hi girls ...
ET took place around 8am. It went very very well! I was given 2 vallium while in prep to relax my uterus so did the other girls waiting with me, made a couple of new friends today, then it took place, the scientist spoke to us while i was sitting waiting to lie down and pop my legs up in the stirrups (sp?) and the best egg out of them all is the natural ivf drop on egg, it was a 2 day, 4 cell and the best ICSI was a 2 day, 4 cell and my Dr was happy , the other 5 are a little fragmented and may not even make it to freezing, we will know the fate of them in 2 days. THIS MAY be our only shot and hubbie and I are okay with that, we are not doing this again ... having said that, after ET I went back to recovery and was given a brandy and another 2 vallium to relax me completely ... I got home and started watching Juno and passed out for hoursssssssssssssss I've had some twitches allready and I've allready had a little weird feeling that the natural ivf egg is a little boy and may be my sticky ... *fingers x* that's the 1st thought I got, so i'm gonna run with that .... Blood test is 22nd November and not before!! 16 days to wait .... I'm honestly OKAY if we cna't have anymore kids ....
I'm NOT giving up on this cycle though, we have 2 excellent eggies in me and sticky vibessssssssssss now :)
P.s Sorry for no personals .. will be back to do them later!!

21 ? I?m glad you feel a bit better with more information. Its always great when you have a better understanding of what is going on.
Possums, hang in there
Melss77, sorry to hear the Pregnyl injection hurt. Its gonna be less painful than actually giving birth, and for a great cause. Holding fingers for you
On Tra_k Congratulations
Everyone else, good luck and have a good weekend. I?ll try pop in while I?m away, but not sure how busy things will be
I had my HSG scan today, and it went ok. I was expecting worse, but its about the same as having an internal ultrasound, with a bit more lasting discomfort from the dye, but seems ok now The doc who did the scan said that the tubes all looked ok ? but I have to wait for my doc to confirm. Not what we wanted to hear, as we wanted to see a blockage, to explain why we have not conceived. Will see what the doc has to say next week, and see where we go from here;)

Brissie Girls?
lilmisshaveachat - is there a thread for Brissie girls? I'm IVF#1 (had first ET today) and would be interested in catching up with some Brissie girls if it works out. Can't make it tomorrow - we're moving house and relaxing post ET. I'd like to know if there are any more get togethers, if you can include me.

Hi bub4me..
There will be more catch ups in Brissy.. This is the second one and I missed the last one but was at the first... When the next one comes along I will let you know.. Otherwise there is a forum right down the bottom of the listed groups as a meet up and groups forum that you can keep an eye on.. Congrats on you ET.. I hope you are going well and I will keep an eye out to see how you are travelling... I lurk a lot but don't post much cause i'm on a natural cycle before starting serophene to stimulate my ovaries next cycle.. FS has us doing this for 3 cycles and then it will be IVF for us.. We are unexplained but I did have a Lap and they found a little bit of Endo and some scarring of one of my tubes so who knows how this will all play out... Good luck with moving house and the TWW..

hey guys just a quick question, if you have a referal from a gp to see a urologist will it cost anything? i dont want to waste money on something we dont need. I cant seem to find an answer anywhere and cant ring anyone as it is the weekend and would love to know! also I was considering doing ivf at a place called westmead fertility clinic in sydney the prices are unbelievable! its a not for profit clinic and its only 1500 upfront for first ivf icsi cycle and u get 1000 back after medicare!!! AND only 185 or so dollars for an iui! do u think maybe it is better to go to somewhere more expensive, is ivf a get what u pay for type thing? its cheaper if we fly down for treatment and would love to know what u think!
-
Hi 21
Yes, I"m pretty sure you would need to pay for the urology consultation -as for price, first consults are usually around the $200 mark.
I'm not sure about Westmead, it's possible that someone here goes there and they can fill you in.....it sure sounds very reasonable.
Have you seen the prices in the USA? Unbelievable....can be up to $10,000 a cycle, and there are waiting lists etc.
WE are pretty lucky here I think, considering.

Hi neptune do you think its better to bypass a urologist and get a fertility specialist referral? I see your partner also has poor sperm, what does he have and what treatments did you go for? mine has 89 percent abnormal where 85 is the cut off point for "normal" he also had a volume of only 1.5mls where 2 or above is normal. Im really confused with what to do. He got blood work done a few days ago for hormone levels and thyroid function and will get results next week im thinking of waiting to see what they say before making a decisions. You ladies are much wiser then me an Im only starting my journey yet it already feels like forever :(
Has anyone's partner seen a urologist? was it helpful at all?

