RH, we're moving to the UK - DH is a Brit, living here for 14 years, but we just got married, so it's time for a change! We'll be leaving in April.

BD, I hope the packing goes well for you too! We're having to be ruthless throwing out or giving away things that we can't afford to hold onto. It's hard, but the clean-out and tidy up has felt good, too.

We live on a super-steep block, and our driveway is something you have to see to believe (seriously), so unfortunately this time, the skip has had to go at the bottom of the drive on the nature strip instead of the top, where they put it last time. Apparently the truck is not up to backing up our driveway anymore! I've tried a bit but taking rubbish up and down the drive hasn't been the best thing for me to do physically at the moment :rolleyes: It's now been designated as DH's job this weekend - I'll just keep hold of the fort lol :D

Im going mental on my 2ww... where is everyone else out there in 2ww... im going mental on my own.... Jan is a strange month because so much is closed etc.
I dont understand why they dont just do an ICSI if there is no fertilisation instead of wasting the egg.. that is so hard to get and get out? at lesat you dont have to worry !!!! Congrats

Here I was finally changing my "mood" to "Cheerful" and I read your post. I have to say it actually brought a tear or two. I felt so down with your and then as i kept reading I felt up. Every thought of being author..... I went on that ride with you..... Quick ride but I was hating the needle guy and then I was thrilled you had 4 eggs and the felt the whole NOOOOOO when they didnt fertilize I was even out there shopping with your going... you go girlfriend..... and then the final YESSSSS...... I m thrilled for you..... isnt it a strange thread this one...... hoping that each other person is not here for long.

As for ICSI..... thats what hubby and I went with. I because of their swimming ability or lack there of it was just a risk we werent able to take.


I so hope that in the next few weeks we are in another thread and if you get there before me..... any of you.... save me a seat, I ll be there soon.

Angel Babies when are you due to be in 2ww

I really have no idea waiting1.

I have only just lost my 2 angels on New Years Eve and Day. So we are still waiting for AF. We are also going onto herbs which we start in about 4 weeks, depending on when they turn up. There is always the chance, which obviously you hold on to, of a natural pg because of all the changes in the last 6 months we made while we prepared ourselves for ICSI and then until the recent loss. Who knows, after 6 months of no smoking, learning our cycles and improving our health in general, there is always the chance.

If that s not to be then I m also going to start finding another FS. My experience with my last one wasnt a pleasant one but goodness I wont get started on that.... Onward and upwards, I ll search until I find the right one for us. Then when I do I look at another round of ICSI then.

I am incrediably positive about everything and feel that things will happen for us this year....... I m 38 so there arent to many years left... :lol:

Its this year, hopefully for everyone in here. :pray:

Theresep, nice to hear from you again. I feel you and I are in a very similar situation. I was sorry to read that things didn't go well for you on your last cycle, especially with the persistent cyst. Let's hope it disappears on it's own. My fingers are crossed for you this cycle.

Jbub, I agree with Waiting1, this could be a sign that something wonderful is going to happen. Best of luck for your 2 eggies.

Nothing more happening my end, need to see FS next week in our next step towards IVF.

jbub - Oh my goodness, your story made me want to cry, I wanted to slap the anaesthetist for you! Sending big (((hugs))) your way and fingers crossed that your little embies stick :)

Am hanging out to speak to Steve tomorrow and find out how my embryos are going.

Update on our little embryos - as of today (Day 3) we have 3 8-cell embies, 1 7-cell, 1 5-cell, 1 4-cell and 1 2-cell embryo. One a grading scale of 1-4 (1 being the best), there are 1x1, 3x2, 2x3, 1x4 which I am pretty happy with. Now I'm praying that they just keep growing!

Transfer is booked for 1.15pm Monday afternoon and Steve will call us on the morning to make sure that we have a blast to transfer.

I don't know if it's the hormones or just me but I have turned into a bundle of nerves lately! I am not generally a nervous person but I'm jumping at every little noise, even tiny things that normally I deal with on a daily basis are freaking me out!

Bec D Yay - congratulations - that is a great result ! At least you will know how strong they are if going to blast - and that is heaps to try wtih. Best of luck !
As of Monday you will be in 2ww with me !! Yay. I understand how you feel. I have an umedicated FET on board now but am analysing every twinge in my tummy. About to go and make a lasagne to keep my mind off it - and to eat in case this is a BFP and I don't have to keep sucking in my tummy !!!

Went in for ET today! Was all prepared to plead for both embryos to go in. One of the fertilized eggs didn't grow though and had started to degenerate. That left one good one to go in!! It had divided ok and the scientist said it looked pretty good. Hopefully this it the one... It went in easily - being my first one i wasn't sure what to expect but no big deal. Now I am just scared it will fall out! I laid down for over 20 mins after transfer then went to acupuncture and laid down for another 45. Then went shopping for an hour or so (not for me this time). Now i think I'll lay down with my book. My clinic said as long as i don't get my body temp raised I can do what i like except swimming and sex.

Angel Babies - good luck with the natural conception. I really hope it works for you. As you said, you are much healthier now. Also you know that you can get pregnant now. Fingers crossed.

