Good luck tomorrow, Mel! I'll be interested in hearing how your DH goes with the varicocele surgery... mine's doing the typical male thing of sticking his head in the sand and ignoring it for now. Fine by me, there's only so much I can handle happening all at once! I'd always thought my DH didn't do the typical male thing of the world is ending when they are sick... he's been through colds, asthma, all that sort of thing and I have trouble getting him to stop... This tummy bug - yikes! He's all better now, but I've never before seen that aspect of him - maybe we should just leave the varicocele as is - I'd hate to see him recovering from surgery on his sensitive bits!

I'm thinking the day off on Wednesday would be good... but the other side of things is that the distraction of being at work would also be good - otherwise I'll sit and stare at the phone all day. I suspect it will be a last minute decision in the end.

i would take the day off. go pamper yourself and if you get fab news then you can race to your computer and tell us impatient girls here at BB (ha!ha!)

1 week to go! how cool... do you have a long weekend in sydney, if so are you going to do something special - it could be your last chance as a couple before you officially become a family...how exciting!!!

Yep, long weekend here. We had our special weekend together last weekend before the transfer. This coming long weekend I'm going to be finishing off my reports... which were meant to be finished today - oops! The people that matter know my situation, and I'm fine to take until Tuesday... We'll find some time to do something nice, but not the full-on intensive relaxation thing of last weekend.

Looks like the vote is very much swinging towards taking the day off... When I consider that there's nowhere private to take a phone call there - probably a damn good idea!

Just lurking here...and wanted to say a big good luck to BW!!! I'll be praying for you!

How many days after O is your BT day? With me, I knew that it was 2 days after AF was due, so I did a test at home 1 day after AF was due (day before BT) so that I could cry at home in peace if it was negative. I didn't want to take the whole day off to drive myself crazy thinking about it !! Just a thought for you... Good luck though!!! I really hope it's a BFP for you!

I am so late to the BW day off discussion - definitely a pro con list type decision... I'd lean to half a day like you BW, guilt over not working would get me and I'd be better with the distraction, but only good if the call is guaranteed to happen after you get home.

Mel - Good luck to you and DH today, hope everything goes very smoothly for you both.

BG - Woo hoo, drug free stress free time, a small bonus in the world. 2 whole weeks of play time...

I've been MIA for a few weeks. After our holiday we had to come back and start packing to move house. We moved out of our old house completely last week and settling into the new one. I've had no internet at home for about 3 weeks (and it's been killing me!) and am currently on dial up while we wait and see if we can get broadband out here in the sticks. So, I'm sloooowly getting around the site and trying to catch up!
I was meant to start my next down reg cycle about 2 weeks ago but decided to delay again. Mainly due to the move and having house guests for a week who don't know we are doing IVF. It all just seemed too hard at the time. I figure this way I am well and truly ready to go when the time comes. I should be on the pill around the 22nd of this month which will mean pick up end of July.

BW, a big congrats for being in the TWW and having a very clever embie so you can still have 3 others safely tucked away inthe freezer. I have thought of you often over the last couple of weeks but couldn't get on here to check on you! Will be keeping everything crossed for you for your BT next week.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone again, and hopefully some exciting announcements will be coming out of here very soon!!

    Hi Everyone!!!

Well, we're back from Melbourne (with the weather) and everything went great!

Before I tell you what happened, I guess I need to give you a little background, as I haven't yet gotten around to starting a TTC journal!!!

Basically, to cut a long story short, when I gave birth to Luke almost 9yrs ago, I had to have an emergency c/s after being in unprogressive labour for 56 and a half hrs (yes, it was lovely
Anyway, it was in a small public hospital, my doctor was overseas and I had whoever was on duty do the surgery.
Seemingly, he didn't do a very good job - I was "sewn up the wrong way" (my gyn's words after he came back from being overseas and almost had a heart attack once finding out what happened), and both myself and all of the other women that had c/s that day ended up with a major infection in our c/s wounds.
It was extremely bad, I was on antibiotics for about a month afterward, and had to have a nurse come to our house twice a day for approx 3 weeks after I came home from hospital to attend to the wound.
9 yrs later, I still haven't had any feeling at all in that area (not even the numbness most women have), and all of my docotrs have told me since that the scar will need to be re cut and fixed before I gain feeling back.
I've been told to wait until my next baby to have this done, so as to not make the wall of the womb any weaker than what it is because of all of this.

