Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception Nov 2012

Hear, hear!!

I don't have PCOS, but I do wonder about hormone imbalance. It bugs me that I got a BFP so quickly while BF and had so much trouble since she weaned. Makes me wonder if the BF was helping stabilise my hormones. I'd ask my FS about it, but I'm sure he'll dismiss the idea. I really need to find a FS that thinks outside the box, because this rigid thinking is driving me nuts... In the meantime, I'm hoping I can drive by next weekend to go to acupuncture and discuss the idea with her. I'm sure she'll have some ideas.

N2l, I blame all the hormones we are pumping into ourselves for the slap threat ;) at least that's what I tell myself.

Wishanddream, sorry you didn't get better results. It can be frustrating that our bodies refuse to obey. FX for a great start to the new year with a nice positive IVF cycle.

Andie, how are you feeling today hon? I hope you aren't feeling any OHSS symptoms.

Hi to everyone else.

AFM, just waiting for AF to start so I can hopefully start our first transfer cycle, a natural FET. AF is one day late so just hoping my body isn't still screwy after my stim cycle. On a completely different topic, I am in South Korea today. I was offered a promotion at work. It means more travel but more money. It sucks but, more money means being better able to afford IVF, especially since DH is not working, but now timing is going to be even more key. Enough complaining from me. Hope you all have wonderful days ahead.

Thanks miloro, i was quite upset yesterday but my hubby was kind enough to come home early from work to be with me.so that helped.and i am now alot more positive and ready to start ivf after xmas.

miloro - thanks, im feeling a bit better today. bit of a rough epu this time round, 13 eggs & an extra injury during procedure meant that i have been quite sore & it hurts to walk, lay down, pee etc. they are still monitoring me for ohss, but i think i will be ok. just wont be able to do the pregnyl boosters for progesterone support like i wanted to though. i will make do with just the crinone to be on the safe side. hopefully af turns up for you soon and you can get going with your FET when you get back from korea. :)

Afm - not much happening with me. Just waiting for bt Wednesday then find out where we are going from there. It is such a different feeling doing nothing than only 2 months ago feeling so crap & bloated from gonal f & orgalutran. I am a much happier relaxed girl at the moment. I'm sure after transfer will be just as nerve racking though.

I would love to join and have someone to talk and ask questions to as i have told no one im ttc again. I have been trying ttc for 7 months now with nothing, i realise that is not long but it took me 3 and a half years to fall
pregnant with my 9 month old and am scared im running out of time age wise if it's going to take that long again. I've decided to do iui in december my doctor was going to put me on clomid to do the iui ( i have been on clomid
all up including before my DS3 2.5 years and it did not work) and i have read that injectables with trigger have a higher success rate a friend of ours just fell pg first time with iui doing injectables. So my question is are injectables
better for success in iui and should i try to do back to back iui so do iui one day then again the next day? The reason i'm waiting till december is i really really need to lose some weight.

Just wanted to say welcome rai, sorry I can't answer your question but I'm sure the other ladies will be able to - I haven't on the ivf journey long enough yet but I can tell you these ladies in here have so much knowledge and I'm learning a lot from them :)

Rai, hi and welcome! The higher success rate with injectables is usually due to having more eggs released. More eggs = more chances. There is, however, a risk of multiples and/or cancellation if you produce too many mature follicles. It also took us 3.5 years to conceive DD, so I understand where you're coming from. We have now been TTC#2 for 17 months... GL with the clomid.

Beau, good to hear you're feeling nice and relaxed for the time being. KUP on how it goes on Wednesday. My ankle is quite sore today. I've been trying to make do without the crutches because I have to go to work tomorrow, so I may have overdone it? Poor DH and DD will have to get up early to drive me to work too, because I definitely can't drive (it's my right ankle, so can't use the accelerator or brake) and there's no public transport close by.

I think AF will arrive soon and I have no idea if prices have gone up.

I am planning on contacting the new fertility clinic in Dandenong this week as its closer and seems to be cheaper too. We are waiting on Laparoscopy at the moment and hopefully we will know what happens next after that. FX we can get bumped up the waiting list...