Congrats...... the 2 week wait.... hmmmmmmmm I have a totally different type of 2 week wait, in 2 weeks I will either be BFP or not. But good either way so I m really up about it all. One thing that I will actually be highly amuzed at is, we have all our new herbs and fertility books due to arrive in 4 weeks. (once our information is annalyzed and the herbs are made) I would be highly amuzed if i did get the BFP in 2 weeks and then the herbs and books on how to conceive turned up 2 weeks later...... mind you I would be down $500 but I really dont think I would care.

Hi All... I've been away from BB for about 6 weeks but thought I'd post again although I'm not sure how often I might get to catch up on threads at this stage.... We had two unsuccessful IUI's and are due to start our first IVF in two weeks. I thought i was feeling fine about it, but I'm starting to get worried about the uncertainty of it all. My work collegue who shares an office with me, started her IVF two weeks ago, so I've been keenly following her journey, only for her to have her cycle cancelled yesterday due to too many eggs (51 !) and too high a rise in progesterone. The poor girl I really felt for her. It's so frustrating !!! It made me wonder, if the clinic should have scanned her about 3 days earlier.

My Day 21 planning appointment is on Monday. As I tend to respond quickly to the injections I'm going to ask again for an early blood test/scan as I'm paranoid they're going to leave it too long. Just hope I get a good response / good embies / good freeze/thaw and all that... I used to think that IVF was just about hoping the embie would stick.. but there are so many potential blocking walls along the way !

Deni I can certainly relate with how you are feeling. I will be commencing IVF shortly, and at first I felt excited and relieved as after 3 failed attempts with Clomid, IVF meant that our dreams of becoming parents wasn't over. As time draws near though, I have so many 'what if' questions going round in my head, that I'm becoming increasingly tense about the whole thing as well. You are lucky that you have a work colleague to ask questions and confide in and share your journey. I have opted not to tell anybody (other than my sister) about what we are going through, as for me I think it would only make things more emotionally charged.

Even amongst all the uncertainly I know it will be all worth it in the end. I hope everything goes well for you next week :).

Hi Girls - new to these boards but very experienced in IVF ICS and Donor sperm eventually did the trick. Am also a sonographer thats scans for 4 IVF clinics. I am lucky enough to be in a FET cycle start tracking bloods Monday am. So am off to read about you all and try and put each story together. BBL

I just wanted him to coo to my little embies. I don't answer my phone first time he rings so I have his voice on message bank - I just love it!!

Have been feeling really nauseous the last couple of days, wonder if its the estrogen/progestrone? Trying to distract myself from thinking about Monday, I'm starting to get really nervous!

Mind you with my youngest son, now 16 I had the cutest cutest OB.... It ended up disturbing me greatly. Someone that it doing things in the southerly direction should either be your husband or old and ugly. This whole young and cute as hell thing just doesnt work for me. I know - I completely freaked out when I saw Steve at my OPU. I knew my FS would be there but for some reason it didn't click in my head that he would? Lucky I had a GA, otherwise I think I would be mortified!

Did anyone just see the special on SBS 8.30 tonight. It was all about IVF and what the doctors went through and patients went through to fight Governments to have it allowed. I was just a tad emotional through it. I was so happy for everyone and amaized at what they went through.

I m still lost for word...... was an eye opener.

Anyway, I just had to post this - yesterday it flowered for the first time !!! I've been watching and watering daily. At one stage I thought it would die but it bounced back, yay!

I'm hoping it's a sign.

AngelBabies/Slyder, yes I saw the documentary on SBS. It was a real eye opener! They are so right that after a while the technology just becomes part of the fabric of society. Since we were married my husband and I knew that we would have to do IVF to have a chance to have kids, and it wasn't a big deal. Having said that, we're extremely lucky/grateful that the technology exists!

I felt a pang of guilt when they detailed the early treatment regime - 3 injections every day for weeks! Guess I don't really deserve any sympathy for the mozzie bites I have to do once a day ;)

miss c our move went very smooth, it was just around the corner in comparison to you!! Moving overseas is very exciting, I'm a little jealous but excited for you! ;) Thanks for all the info, it is an enormous help to come here and ask questions. You're right it is getting easier, and I'm sure it will seem like second nature if I have to do all of this again for another cycle at any point.

I had my blood test and scan on Saturday, which was my birthday!!! Bit of a pain to be there at 8am (so no brekky in bed for me LOL), but it felt like a nice pressie to see what was going on! As it turned out the ultrasound lady wouldn't tell me anything at all, except it's too early to tell you anything, which was a bit deflating - but better than this is wrong or that is wrong! I saw her counting follicles, so I'm itching to know what's going on in there *pokes tummy*

When I saw the nurse she gave me orgalutran injections to take with the gonal f. OMG the gonal f seems bloody easy to take in comparison! I got really red and itchy. Just as well I only need to take it twice ;)

Hub has been such a support thru all of this. He's very excited about it all, and comes to every appointment and sits (and winces) with me when I inject. :heartbeat:

Booked in for another scan and blood test tomorrow, so hopefully someone will tell me what's going on! Feel like we're getting to the pointy end now.

