Howdy nic, KLF & Ellie ... nice to see some "regional and remote IVF'er, we're yet to start our IVF journey and we'll be jetsetting alot for treatments as well.
I see you've all been through at least one round of IVF (and my sincere appologies for that) so is there any hints, tips, or advice for us??? Do you have to be close to your clinic for the whole cycle or do you travel back and forth??? If you only travel down for the EPU and ET how long do you normally stay??? Have you ever had to fly after ET and was this allowed???
Gosh I have soooo many questions about this, so anything you can swing our way would be lovely, as we're finding the IVF itself very daunting, and all the travel and arrangements and scheduling seem to make an already difficult position almost impossible! ;)
Me too Diva i have no idea what im about to go thru and i need to know more. Where are you from??
????????Im having heaps of trouble understanding all the short terms for everything :help:. Whats the difference between having the spray and not having it????? Whats a flare cycle, god i have so much to learn. You girls know so much about everything.I'll be bullet proof by the time i go back into the clinic cause i learn so much from you all.
Hey Chez im having my EPU on the 20th Aug and i start my spray on the 24th july so you might even over taken me. I think Rols is the same as me too not 100% tho.
Hi Diva!
Good luck with your cycle...it is daunting and your first cycle is a HUGE learning curve...you will find out so much about your body and how you respond to the meds. If you have a long way to travel I'd stay close to the clinic between EPU and transfer so you can relax and recover. Best wishes with everythingxxx
Ellie - We live far, far, far away from everything! :cryinglaugh: We live on King Island a little blip of an island halfway between Melbourne and Tasmania, and is offically recognised as one of the four most remotest places in Australia!!! There is a hospital here, but it doesn't do any OB/GYN and the only way on or off this place is via plane, and the planes are very tiny, so you have to book your tickets weeks in advance to ensure a seat. The tickets aren't cheap either, so any cancellations in appointments is going to hurt the back pocket mightily!!! So anything that can help make this already difficult situation easier we're all for it!
mumof5 - The only reason we know anything about anything is that we've read, read, and read some more!!! ;) There's also an IVF advocate group that we've joined up with and there's a couple of medical journals that we've also signed up for and receive scientific studies from them as well ... we've also contacted quite a few IVF clinics for information packages as well, as we didn't know if we'd go with Melbourne or Tasmania ... see living here does have some perks!!! Also don't forget your local library, they have lots of IVF books to help you understand ... including one written especially for the blokes ... I'm sure Rols has probably read it, it's very good too.
If you want to know any info on where I got my info from and where you can get your own feel free to PM me, and I'll tell you where I got my info from if you want ... I won't bombard this forum with all the links, no doubt it's illegal and even if it's not there's a few and it'd be a pain!
Diva...I know King Island...my Parents best friends parents lived there...can't remember there first names ...Ford is their surname? Wow...that really makes the whole IVF journey interesting/challenging/$$$$! Having had an ectopic I'd be staying close to the hospital intil 8 weeks!!! But I'm a big sook!
Feeling heaps better today!!even did a bit of shopping and im back at work tomorrow - only in the office though!
My boss is a real gem and i thank her for all the love and surport that she has given me (she really needs Friday off and cant take it without me being there so as long as im not lugging around 15kg babies i feel fine to go in, not that she asked i HAD to offer.
I think all the pain that i had been getting was mainly to do with my bowel!!and it was just luck that they did a scan and could see how large my ovaries really were or i think TF would have gone ahead no worries!!Onve my bowel opened my pain was GONE!!(must be someone up there not wanting me to really suffer)
My blood work was all fine so they may have gone ahead with just that too, but haveing the large ovaries is what made my DFS stop and really think about it, and he said with the quality of the embies so far????who knows, which makes me feel like kicking myself for not screaming about the dose a little more, i did Q it several times ARE YOU SURE THIS IS THE DOSE YOU WANT ME ON???????? ive always got 16/17 eggs on 150-175iu??????
Anywhoo thats that now and i just have to look forward to getting going when i can again!!and with my cycles who knows when that will be!!!or even if i do it again this year, we are off to London to see my family in December so who knows ????
MO5 - what is the difference between having and not having the spray??? my saniety!!with my first IVF cycle i was like - 'whats the big deal this is really not that bad' but after now having gone through 9 cycles - dont ask (two canciled) I have seen the other side without syneryl. The syneryl really turns your ovaries off so that when you start the FSH injections they kick start (but not always hey BG?) A flare cycle is a cycle without the down reg - no pill no spray no shutting down your ovaries. Most women with PCOS find this cycle better for them. - And dont worry im still learning heaps from here too, and hitting my FS with all my Q hehehehe
Nic - whoohoo your nurse sounds great - i wish mine would return my calls!!!I dont get the overnight accomidation??? do you live that remote?? and dont stress about trigger - once its done its done, if it helps think what labour might be like.hehehe
OMG OMG I HAVE TO POST THIS NOW - My nurse just called and i have 12 BLASTIES FROZEN!!!!!!!!!!I can not believe it OMG thats the best thing to come out of this cycle
Great news Lou!!!! So happy to hear you're feeling better xxx

God, I'm so far behind now, so apologies to anyone I miss.