Thanks for the heads up. How have you found them Jo? I have had a few appointments with Monash but I feel like they are quite disconnected and the appointments felt rushed :(

Dandenong would be closer that is for certain and from the info I have now much cheaper. We are still ttc while we wait for the Laparoscopy.

I find them AMAZING!!! They are so positive and supportive!!! This is my first cycle with them and they have been amazing since the start!!! I overload them with questions all the time (I put it down to the fact I'm a nurse and want to know EXACTLY what is happening) and they always answer my questions without making me feel like I'm hassling them! It is a real family environment there and I'm so glad I found them!!! Years ago we had some testing done at Monash and I felt the same as you do now!
Dandenong is just fab- close to home for me too and so cheap for IVF! I'm currently having OI and it is all bulk billed!!! I only pay for my medications and I'm only paying $5.80 for 900IU of Puregon, so I am extremely lucky!!

I have been with both MIVF and now Monash. I can honestly say I haven't had a problem with either of them :dunno:

Wishanddream, how are you feeling today. On Seoul, no idea if it is beautiful. I only had one day free for sightseeing (yesterday) and it was rained out. The next five days will just be in the office.

Jo, it is so great you have found a clinic that you feel really supports you. And bulk bills! That almost seems like a dirty word these days.

Where is AF? Sorry to get impatient but this is really starting to bug me. Should have come Saturday (I'm pretty regular) but I don't even have any signs. I tried exercising yesterday to see if that brought her on. Every little twinge I get I'm running to the bathroom. I don't even know if I O'd this cycle. We certainly didn't DTD much so I know I'm not UTD. I'm not a patient person. This whole waiting gig is just not me!

Just a question... I'm having my scan on Thursday then seeing the FS to find out when EPU will be. I've come down with what I think is laryngitis and I'm really worried if I still have it on Thursday they might say I'm not well enough to go under general anesthetic??? Do you think it will make any difference?

It shouldn't make a difference Faye, unless you have a fever or something. Hope everything goes to plan!

AF is MIA for me too Miloro. I thought I would have some bleeding by now as I took my last pill on Wednesday, but nada :(
One thing I do have (and tmi here) is copious amounts of wet CM :o
Not sure what is causing that????!!!! It's not usual for me.

I have my BTto check hormone levels are base tomorrow. I'm guessing they won't be if I haven't bled :dunno:

One question for the Dandenong girls - do they just do basic IVF and ICSI? Or do they do the magic extra stuff too? Can you see your own FS? Thanks!

Faye, it would be best to check with your clinic about their policies. I had a cold for my 3rd EPU and it wasn't a problem. I was told that I was fine to proceed as long as I had no chest congestion.

Thanks Juniper I will, I'll hold off a couple of days in case I get better but at the moment I have no other flu symptoms and no chest congestion so FX it will be ok...

hey N2L - I was bleeding during my first scans when I had the down reg cycle.... in fact I think it only started the day before.... your hormones would be baseline as your body hasn't done anything.... I think they say something about it 'possibly getting a break through bleed' so they don't even consider it AF (although I do...) maybe you won't get one at all???

Faye - I was sick three out of three stim cycles, and TWO of them I was sick during EPU.... it sucked bad :( I was chesty and mucousy as well and they still went ahead.... so you should be fine... it's just annoying cause you are so tired and hormonal, it tops it off nicely... not!!

AFM.... feeling a bit blue today.... I have been so 'okay' for a while now, I'd forgotten what feelings feel like ;) I think I O'd last week - maybe Wednesday or Thursday I think... so I guess I'm in the TWW, but don't really feel like it.... I just want AF to arrive so I can get started.... does anyone else get emotional after ovulation, I'm feeling like maybe that's it...? cause it just feels like it's come out of nowhere..... I guess I can 'find' reasons for why.... but they don't make sense.... anyway... I'm just babbling now.... just no one else to share with, and DH would just look at me strangely if I asked him .... :lol:

So after a call from the dande clinic, I also got a call from southern health to confirm my details as since we last went to Monash, we got married and I have started to change my name. Hopefully I will get a letter to confirm cat2 waitlist for Laparoscopy.

Still waiting O, may be there in a day or 2 as I have ferning signs today.

Sorry you are having a crappy day. It may brighten you up to know that after I read your response to me re: bleeding, I started bleeding! Some people may say it's a coincidence but you may have special powers!!!