Hey all you lovely ladies,
I'm back - I've been having a BB break after my first IVF cycle ended in a BFN. But we have now got plans for putting our one and only frostie (a 5 dayer) back in December... : ) I'm doing a hormonal FET - I have to take tablets and injections to control my cycle and then crinone afterwards till 9 weeks (AND that stuff is expensive - $200 for 15 days! I said to my DH that we should after our families to give us crinone for Xmas!).
21 - I'd got straight to the FS if I were you... sorry I can't help much re the cost.
Big hugs to you all out there!
Ruth

Welcome back Ruth, all the best for your FET:pray:
21TTC#1 - I can't remember what the specifics of DH's sperm count was, but I remember when we were going through all of the testing and my GP had a bit of a discussion about seeing a urologist, that surgery may be able to help him, or we could jsut go straight to the IVF/ICSI path - do you know what ICSI is??? When there are sperm issues, they can use this method to deliberately inject a sperm into the egg (intra-cytoplasmic injection).
Personally, i would go straight to the FS, and he/she would know best.

Morning everyone
This isnt a happy post - Im sorry ..
I havent been on for a couple of days, have been away, and moved over to the TWW - which ended for me this morning - an almost black and clotty AF showed up this morning, so I didnt even get the chance to have my BT  -
I will see FS this week - have the BT as a formality, as we didnt get any frosties from 11 eggs - and the christmas closure - FS doesnt want to do another STIM cycle straight after the last one - we will be trying naturally till Jan next year -
Im going to think positive - I might even try a non stim cycle, as we have hit the safety net - hmmm I will speak to FS and see what she has to say .. Im thinking of starting accupuncture and chinese herbs as well, Im all over the place - trying to think of where we can go next ..
Sorry for no personals - I will read up and see where everyone is at, and post a more positive post soon x

Hi girls
Haven't been in all week so too much to catch up on for personals!
Had a real mixed week. had my first appt with my haematologist - paid $205 for 25 mins (and he was 50 min late) but he was actually really good. Given that I've already done lots of 'high risk' things (without realizing) he says the FVL should'nt be too much of a problem. I have to take Clexane during my FSH injections but apart from that he said he'd see me again when I'm "25 weeks pregnant" - that made me laugh because at this stage I can't even picture myself getting blasties let alone pg (I know, I should be more positive!).
Then saw our FS later that day, all set for the first IVF in Jan - I was like "What is the earliest day we can start in 2009?" - ha ha ha. Talk about keen!
Downside is that the clinic has increased their prices for everything by 10% - damn it!
Also had another pg announcement this week - one of DH's friend's wife, she smoked all through her first pg and has said this one wasn't planned. She's also a complete lazy slob who doesn't cook or clean, and takes drugs. Hmm gotta love how the universe decides who to give a baby too sometimes, don't you?
After all that I've had a nice relaxing weekend at least :) And we're only about 8 weeks away from IVF!

Hi everyone!
thanks again for all the responses, DP and I have decided to ask for a Fertility clinic referal as they do everything there as you guys already know! saves me seeing a gyno and him seeing a urologist, plus i am so so anxious!!! Im really worried about the cost of it all as we have a big car loan at the moment and the usual bills I also have a big university HECS debt and I cant imagine paying thousands of dollars upfront for ivf, I will find a way though. Im also nervous about it all, im starting to think is it really a higher success rate than trying naturally? Also I dont know whether to go for the cheap hospital clinic in Sydney or for the more expensive monash ivf here on the Gold coast! Ahhhhh im so confused and feel like a burden on you all for asking questions! I also cant find anyone else my age having to go through all this, not that age really matters but it would be cool. I also feel bad about not doing any personals for a while.
MRS P- Hi we havent met, Im lydia!
JBM- Hey there long time no talk! yeah he hasnt had one of those thankgod! his fluid volume is low so not much ejaculate and too many monster sperm so most likely will have to ICSI! does it hurt them? Also i see you have 3 boys already where they fathered by your husband? if so were they naturally concieved even though he has sperm problems too?
wouldloveabubba- Im so sorry for you, I HATE getting my period! i feel for you.
Neptune- yeah I researched it and it looks pretty successful, he only is 4 percent over the limit so he still has 11 percent normal sperm but its obviously not doing the trick so we will try iui then ivf.