Welcome Mrs Eeyore and KLF. Hope things are going well for you both.
Chez67, how's things?
TL and Sonya, I've now caught up on where you're at and it's all rather exciting.
Speaking of exciting, what about Lou and her 37,546 blasties? I don't know if it's this thread but you all have been great little producers lately.
Hippymum, how goes it?
Nic, glad the nurse conversation went well. It would seem having good nurse/s is as important as having a good FS.
Blayz, hi. Just thought I'd say hello as your saw your post way back there.
Diva, I figured you were on King. I can almost smell that NW coast air now. I'm from up there too (not King).
Hi to everyone else. I had no idea what a down reg or flare cycle was until today, and I still don't think I know, but whatever. All I know is DW is not on the nasal spray stuff.
Had my blood test yesterday to make sure that I don't give the IVF people any diseases. Apart from that nothing is happening I don't think.
Ok MIL gone .................................................. .................................................. ..
where was i?
Rols - gosh you make me laugh and yep your right 37,546!!!thats what it feels like, i guess the only downer of this all is that i still dont know if it will lead to me being pg - out of interest i have counted all the embies i have had TF and have come to 16, thats 16 chances of pg that i have already had and every time im told that my embies have been ok-good so ?????is there somthing else that they are missing?? Glad to hear that you are making progress on your journey and hope that all your results mean that you can start asap. is your wife doing down reg at the mo without spray just pill? or waiting for af? GL hun
Holly - i know you have visitors but hoping you are well?
Jo - youve been very quiet with this TWW - i hope your resting and have all things crossed for you darling.
Sonya - whhoooo at last you have your embie on board, and am i right in thinking that your BT is not far away? 9days? thats very shortxxsorry your not feeling too good but maybe the rest is all that you need ????xx
KLF - welcome, im sorry you have been down this road so many times before hopeing 3rd time lucky for you hun.xx oh and i remember KLF being a pop band in the uk in the early 90ies ??or just chance??
Diva - gosh what a way to go, hoping you dont have to do it too many times hun, still we keep going with whatever the world throws at us hey!and any Q - ask away, like i said befor i still am.hehe and this is the place to ask
BG - how you feeling - still crappy, do what you tell all others and drink as much as you can. ive slacked off today but will start again soon
Ellie - update me please with how things are going, any dates yet?
TL - hope your resting too hun
Sushee - thank you xx
Blayz - how you feeling with the increased dose??
Hi to all, im sure there are a few more
Lou...no dates yet...still waiting for AF...I was 6 weeks post d&c on Wednesday and the wicked witch is still hiding...as soon as she arrives I phone the clinic...day 2 BT then puregon starts day 3...as long as my levels are ok to go...so I'm getting impatient now!
Oh Ellie this wait wait wait is not fair,
did your clinic say that if she hasnt arrived in say another two weeks they will do a bt??? if not i would ask or get a gp to do it. just so you feel like you are doing something, as thats the hardest part i think!
are your cycles regular? i know what you have been through lately would affect whats happening but i hope you get the green light soon hunxx
hiya Lou
still feeling ordinary - ended up with a migraine last night - poor DH was ready to turn his truck around and come straight home - it's extremely rare for me to cry when i'm hurting, but i was in so much pain i cried and cried last night - and it hurt to talk to him on the phone. he was so worried. he rang my mum (who he can't stand) and asked her to come out today if i still wasn't well and take me to the doctor/chiro. woke up feeling a little better this morning, but still headachy, and of course, the chiro has gone on leave til next week, so off to the gp for a med cert and not going back to work this week. just living on water (gonna try home made soup for dinner), and resting upbig time. been checking in on BB, but limited posting - energy/creativity levels pretty low today. hopefully things will be back to normal-ish tomorrow
sorry for no personals -i swear i've read the updates for the past few days at least three times today, and nothing has sunk in at all!
Thanks Lou...that's a really good idea...I think I'll go to the clinic Monday on the way to work if she hasn't turned up by then!
Lou...just phoned the clinic and they said they won't do a blood till 8 weeks post d&c...ahhhhh....more waiting!!!
Oh Ellie thats no good
well i say try your GP and just act all inisent, you no like ummmm, just wondering if i could have my hormones checked to see if i o as i have had a af since ..........and im starting to get all stressed about it and this would really help my state of mind ect.....
Great thinking Lou...I feel like she's close...will wait till Monday!