Just thought I would drop in and say a big hi to everyone today! Sounds like everyone had a fair bit going on the last couple of days!
I've been busy helping my DH run gge family business for the last week while his folks are away so I guess it's kept me busy and not even realizing AF is still not here. Now CD 62
I can't believe it.
We have our app at the fs and nurse's and counselor and admin next Thursday 22nd. So getting a bit nervous about the whole thing tbh.



Also just wondering why a new thread was started and is there a way to go to the most resent one than havin to go through the other if that makes sence at all!

When your friends even noticed you are a short tempered cow it sucks. I hate having no control over myself, DH is feeling it really bad, he said I am much worse this time, I just wish I could control it but I can't.

Wish I could just put myself in a room along for the 6wks of meds. It scares me what I will be like if we do get pregnant, cant see my hormones getting any better :-(

Why do we have to deal with all this for so long first argh !!!

miloro: I know, it really has become a dirty word... It's a shame, because so many people out there would love to be able to do IVF but can't afford it, and I am just so thankful I stumbled across TFC when I did!!! One of the best random google searches I have ever done!!! Lol!

faye: I'm a nurse and unless the patient is EXTREMELY sick, surgeries will still usually happen... If you are concerned though, call your dr, but I can't see it being cancelled/postponed or anything!!! As long as you don't have a major fever or signs of respiratory problems, you should be fine! :D

n2l: magic stuff???? If you wanna PM me what you wanna know, I can ask my nurse when she calls me in the morning, if I don't already know the answer!!! :)

According to DH, I have been an absolute cow!!! Lol... I told him to jab himself every single day for 18 days and tell me how he feels! AFM: I have been so busy with gym and life being crap and stuff... I hate how everything is just piling on right now, it is seriously stressing me out!!!! AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! On the positive side, I had another ultrasound today after being on 66.6 IU of Puregon for 6 days... The main follicle on my right was still 7mm so no change in that one for 12 days now, but the one on my left which was 6mm is now 8mm!!! Yay!!! I know it isn't much of a change and I was terrified my cycle would be cancelled but my nurse is happy for the cycle to continue, seeing as I don't have a 'regular cycle length'!!! She said if there was no change the cycle would have been cancelled, but with the growth it can continue!!! It is such a relief!!! I find out tomorrow what is happening with my dosage but she thinks it will increase again!!!

Myturn - hug hug hug is all I can send. I normally get emotional the week before AF is due but I do get irritable after 'O' as I get a bit sore around that time. That's when I am not doing a cycle. Our DH's just don't get it, wish they did a bit more, sucks feeling alone with hormones and emotions.

Rai- hi ive been doing iui for the past few months first round was with clomid then the next two with injections.it didnt work for me so im organizing ivf now but they did notice alot more follicles with injections.

Jo we are in for Dec 12th - I have to get referrals organized inbetween now and then and Medicare cards. I just updated my medicare info to my married name and we are going to go on 1 card (should make it easier)

seriously men just DO NOT get the emotional stuff we go through, I was telling DH about the call and then was saying southern health also called me (he thought it was a sales call or something) so after i got cross and then calmed down again, I explained that they were asking to confirm my name as they had 2 different records (maiden name and married name) - hopefully we will get a letter to say we are on the cat 2 list soon

Myturn, how are you feeling today? I think we all go through the emotional roller coaster. Those darling hubbies and partners can't ever really understand exactly how we feel. Sometimes I struggle to remember my DH has his own emotions about this too. Lotsa hugs to you.

ATM, officially my longest cycle. I know I shouldn't complain coz lots of you have killer long cycles, but I'm worried that the stim has messed me around. If it had been almost any other cycle I'd be running to the chemist for a hpt about now. Sorry for rant, have a great day ladies.

Small vent: This the longest AF I've had in years. Makes me wonder if last cycle was actually a chem pg? I've not had 5 days of heavy flow for as long as I can remember. I'm just hoping it ends today as I've well and truly had enough of it... :(

Just had a call with my BT results. My estrogen is 231 and it needs to be under 200 to start FSH, etc. I have to double my synarel dosage and have another BT on the 21st. So basically everything is pushed back a week :(