ANYWAY! Theres some history for you... as soon as I walked into Antonias rooms, she knew exactly what was wrong.
She said that the nerve endings have never met back up in that area, and all of the meridien points (think acupuncture) have been "cut off" in the area, so the whole area at the moment has no life.
She said there is no way that a baby could grow there ATM beacuse that area needs to be warm and "alive".
She said that this can cause the eggs to be of lesser quality, too, because the whole area surrounding it its lazy, and so my ovaries aren't working to their potential. It also explains why the chinese herbs & acupuncture helped with our last IVF cycle, but she said my uterus would never accept the embryos back until everything in the area is restored.
She is confident she can fix it so I can fall pregnant and carry to term, and then once I have a second c/s, the surgeons can fix the scar surgically.
After the consult, I had a session of pulse therapy, where she said I would feel a "buzz" through my body, and she would start to put some life back into the area around my scar.
She left me for about 20 mins and told me when she came back I would have the first signs of feeling back there again...
She had both DH & Luke feel the pulses as well (pretty amazing), and when she came back and felt the area, I had feeling there!!!
Its the first time in 9 yrs that I have felt anything there at all.
She gave both DH & myself a tonic each mixed with specific herbs for each of us, and also some capsules to take (her own formula) for the blocked tubes.
She has asked us not to do any IVF for the time being - She is confident we can fall pregnant naturally, and has asked us to give her 4 months....
I am just so happy, and am extremely confident that this has got to be as good as anything we have tried so far!!!
She also believes I would benefit from a few sessions of hypnotherapy to help my subconcious deal with the trauma of Lukes birth & any negative energy about the failed IVF cycles.
I'm going to look into this in the next few weeks.
Antonia is going to be in Sydney once a month, too, seeing select patients, and has already told me that she'd like to fit me in for her next visit...

    So!!!
All is good with us, and am feeling very positive about everything... time will tell now!!

Sorry this is such a self absorbed post - I wanted to share my happiness with you all, and I have SOOO much to catch up on after 3 days of being away!!!

I'll pop back on later tonight for some personals!!!

    Love Holly

Wow Holly sounds like you had great news in Melbourne, im glad you are feeling happier and more positive good luck with everything!
Well, firstly thanks for all the thoughts from yesterday. To start, i went to FS on my own because that appt was at 1130 and DH time to be in hospital was 1200. FS asked what DH was up to??? I said varicocele repair...he didnt seem that impressed, just asked if it had been bothering him... Hmmm, i said no but we were willing to try anything, even though it may not make a difference to the SA results... So i was a bit blah about that. Next he said from the tissue sample from the d&c, no chromosomal abnormality detetcted although this could still have been the reason for m/c. He also said was a girl So that nasty bill for $800 didnt really tell as much, apart from being a girl which was really sad. Next, FET this month if cycle is ok. Having some bloods at end of next week, is natural cycle which will be fantastic, so all we have to do is sit and wait.
On to DH, everything went well yest. Hehe, met the lovely surgeon... He was pleasent He did say the varicocele was quite large, which we kinda think is good because maybe it will make diff to SA!!! Thats what we are hoping. DH is feeling a bit sorry for himself, walking around like he has a big stick between his legs Has quite karge cut just above groin, and also a lovely large shaved area!!! BW, you can actually feel the area where they have tied the veins off, like a little lump in the teste, so not sure if this will go down or not, will have to wait til f-up appt. So all good so far... We are both glad he had the surgery even if it makes no diff at all, about time the navy finally pays for something!! He is going to be off work for a bit so will be nice to have him around for a change.
BW- hope everything is going well, also Ellie, sorry about the infection hope its not too long before you start to feel better, and let us know how things went with work!
And to everyone else, hope all is well and positive!!

Holly, so great to hear that you've had good news! I'm really hoping that Antonia's pills and potions work for you.

Mel, thanks for the update! Will be interesting to hear how your DH's recovery progresses... DH still hasn't got back to his urologist to see what the next step is. Sorry to hear about the lack of answers from the testing... hope the natural FET cycle works!

Ellie, really hope you get better soon!

Will keep the self-absorbed obsessing for my journal... but I think things are looking good here. Still incredibly early though, so not getting too carried away with things.

    to all!