GREAT NEWS LOU WEll done hun xoxoxox
Hi Everyone,
So busy in here!
Loula - Yipppeeee 12 snowbubs! How awesome! You could name them January to December hehehehehe! I am so happy for you. I have the all seasons with my embies 4! Well done. You must be so ecstatic. Hope things move forward for you quickly.:happyforyou:
Rols - Wishing you well with your results!
Sonya - Hope you are feeling better soon. Dont worry about having the flu, just keep an eye on your temperature. Rest & keep those fluids pumping!
Me - Scientist called today with final results. They froze 3 blasties today so I have a total of four. Not bad out of 12. 8 sounds like such a big loss but have to concentrate on the ones we have. Progesterone has certainly kicked in! I have been a snapper head all day.
A big :hello: to everyone!
Could everyone please just get pregnant...I am just not keeping up with all these posts!!! I'm so sorry that i can't say hi to everyone...there's just no time - i need to be in bed before dawn :p
Lou, you are amazing...I am so so happy for you! Really thrilled
Diva, be patient...start with a down reg, and see how you go. My FS says you get much better egg quality after your ovaries have a rest. (In most cases ). It might be the difference between only needing one stim cycle.
Hi Ellie - have you had your phone consult yet? Sorry if you already said and i missed it.
Nic - :hello:
Good Luck and big Hi to all...and go to the chat room if you are up for a chat - it was good fun last night...except Diva can type really fast...so i looked a bit slow
Jo
Remember the 1 in 3 rule, Tracey. In which case you are spot on.
Gr8 to hear from you jo. I really wanted to get in the chat but couldnt. Waiting for password email ! Feeling a few pains tonight but i think i havent drunk enough.. Oh posting from my phone tonight so might not be able to keep up with the chat tonight. Hehe
TL - if it makes you feel better my 1st cycle was 8 eggs, 6 mature, 5 fertilised, 1 made it to day 2
2nd cycle was 13 eggs, 11 mature, 10 fertilised, 4 made it to day 2.
So considering you have gone to blasties...I think it was a really good cycle - be proud of you little snowbubs!! Damn that Crinone though - it makes me cry, and feel sorry for myself - as if the TWW wasn't hard enough!!
Lou....Q...why is it so important to keep drinking water?????? And also after you have had a tranfer done do you still have to take any drugs at all??
Mo5 when you have ohss your body starts to dehydrate and so its important to keep up your fluids. Saturday i drank nearly 6lt of gatoaid.(sp ?)and still could not pee !so that was when i guessed something was up. Also i have heard BG say that iu is important while you are injecting. But in not very good at drinking !ill be lucky to get two glass of water on a good day. Drinking warm water is really good for your blood. And essentualy that is what your body is made up of so to make another you would think you would need to be well hydrated. As for the meds after tf some women need P4 gel or pessaries they both do the same this is for your progesterone until your body starts to produce its own. Others have HGC boosters and in sure there may also be a few other ways clinics do there cycles and what meds they want you on. HTH X
Hey There,
Rols - Can you believe the 3 in 1 rule? I nearly fell off the chair!! Rules are meant to be broken arent they hehehehe! Yeah, Yeah, Im the Miss Goody Two Shoes that has to keep with the rules. Hope you all can break it and get better odds to prove those statistics wrong!
Kotare - Thanks for the confidence build! Your cycle seems so similar. It more or less aligns with Rols rule; for every 3 embies, 1's a goody. Thx for sharing.
Tracey
Thanks LOU.Boy there is so much to know and learn. I guess the 24th the nurse will tell me more and i'll have a heap of questions for her.
Take care
Em
Traceylee - YAY for your 4 blasties :) I like your attitude of concentrating on the ones you've got, I will definately remember that in a few months time.
Lou - OMG at your 12 blasties! Hope you don't have to wait too long for transfer. Our accommodation thing.. we're not really remote, but the first FS we saw doesnt want to refer us onto the closer clinic, he said "that guy at that clinic" does 50 cases a year, whereas the FS he is referring us onto does 500 per year. We were told that we would have to get to Brisbane the day before EPU by FS#1, (he said we wouldn't see anyone from the clinic until I go in for EPU) but the nurse the other day said we would need to go to the clinic first, have FS#2 do a follow up u/s from FS#1 and then we will find out when we trigger, so we would have to be down there a couple of days before EPU...that's where the extra couple of days accommodation come in. Probably didn't explain that one too well either hey :) I'm trying to get something close by the clinic/day theatre, but it is bordering on the CBD area, so there are some nice prices there too LOL!
BG - Hope your feeling better today. Migraines suck!
Ok, onto the drinking plenty of water discussion! Our nurse told me that as soon as we start injections, she wants me drinking 2-3 ltrs a day, AND eating LOTS of protein as well. Won't that be nice on a 1000 klm car trip LOL!
