Hi Krikkit
I saw a couple of your posts and wanted to reply, as I always wondered the same thing about time of puregon, am vs. pm. My new clinic suggested we inject in the evenings, so that if I have a BT that morning, they can alter the dose for that evening. Which I thought made sense, but dont worry if you have started in the mornings, I did morning shots with my last 3 cycle's, as we didnt have BT monotoring there.
I am surprised your clinic didn't give you a demo on how to inject, make sure you ring and talk to the nurses if you have any queries, or we can give you our opinions and advise until they get back to you :p
Krikkit, sorry, I missed that post... My Dr prefers I do my injections in the morning. Don't know why? I'm glad your first one went well.
Is this your first cycle with injects? My puregon dose was a lot higher but I had used 75-100iu in IUI cycles and didn't produce many follicles so we knew I needed more for IVF.
I did all my injections in the morning, except the trigger which was in the evening. We weren't told when to do the daily injections, but DH and I worked out that the morning was more convenient for us because:
DH would get me out of bed to do the injection and be there to help me out if necessary (he wasn't always at home in the evenings);
Mornings were easier because we would both be at home (trying to organise an injection whilst out at the movies or having dinner with friends just didn't work for us);
And morning injections just fit better with our routine (get up, eat breakfast, inject, have a shower, etc).
What ever suits you - and good luck!
Emerald Star - It would be great to have an IVF buddy. At this stage I have no idea when AF will arrive but if she sticks to the usual schedule I will probably be about a week behind you. I will keep you posted after my FS appointment next week and see when AF decides to pop in. As for the success rates and the age difference - I wouldn't worry to much about that.... Just fingers crossed that there will be BFPs for both of us. I have never had a confirmed pregnancy and I don't think my Lap showed up anything too strange, although I was rather groggy from the anaesthetic when my FS came by. She did tell me she drained a blood filled ovarian cyst, but that had shown up on an ultrasound so I had expected that....... Guess I will learn more next week.
Miss K - it is funny that AF can become something to look forward too. Good luck with your treatment. I hope it is your time to shine!
Krikkit - good luck with your treatment and the injections. I am not entirely sure how the doses and injections work for IVF but I was on 50 puregon when I did IUI. We are hoping to start IVF soon so I will now be interested to see what they put me on. I guess everyone responds diffrently so its just a case of you and your FS finding out what works best for you. They may have started you on a lower dose to see how you react and avoid OHSS.
Smithy - Yes congratulations to you & DH. It is fantastic inspiration to see someone else on the journey reach their dream!! Wishing you a H&H 9 months ahead
Hi All! Well what a ride i've been having. Last Wednesday I went in for my EPU.....24 eggs!!! and too many for a fresh transfer! damn. Anyway we ended up with 14 fertilized eggs and 5 eggs that made it through to the freezer.....we're pretty happy with it all. The only bummer is we now need to wait until the end of this cycle, then we have to have the next month off before we can do the transfer.....back in the waiting game! I've possibly got the option of transfering two embryo's but I'd like to know the risks (if any) that are involved. Does anyone know?
Baby2bee, we did single embryo transfers for IVF#1 and our only FET. For IVF#2 and this one (IVF#3) we have transferred 2 embryos. The main risk involved is that you may get twins.
Obviously you might get twins (or more) if you have two embies transferred, but the risks are that twin pregnancies have greater risks of m/c and low birth weights, amongst other things. I would suggest googling IVF & multiple transfers to see what comes up, & talking about it with your FS. If it was just about possibly having 2 babies then it might not be such a huge decision - you take the risks with the pregnancy as well. Good luck.
Thank you so much for the replies.
yes, this is our 1st cycle. I imagine that this is a bit of a trial run to see how my body reacts to the hormones. I feel quite "normal" just a bit tired, but that could be because I am getting up at 6am to do my injections :wall:
Krikkit - on my OI I did 50 then 75 units (Gonal F though but still FSH). This time (1st IVF) I started on 100 u of Puregon then it went to 200 half way through. They will want to start cautiously to avoid OHSS - it can be annoying though. In my OI I injected for 3 weeks and didn't respond so it was cancelled. But, slow and steady (hopefully) wins the race. Well done on getting through your first injections, or as I like to call them, stabs/jabs!! It took me ages the first time too. Now I'm definitely used to it. I do mine in the morning, and a couple of times the clinic got me to wait until the results of the BT before doing the jab, so that meant I had in mid-afternoon, but they didn't seem concern by me not taking it at exactly the same time each day.
B2B - congrats on getting 5 frosties! How exciting! My clinic only put back more than one if you are "over 40 and have 3 failed cycles" due to the risks associated with multiple births. For me they'll never do it as I have a blood clotting disorder.
Smithy - congrats on your little FET miracle!!!
Miss K - I hear you on the OMG I got AF front! Such an odd thing after so long! Glad things are moving forward.
AFM - 4 sleeps til BT! But I'm gonna POAS tomorrow - sorta freaked out by that and telling myself not to get too hopeful....
