ive had a really bad feeling this afternoon,knowing my mum had to have a mammogram done that she was only refered for yesterday.just got a call from her in tears,looks highly likely she has breast cancer.having biopsy done now and we will have the results late tomorrow afternoon.my 8yr old is in tears at the moment from what she overheard,shes really close to my mum

Rob – Thank you for your words! This forum is a great place, even if like me, you don’t write often , to read other people going through the same thing as you, is very useful.

Brunette – We all have our bad days, and sometimes a good old rant here is just what you need. A few of my good friends have just had babies, and when they told me they were pregnant it was so hard. Luckily they are overseas, so the distance is easier for me, and I could take my time in congratulating her.

Trubabe, the pups are gorgeous! How was the IUI? Hope you are resting? I am sorry to hear about your mum. Sounds like you have had a hectic December so far!

AFM, no AF yet. I have slightly discoloured mucus, but that’s it. FS said to go in tomorrow for blood test Estradiol, to check my FSH levels... So much for going on the pill to regulate my cycle, it just seems to have messed it up more

babytruj the iui was painful as my cervix didnt want to do with it was supposed to so FS had to grab cervix with this hook kinda thing and i ended up with a pierced cervix

trubabe, oh no, that's the last thing you need! I really hope the biopsy shows it's benign. :hug:

Brunette I've had 2 FET and they are ok its like doing an IUI you just go in and they insert. The things I've done are excatly what you would do for any other cycle but I also read about trying to take a brisk walk before the transfer it helps get the blood flowing. I also have acupunture done and take some chinese herbs that taste horrible but if they help then I'm happy to take them

AFM - jusy a bit of a rant. Well my body has decided to change its cycle yet again. I thought I wouldn't have enough time this month for another FET as I have been ovulating day 17 for the past two months which would have meant I missed the transfer dates before clinic closes, well surprise surprise this month it happened today back at day 14 agggghh. Thought about telling my FS today but then thought against it I really haven't looked after myself too well been indulging in the festive season and don't really want to waste my little snow bubs

Hi Girls, Still lurking after our BFP to see how you are all doing. Brunette alsoDO NAT HAVE A BATH. Personally I bath over showering but it was recommended to me not to bathe as it increases chances of infection and also the constant heat increases the bodies temperature. Also when you do shower keep the temp down. I am not sure how valid the info is but this is the first time I did it and we got BFP. Obviously not the only thing to consider but evrything counts in this game.

Also Trubabe really sorry about your mum. And it couldn't have come at a worse time. I used to be in the Ambulance service and have seen both outcomes. The best advice I can give you all is to be positive and take each day as it comes. It really is a horrible thing to be going through and remember that there is a so many advances in technology and treatments that a cure is only around the corner, and hopefu;ly for your mum they have found it nice and early.

As for the rest of you lovely ladies, I hope you are all doing well in your cycles and that your BFP will also come soon. Take Care. xxx

Brunette, I've been doing acu since late July in preparation for this cycle. I go to East West Fertility at Ashgrove, but there are a few other equally good options around. The most important thing is to see someone specialising in fertility. If you have a look through the boards there's a few posts about Brisbane acupuncturists.

Juniper and Rob -Thanks for your tips. I will have a look for the thread on acupuncture. I live in east Brissy, so Ashgrove is a little far for me to go if it is to be a regular thing. Interesting about baths spreading infection; I suppose because the heat is conducive to bacteria ... I actually very rarely have a bath; ours is upstairs and our bedroom/living downstairs so I'm probably just being lazy :redface: And I also don't like hot showers; just tepid for me.

He really doesn't know, except to say that even though our embies were good quality and looked good to the scientist, sometimes they're just not right on the inside. He said that the chances of falling on frozen cycles are not as good as stim cycles! Which is a shame for us because we have 11 snowbubs! We will probably do our 1st-ever frozen transfer in February as we will be away on holidays in January. FX.