The nurse told me I'm doing an antagonist cycle, is this the same as a flare? We still don't know why the FS has put me on it. I'm not complaining, it's much quicker :)

Tish, I had to have orgalutran too... I was hyperstimulating, so for three days I was doing puregon, lucrin and orgalutran - yuck! Are the orgalutran needles still blunt? I really had trouble getting them through my skin - no short, sharp jab there, it was a slow, hard shove! Please mention it to your clinic if they are - I told mine, and they were going to get on to the manufacturer about it - in their words "it's just not good enough!". I figure if they here it from other clinics as well, it might just help get something done about them!

Yuck! 3 injections, that sucks!!

I don't know if the needle was blunt, or if it is just because it is bigger than the gonal f but it did take a lot more force to get the sucker in. When I got my belly pierced (and here I am sooking about injections!!!!!) the guy said I had amongst the toughest skin on my belly that he'd seen in 10 years of piercing - yay me! So I put the fact that it was hard down to that, but thanks for the tip - I'll let the clinic know it wasn't much fun ;)

Did you get red and itchy? I felt like I'd been attacked by a swarm of mozzies on my belly LOL

Tish, I didn't get any skin reactions to the injections this time... but for my first two trigger shots I came up in enormous hot red welts at the injection site. They faded to purple and stuck around for ages. I didn't get it with the last cycle, I'm half convinced that it's because I have been pregnant (miscarried twice, sadly) and now my body knows what HCG is it just doesn't react to it any more. Skin reactions are fairly common with orgalutran and cetrotide, though. I found something like stop itch worked wonders with mine - perhaps you can try that?

I am officially in the TWW! Had one blastocyst embryo transferred this afternoon :) There is one, possibly two other blasts that will also be frozen which is a relief. Procedure was okay, more uncomfortable than anything else, although I ended up having a silly fight with DH on the way home! Am trying to relax now though, and not stress myself out :)

He had to tell us after one EPU with 15 eggs that there was only five yes 5 sperm so DH did another sample with another 5 sperm and we used those but I remember thinking I just need a sperm donor right now and your standing here!!! Stupid I know but good so doable!.

Hi Bec - congrats and welcome to agonising 2ww - ill see you in that thread... Why was it uncomfortable? none of mine have been - maybe its because it was a blast being transferred. I understand the fight - I think the day of transfer is the most stressful becuase it means we start the rollercoaster again and there is so much potential day 1 etc. Best of luck to you !

Waiting1, a blast transfer is no different to a regular transfer - it's still just a catheter that needs to go through the cervix. And that's the trick - some cervixes (cervices?) are uncooperative and kinky (no, not like that!) and it hurts to have something straight pass through. My first transfer was fine, didn't even feel it... but the hycosy I had later on afterwards was agonising. The difference comes from the progesterone pessary my clinic has me use the night before transfer - I can only assume that it makes my cervix nice and soft and happy. They could only get the catheter half way through for the hycosy.

Bec, still watching with great interest... really hoping that IVM is going to come in here soon so that I don't have to go through OHSS again! It's not so bad when they can keep you comfortable in hospital (rather than being a goose and sticking it out at home), but the three weeks for complete recovery is a complete pain in the proverbial!

I cringe whenever I even think about my cervix being touched, but my IUI today was OK. I'm feeling a bit sore now though, has anyone who's had IUI experienced that?

Oh yes, I was quite sore after my IUIs for a day or so. I was not sure if it was the procedure or the pessaries. Best of luck!

Lol you crack me up :) I actually brought all the clinic staff butterfly cakes today, baking helps me relax so I decided to make use of it.

BW's right, there was nothing out of the ordinary, just not used to people to sticking things into me! BW, hope that IVM becomes more widespread quickly, your OHSS sounds horrible!

Hey Bec ... congrats on the transfer! Have just been reading up! I like BW and a few others are obviously really interested in IVM! Hope it makes it to our parts of the woods!
Here's hoping your 2WW is a breeze and look forward to hearing of your BFP!

I haven't posted for a while as I have been trying to keep my mind busy with other things going on in my life as the whole TTC thing is really taking a toll on me and getting me down. I had my first blastocyst transfer a few weeks ago. I was so excited as i thought I was in for a good chance since I have unexplained infertility. My husband and I went on holidays over Christmas to make the time pass but unfortunately AF showed up 3 days before BT. We are now having another blast transferred in Feb. I have decided in the mean time to take a look at other fertility clinics in the Northern Suburbs of Perth. Does anyone know if there are different success rates with different clinics in Perth? I love the doctor that I am currently with but I am thinking why is nothing working?? Maybe i should change clinics!
Can anyone recommend good clinics in Perth with great success rates

BW I saw your comment to Tish about blunt Org needles and yes they still are blunt, Dh made a comment yest morn about trying to get it into my skin and they always hurt. Had my last one this morn YAY. Anyway this morn at the nurses I spoke with her about it and she said it is a common complaint. So I asked her to speak with the rep about it next time they come round, like you said the more complaints the company MAY do something about it. I reckon if you put those needles under a microscope they would look like sand paper!!! LOL.