:crossfingers: im still lurking and crossing all my crossables girls.
many sticky vibes and good luck.
thank you all for my beautiful messages ,means a real lot
Hi all
Miss K - congrats on AF coming, so happy for you and that you can move forward now with heaps more chance of getting that little miracle. GL. Im managing to keep myslef occupied until July - thanks for your thoughts.
Smithy - Huge congratulations! All the best for a H&H pregnancy. You give many people hope - thank you.
Krikit - I was on 75iu Puregon 1st IUI then they boosted me up to 100 for the 2nd try. I'll be interested to see what they put me on for IVF. All the very best with it all!
Baby2Bee - Well done on the eggs, keep yourself busy and the time will fly by. All the best.
Best wishes to everyone, wherever you are in your cycles, may we all get BFP in 09!! x
Wow, so many more people now... Hope you are all doing great!
I will try to keep on with everyone's cycles...
Mitf, I had a lap last Dec. and I had a cyst removed from my left ovary. AF arrived 5 days after surgery, just in time (30 days cycle). FS suggested for me to wait one month until I could start an IVF cycle. In my case I waited a little longer because we had holidays booked.
Baby 2bee, My case was exactly the same as yours... I had 23 eggs collected and couldn't do a fresh transfer... so I waited AF very excited... now I'm on estrogen pills and synarel. On the 18th June I will have a scan to check if uterus lining is thick enough. If so, they will thaw 4 embies on that same day, after that we will wait until blastocyst stage and transfer 1 embryo. I'm not sure what they will do with the remaining embies...but cientist said in some cases they can re-freeze.
For all of you waiting, I wish you GL. Time flies...and you will be starting your cycle very soon!!
TWW girls, all the best! Hope all goes well and you get positive results!!!
I will be away but come back in time to let you know about my FET.
Take care!:)
Hi Girls,
I haven't been on for awhile as my computer had come down with a virus...all fixed now and back to my threads..i was starting to get withdrawal symptoms......not having access to read whats happening with you guys is worse than the 2ww!
Mitf - how are u going? R u still IVF in July? Looks like Loops12 might be joining us too...yepee!!!!:leap:
AFM - I have to wait till AF shows up around 2nd July to start my first cycle. My FS has put me on the Antagonist Cycle and we are doing ICSI with 2 embies transferred. Lets hope we get at least two beauties:pray:
Just wondering if anyone else has had any success with my protocol? I would love to hear from anyone who can lift my spirits......i am excited about IVF #1 but at the same time i am worried about not getting enough follicles and good eggs because of my age.
Good luck to you all!!:stickyvibesgirl::stickyvibesboy:

Hi all
Esperan - have fun on your holidays!
Emerald Star - yep July for me too - looks like there will be a few of us - yay :hooray:
Lets hope we all have success.
Looks like the two of us have shared the same journey so far - 2 IUI's 2009 and 1st IVF in July - lets hope it continues with BFP's and pg's together!
I know what you mean - Im a bit worried about all that too even being younger its still all a worry. Plenty of women your age get pg though so stay pos. We'll get there!!
Hi girls,
I have my BT tomorrow but I'm 100% sure it will be -ve.
POAS - Fri and Sat = +ve, today (twice) = -ve. No AF but I don't get it normally anyway so that's no indication.
The +ve's really got my hopes up and now I just feel completely devastated. Sometimes life just seems so unfair - why can some people get pg without even trying when they don't even want a baby, and those of us that do really struggle?
We have one blastie in the freezer - not sure how soon I'll be able to do a FET. I'd like to asap.
Our clinic sent a letter last week about the changes to the safety net that basically advises that from 1 Jan 2010 the OOP costs per cycle will go up by $1500-2000.
That means each full cycle will be OOP $3300-3800. Such great timing for that kind of information. Also means they will be super busy for the next 7 months while people try to cram in as many cycles as they can.
Loops12 - do you know what protocol you're having for ivf? Do you have any idea when you will be starting?
I agree I hope JULY is the month for :bfp::pray: for all of us.
It would be so good to see and compare all our symptoms during the 2ww. I know it will certainly pass the time for me and i will be eagerly awaiting for chats everyday. Friens and family are supportive, but sometimes i think i talk their ear off too much and they are too nice to tell me its getting tedious for them....lucky i have you guys.
MrsP - tomorrow is another day..keeping my :crossfingers:that all is :bfp:
To everyone else good luck and keep the posts coming....

Mrs P sorry to heard your not doing so well. I hope there is still a chance that it might be a BFP after all - so good luck for tomorrow anyway.
Emerald Star well AF arrived like normal on Friday which was great. I have a FS appointment Wed afternoon to discuss the outcomes of my Lap and should have a plan after that. I am guessing I will be put on a down regulation cycle so will start synarel later this cycle, before AF due again 10 July, which means my egg collection would be about the 24 July.
Loops hanging out till Wed when I find out if I am definitely on IVF in July. If so it will make three of us with 2 x IUI this year and our first IVF. Maybe it's a sign of good things to come!
Esperan thanks AF arrived bang on time for me also, one week after my Lap. Enjoy your holiday - I hope you are going somewhere warm!