Brunette just remember, we just got our BFP on an FET. We had the best quality embryo's and we had 2 x fresh cycles nothing. 1st FEt and we are pregnant. So be positive. A frozen embryo can be just as good as fresh.

trubabe - I am so sorry about your mum, but try to stay positive ok. People beat breast cancer every day....my mum included. I know it's not what you need right now but stay strong.

brunette -I don't know why your doctor would tell you that about FET's.....there has been heaps of good results. In some ways they can be even better if they can do a natural cycle....less medication and stress. DEFINITELY try acupuncture, it has been a God send for me. I don't know anyone in Bris though sorry, I'm on the coast and have found the BEST guy. My 1st stim cycle was a disaster....2 immature eggs, none of which fertilized. I started acupuncture before my 2nd go and we got 7 eggs and 3 blasty's. Not to mention it does wonders for your stress levels. You won't regret it!

AFM - I have appointment tomorrow to talk to doc about stim cycle for Jan so I'll keep you posted. Got a new price list from clinic today and was pleasantly surprised, not going up as much as I had feared. Still bites the big one that it's going up at all though. I think I'll join you on the picket line too brunette!

Emstar - Sorry to hear that you, too, didn't get a lovely Xmas present. Definitely ask and demand answers from your FS. We grilled ours for about 40 minutes, I reckon, and the people waiting outside did not look impressed with us :redface: Oh well ... I have a list of blood tests to be done which had to be written on two S&N forms. I think I have to give 12 vials! Aaaagh. I hate BTs! I have to psyche myself up for it and drink 2 litres of water beforehand :)

Thanks for all your comments, ladies, about FETs. I am definitely looking to see an acupuncturist before Xmas. My private health has a limit of $400 in benefits each calendar year - and as I've not used any this year I think I'll see if I can get in before the year end.

Hey Juniper, does your acupuncturist make you take chinese herbs? It's just that I'm already taking some chinese herbs and my partner is on a tonic (prescribed by our naturopath) and I wouldn't like to take more herbs which may interfere with/hinder what we're currently prescribed ....

Trubabe sorry to hear about your mum, stay postive though I have friends who have gone through the same sort og thing with there mums and they are all ok now.

Seems like quite a few of us want answers as to why its no happening and have been ordered to have more tests. I agree why don't they just do all the testing upfront.

I spoke with my FS yesterday and was ordered to do more blood tests for various things like protein, thyroid ANA all in all they took 6 viles of blood and by the time I came back to work I felt like passing out. Must have been a combination of that and the heat in melb. Apart from that I need to spend the next 3 months getting healthy again loose some weight (personal training here I come) Anyway I wasn't happy and told my FS as much given that I've been through 2 IUI's and 3 IVF cycles and now they decide to do more tests. I'd be really upset if something showed up on my BT and I've wasted my littles healthy embies. Tick tock time is running out for me and although I'd be happy with one I would really have liked the chance to try for 2 children

Terry, What blood tests are they doing? Would be interested to know to see if I have had them done, or should have them done. All these tests confuse me though.

AFM: I went to FS yesterday for a blood test, and AF arrived in the morning, so Yay! At least things are a little normal. All I was told about the test is that the levels were 48 which is good and to start Gonal F last night. What levels were they testing anyway? Day 1 of my cycle? Anyone know?
Anyway, I am on 150 of Gonal F (They are worried about hyperstimulating my ovaries) and 10 of Lucrin in the mornings now.
Barring having a little headache this morning, I feel ok so far!

Emstar - :hug: so sorry to hear about the chem preg, they totally suck, sometimes I think they're worse than things just not working at all. DEF grill your FS about any blood tests you can do - my chem preg was caused by ANA (most likely). I got ANA, ACA, thyroid antibodies, lupus, Factor V Leiden, all the STI's and haemotology done before we started, for which I'm very grateful to my FS.

Trubabe - so sorry to hear about your mum. Take heart that there's lots of great treatments out there, like bj*81 said. My MIL is a breast cancer survivor, she's been in remission for 8 or so years now. And I can't believe your IUI, you poor thing. Hope you've recovered well. Its all happening at your place at the moment, isn't it!? And the silly season, to top it all off... :grouphug: Hang in there, girl.

AFM - still shooting up for IUI #2, had a scan on CD9 last Friday with a 18mm follie, then went back for another on CD12 Monday - follie gone! What the?! Another 15mm one had developed in that time, on the other ovary... I just don't understand my body. The 2nd one is taking its sweet time, I'm in for my 4th BT tomorrow to see when I can trigger :shakehead:
