Calin- I am sorry you have to travel so far, I know the feeling it takes me close to two hours to get into the city when it is peak hour. Because all my app have been in the morning it has been peak hour every time!

Juniper- I am sorry that this one didn?t stick, I completely understand what you are going through. I had the same situation where I had a positive test at 4 weeks HCG 136 then the following Friday it was 45. They told me it was an inevitable miscarriage. I miscarried a couple of days later. I hope that you are able to get things sorted out and another cycle is started soon. Take care of yourself.:comfort:

Nix- Regarding transferring 2 embryos my FS said that if you don?t have many embryos they like to transfer two but if you have a good number than they will transfer one at a time. We are seriously considering transferring 2 no matter what the result.

Emerald- Good luck with the transfer I am sorry that the results weren?t what you hoped. But you got two! And they are both A grade. :dance:

Loops- Sorry you have had a bad week, hope the sunshine today helped you feel better.

Nix- You must be over the scans by now hope you get some good results on Friday.

Meltcc- Not long now and the injections will start.

Airline- That?s interesting about the new follicles growing, I had never heard that before. I hope that means I have a few more growing, we can only live in hope.

AFM- Acupuncture session today, it was the first time the needles in my stomach hurt, as my acupuncturist said it is a bit hard to avoid the war wounds. I do both lucrin and Gonal F injections in my stomach, I am thinking of switching the lucrin to my thighs. Has anyone else done this?

Just popping in to give Juniper some big hugs.:comfort: I know that there is nothing that I can say to make it better, but just wanted to let you know that we are here for you if you need to vent. Look after yourself and I hope you are feeling a little better soon.

A quickie before bed. A WARNING if you will! Took our good old mate who's in his 70s and lost his wife quite a few years ago, to see the film UP. His choice and it was good.

HOWEVER...who would've thought that a childrens animated film (although it's good for adults too!), would have the whole 'not having children' as part of the storyline. A small bit but part of it none the less!! I won't give it away, but there's a synopsis of the old man's life, and it shows them getting excited and painting a nursery and then her being consoled by a doc and her husband in a clinic room with a diagram of a pregnant woman in the background, so you get the idea.

Sooooo of course, inspite of it being an animated childrens film...I shed a few tears!!!:redface::redface::redface: Every film, tv show and flippin' book I watch/read has the children storyline. I've just finished a book that said Nothing about infertility on the back .... but there it was. Anyway, just to warn anyone who's not prepared. Wish my girlfriend who saw it the other week had told me.

juniper - :hug: so sorry to hear your news. I don't pretend to know how it feels, but I hope you're taking care of yourself. Good luck with the further testing, I hope they find the answer for you and can use the info for your next cycle.

Nix - I was a little surprised too when FS suggested transferring two. He was dead against it the first time round, but he said if we have three or less embies then we'd transfer up to 2, so we'll see what happens. I'm secretly very excited and feeling a bit bad that i'm hoping we might only have 3 :shhh:

Loops - sorry to hear you got sick during your week in Melbourne and are feeling crappy. Hope you're resting up and staying put on the couch.

Emerald Star - :goodluck: tomorrow. Will be thinking of you and praying it goes well. I'm not really up with the differences between advantages/disadvantages of transferring cells at different stages, but I know that MIVF mostly does day 2 transfers (maybe always???) and have success so you never know what could happen.

Tracy - hope tomorrow goes well and FS says you can start straight away! And thanks to Emerald Star for answering your question for me! I'm still learning about all the other protocols as I only know about mine (antagonist cycle) so apologise if I expect everyone to know what I'm talking about!

Motherhood here i come - I know exactly what you mean! When I was waiting for AF to arrive I thought I would burst, I just wanted things to happen. I don't know if this is useful or silly, but I know when I was trying to lose weight (well, still doing it really) I made a list of all the things I like to do, like taking a bath, reading a book, talking to a friend, planning a trip, planning my dream kitchen renovation etc...! Maybe if you had such a list time would go a bit quicker for you?!

sonyalouise - I was sitting right in front of you with my husband on the more uncomfortable chairs! I was wearing a white shirt and grey pants, and between my husband and I we seemed to have a million bags around us!! If I see you there again i'll say :hello: I don't know when my EPU will be yet, i'll find out on Thursday. And no headaches this time round on the Orgalutran (touch wood)...!

airline - :crossfingers: 3 is the lucky number for you. Glad you're that little bit closer! And I SO know what you mean about unexpected storylines in books/movies/tv shows etc. I read a couple of books last week none of which seems remotely like they would be anything to do with babies/conception/IVF etc. Then THREE of them had such elements and I found myself getting more and more upset. There should be a law against such things!!

Sonyalouise - I can't remember my 1st scan results (sorry), but I hope those follies keep growing nice and strong and 8 is a good number to have :D.

melttc - Good Luck with the Puregon... my last cycle dose was a 150 which is not that much more than 100. Like all the girls have said, your FS is probably just being cautious and can easily increase if need be.

juniper - I am so sorry to hear your news and big hugs to you :hug:. At least you know that your body is trying and you are getting closer to your BFP. I know it doesn't make it any easier though....

Loops - Glad to hear that you had a good break but sorry about having the flu! It's horrible isn't it? Make sure you get plenty of rest and drink lots of water. How did you go with the cattle?

AFM - Finished the pill yesterday and have a baseline scan and BT booked in for Tuesday, 6 so slowly getting there, yay!

Just a quick selfish non exciting post about me...

Still have not caught the surge. Feels like and the pee tests certainly indicate - nothing happening. But thats Ok - I am usually about a 31 - 34 day cycle and it is day 20 now and they say after a stim cycle that your cycle can be longer. I just hope I haven't missed it at all.

Am taking chinese herbs too now - the real deal raw stuff that I have to boil and drink the 'tea'. Its pretty ordinary but hopefully doing the trick. Apparently it will halp get my system in order and make it nice and strong for "when we put baby back" as TCM Dr says! I don't like to refer to it as 'baby' tho for obvious reasons. Prefer to still think of it as 'emby' - little less personal and easier to deal with.

Hope you are all doing well and for those in Melb - hope you enjoyed that sunshine yesterday and this morning - I think we are in for more rain.

Thanks ladies for your well wishes with my flu, im slowly getting better but I have been working so its still hanging around a bit. DH has been a bit better of the last day or so. Im heading off again on Thursday after work - this time to the Deniliquin Ute Muster so Im just going to have to be as healthy as I can and stay very rugged up. Hoping I have got rid of it by tomorrow.

Coral - we did ok with the cattle. Only took two Bulls, and the Senior Bull won Grand Champion of his breed then went into the Interbreed (against all the other breeds) and was in the top ten with an honourable mention - so pretty good, i guess.

Well today i had 2x 2 day embies put back...One was an A grade 6 cell and the other a B grade 4 cell... feeling slightly more optimistic...but still apprehensive. I suppose we'll know in 10 days when I POAS...( did i just hear a "NO don't POAS Emerald"!!!) well i am, i am really noooooooo goood at waiting although i did with my first one...but now just running out of patience.:stickyvibesgirl: :stickyvibesboy:

just me again sorry....the other 3 didn't make it NO cell division today....so again no FREEZE EMBIES this cycle...lets hope the two in there stick or at least the one..:pray:

Hi Ladies can you beleive another week is almost over!!!

This means the end of my holidays.:( Work is just going to love me when I tell them that I need to take time off next week for EPU and ET, a pity the nature of my work doesn't allow me to choose when I take hols. It would be much easier to disguise what is going on.

Nix76- I have taken those raw herbs before and yes they are probably the most foul stuff that I have drunk. It was such a pain to boil them, do you need to keep them and boil them again in the evening. I was taking them twice a day. Although the herbs that I have had from my new TCM are dried, they come pretty close to that horrid taste. I hope you catch that surge soon.

Juniper- Hang in there, it will be over soon and then it will be easier to focus on the next step.

Coral- It is a great feeling when you stop the pill, I know it?s slow going, each day brings you closer to your goal.

No surge yet, still nothing showing up on pee tests. But little bit of discharge today finally (sorry TMI) so maybe that means its not far away?

I don't tend to notice things either - I am soooo non-observant. But I think cos TCM Dr asked me if there was any discharge it rung a bell when I noticed a tiny bit this morning. Plus I think that is a sign of Ov so again fingers crossed and hopefully I catch the surge!

Nix- I was on those herbs about a year and half ago before I realised I was going to have to go down the ivf path. I was doing it to increase my chances, but it affected my digestion quite badly and they were very expensive. I am not on any herbs at the moment, but will be after ET.Sounds like the surge could come anytime. Do you take your temperature.

Can I ask what people have done when it comes to work regarding the egg pick up and embryo transfer. I was thinking of asking for three days, the EP day, the day after and the day of ET. I wasn't sure if that was appropriate or not.

airline - you're a wonder woman working throughout the night! This would be me :asleep: I hope the transition back to dayshift isn't too stressful for you!

sonyalouise - meant to say that I took three days off last time, and that's what i'll be doing this time also. I haven't had an ET yet, but I know some of the girls have mentioned taking several days off after that to be as horizontal as possible...!!!

lise - I'll let you into a secret..I have a nanna nap! but still tired today!

sonya- I've been very lucky with my first 2 cycles. had no side effects from drugs, no issues at EP or ET (other than it's the part of the cycle that I find most difficult cos IT HURTS me!!) I ensured I wasn't working the night I had the EPU or the ET and didn't think much about the following days. However.... I've decided to do things differently this time - 3rd time, and I'm having a day off after EPU and a couple of days off after ET. I'm also going away with DH in the 2ww for 3 nights. I've found that during or after the 2ww, going away and being away from daily routine/chores helps us both.

DH didn't want me to do ANYTHING last time and I kept saying 'i'm not sick..I feel like a fraud lying around' But this time..I'm taking it well easy!!!!! I'm doing as little as possible, and I'm going to rest as and when my body tells me I need to. I felt the whole progesterone related tiredness back on BT day...and it was wierd, wonderful but sadly short lived. Do what you feel is right for you and DH:)

AFM - well the last few days since finishing the pill, AF arrived but hasn't fully unpacked her bags yet. Certainly hasn't got the old numchucks out yet..can't wait for that bit! Feeling ok, very, very emotional. Can't watch/listen to the news re. things like the tsunami without tearing up. Got in laws come to stay, so nice distraction...another week will pass quickly enough. Does anyone feel like they've been wishing the weeks/months of their life away when they started this whole thing??

As I said above, I'm doing things really differently this third time and because I'm gonna sooooo be chilling out after the ET, I'm doing loads of stuff now and really enjoying it. Cleaning up outside after the dust storms, painting inside the house, gardening, etc etc. Just under 3 weeks till EPU Yeh!!

I sure do wish my life away way too fast with the whole IVF waiting game. Im currently doing back to back cycles and am so impatient. Who knows how I would be if I actually had to wait longer in between doing cycles.

AFM - Am getting excited now (here goes the wishing my life away part lol) only 5 days till i start my Lucrin Injections again!!!! YAY!. Who'd of thought I would ever be excited to give myself daily injections hey.

airline - Those are crazy hours and glad to hear that your heading back to days and going to be a 'lady of leisure' this time round for EPU and after ET. I am also feeling really emotional at the moment and have cried twice in the last 24hours! Defiantly trying to wish the time away which is such a bad habit... so trying to stop myself from doing it though although can't say with much success!

lise - Congratulations on the 7 follies - yay! Glad to hear that they are all good sizes :dance:. Good Luck with the EPU on Monday if I don't make it back onto BB again before then.

sonyalouise - On my last cycle I only took a day off for EPU and then went back to work the next day. I was very sore and sorry for myself and would never do that again so I am taking EPU and the next day this time round. My fresh ET's are always done on a Saturday so am lucky and will have Sunday off anyway.

Motherhood here I come - It's funny isn't it..? I feel the same way and can't believe that I look forward to the injections as well, he, he! I hope the next 5 days goes quickly for you and at least there is a weekend thrown in there as well!

AFM - Still waiting for AF to arrive (stopped the pill last Tuesday) and I can feel she is thinking about it but not quite ready yet.. I hope she arrives (and finishes) before my scan on Tuesday otherwise it might be a bit awkward or cancelled altogether?? Feeling very emotional like airline at the moment... partly to do with no AF yet and the Lucrin I think. DH is being great and very supporting and I am so lucky to have him :inlove:. We're playing tennis tonight which I am really looking forward to :D.

Hi ladies,

While fresh in my mind - AFM - had another scan this morning, got my follicle growing nicely sitting at 17mm now. Lining was not checked as apparently on Monday it was 10mm and so she was happy with it then?
The only thing is we scanned over to the other side and there was another growing follicle. On previous scans we saw other follicles that were left over from last time, and I learnt today that we can tell the difference because they will not grow like the new one on the other side has. But this other growing folicle was 16mm and she said that whilst it is not impossible it is not common for 2 to grow. Has anyone else ever had this - remember I am el natural this month - no drugs.
So anyhow - she was pretty happy that there had been progress, keep pee testing over weekend and we would perhaps expect a positive result. If stil negative by Monday then BT that day to see what is going on. So all going well ET mid next week - sonya / lise - might see you there for our triple date with flowers in our hair! LOL!

I also told the nurse I was doing the herbs and acupuncture and she said that basically there is no harm in it and if I feel it is good then it is good for me, even if not for the whole baby thing, at least for my psychi and general well being.
She also said that if I am good enough to endure those yuk herbs then I deserve a reward!

Sonya - in regards to work and time off - I think it depends on your job, your workload, your boss and most importantly how you are feeling. My first cycle was EPU Wednesday (8am), ET Friday (2.30pm). I took Wed/Thurs off, came back to work Fri and went home after ET. So I had 2 days off after anyhow.

I think if you feel you need the time, take the time. But if you are like me - where my next week has some critical reporting days, I will work around that, while at the same time take what time I need off.
My boss knows and was really cool about it when I told him a couple of months ago - when i said I felt funny about telling him he said it was probably better as I will be needing days off here and there. So he already put it out there about that need. However he is away all of Oct and my fill in boss also knows as he and his wife are going thru all this too and we chat abotu it now and then (think she would be due for ET soon aswell). So he completely understands and will be supportive with what my needs will be next week. It would be really hard if you are in a high stress job with no backup and a stingy boss. I hope that is not the case for any of you.

Re the herbs - I agree they are expensive (& not claimable thru Medibank) this 5 days worth cost me $70. Not sure what tactic I will take when I meet with her again this evening as this lot runs out tomorrow.

Lise & Sonya - I'm sure I will post before next week but in case not - GL for your EPU's and ET's - lots of :stickyvibesgirl::stickyvibesboy: your way. I will certainly touch base if I am coming in on Mon/Tues/Wed.

Airline - you made me laugh about the whole "AF arrived but hasn't fully unpacked her bags yet. Certainly hasn't got the old numchucks out yet..can't wait for that bit!" that is so funny! I'm def taking some of your advice about taking it easy this time around. I am fully on the bandwagon of putting everything possible into making this work this time. I'm drinking lots of water, eating fruit each day, doing these damn herbs so I hope it all helps. Reading your note about taking it easy has really reinforced that to me too! Thnx! :p

And in regards to wishing your life away - OMG YES! It is so terrible and I try not to do it, but it is just measured by week to week, appoint to appoint, test to test, scan to scan and I'm always killing for the next 'big thing'. I'm not sure how to stop that, I guess trying to be more at ease about it all and laid back and keeping busy helps. But sometimes keeping busy and seeign other people is SOOO NOT what you feel like right! its a bit of a catch 22 and one BIG roller coaster!

Motherhood - GL with those injections. When you have all your children growing up around you - you can look back and laugh at how you were looking forward to injections!!!

Thanks Nix... trying to focus on the fact that it's Friday and can rest and relax for the weekend - yay :D. Just had a moment last night and got scared about having to possibly face yet another 'disappointment' with this cycle. I know it is all part and parcel of IVF and that we still have along way to go until ET... but as you know, we just go through so much in this process. This truly is a trying time in our lives and surely there must be a lesson in it somewhere (at least I like to think so anyway!)?

airline ? Glad to hear AF arrived. Hope the old bird doesn?t give you too much grief. I too feel like I?m wishing my life away. It is all so consuming and I hate the not knowing if this is ever going to work. I believe that you can cope with anything in life, good or bad, as long as you know what you?re dealing with but this whole process takes you into he great unknown. Enjoy your visitors. A good spring clean makes you feel good (and it?s something you have complete control over) You will have a doubly well-deserved rest after EPU & ET at the end of the month

sonyalouise ? I took it (really) easy on my last FET. Although I have heard an embie after ET described as like a seed in a jam sandwich that can?t actually go anywhere?? I think I did a little too much after my fresh ET and took it easier on the FET and felt that I had given it it?s best shot then. I suppose when it comes down to it, it?s whatever you are comfortable with

AFM ? Well AF started yesterday. I called the Nurse who said that they can?t fit me in this round and that I have to go on the pill for a month and call back NEXT CD1. Stupid me! They had suggested at FET that I could book in for another Stim cycle that day but I didn?t want to jinx it.. and now I have to wait another whole month ? doing absolutely nothing about it!!! I am bit annoyed with myself but am hoping that it is an omen and that?s just how it is meant to be. So next cycle won?t start until the first week of Nov and I am estimating that EPU, if all goes well will be early/mid Dec. (Which will make for an interesting 2WW in the lead up to Christmas!)

Tantee - I can't beleive they can't fit you in - what cycle are you trying to do. I think I would just die if they told me that and I had already worked out what I wanted to do. However - things happen for a reason so look at it as a good rest for your body and a chance to get it into optimal shape. Hmm - I would still be upset tho :-(

Thanks Nix - I am trying not to think about it too much, but yes I am really disappointed as I had set myself up mentally to go again on a full fresh stim cycle. Will try to use the time wisely though and get a grip on things again. DH is going to try and make some lifestyle changes too, so that could be a good thing.

I noticed a sign up at the clinic in regard to the uni doing studies on accupuncture for IVF that had been endorsed by another FS at the clinic, so may look further into that. Might also call to ask them to put me on a wait list if anyone happens to cancel in the next couple of weeks or so as I didn't start the synarel until CD18 last time. (Not sure of the regularity of anyone ever cancelling a cycle by choice/circumstance) but I suppose it's worth putting my name down.

FS nurse apologised and emphasised that I was pre-booked for Nov.

Hmm- I would def be putting your name on a wait list. That is a shame they have had to put you off. Make sure they work out the dates of when you start and when an estimated EPU and ET would be, as they may close over Xmas?? I know MIVF does.

In relation to the uni & acupuncture - there was a thread saying something about that but it was only in Sydney (good for you). But I can't seem to find it now. The only thing I can see is about half way down the page on the link provided below on the third box with the thead name "Trying to get pregnant & want to try acupuncture for free? " - but I can't get into it?

sonyalouise - I found that after the EPU, I feel abit sore and groggy so glad to have taken the day off. For ET i usually take just the day off, although if you have a sit down / low stress job, you can go back to work as the procedure is relatively quick and easy. They weren't painful for me, but I have read other ladies have found it uncomfortable...just do what you would be most comfortable with no regrets later...

Motherhood here i come - I hope this cycle brings you lots and lots of eggs..GL hon!

Coral73 - I also hope that AF hurries up, doesn't she realise we are on a schedule and she is putting us off!!!!!! :D Enjoy your tennis match as you don't know when you will be able to play agin hopefully in 9 months!!

Tantee - Sorry to hear you missed an extra cycle and have to wait the month...bothing worse...but you never know it may happen naturally in between cycles...that would be fab!! I usually book my next cycle when i get my last BT and U/S before EPU..not that i don't have faith, but i wanna make sure i've got all bases covered...

just a panick post. DH at work tonight,so i was entertaining DH's dad and totally forgot to sniff my synarel till 3 hours after i'm supposed to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:o:o:o

has anyone done this?? did their fs advise if it'd cause a problem. I've still not had AF fully unpack her cases...just hand out a few gifts, and gonal f injections don't start for days. I guess my BT on day one of AF will advise if I'm down regulated properly, but I'm a bit jittery about it. I feel ridiculous cos this is soooooooooooooooo important to me, how could I forget!

Paid my $8900 bill today for a stim. cycle to blasty with ICSI. ANZ reward points on the rise again!:rolleyes:

Nix, Coral, Airline, Tantee, Emerald and Lise- Thanks for the advice about time off work. I have decided to take the day off after the epu just in case. I am a primary teacher and dealing with kids all day can be difficult when you are not 100%. EPU will be Thurs or Frid and I won?t have to worry about the ET as it is on Sat or Sun.

My boss is very understanding and is happy to give me time off work when I need it. It is me who worries about how it will impact my class. It is very disruptive to take anytime off during the day then return to work later. Everyone notices when you not there even for an hour, so sometimes fielding the questions can be difficult. At least I won't have to explain why I am taking the first three days off when school holidays have just finished.

Motherhood- I agree totally with the wishing your life away comment. I thought once the FSH injections started it would go very quickly but it hasn?t. Sometimes I wish we could fast forward the tough parts. Although, I guess it is the tough times that make the good times so good!

Nix- I am not sure how the FET works. Are you having a frozen one transferred? What happens to the follicles that you have growing? Are they monitoring the follicles to help work out when you are going to ovulate?

It is rare, but when a person has natural fraternal twins it is when they have had two follicles grow and two eggs are released.

Tantee- Shame about not starting your cycle yet. Make sure you enjoy the break. Interesting how you need to book it that early, I will ask my FS about booking in another one if this ET doesn?t work. I don?t think they would be able to fit in another before the end of the year though. I know what you mean about jinxing it. I don?t really want to think about what we are going to do if this one doesn?t work.

Airline- I am sorry I don?t know if I can really help you but I would say that if AF has only just started then you are in the part of the cycle when all hormones at an all time low anyway, so it is not likely that you will begin the growth and ovulation process yet. Do you have a nurse that you can call on the weekend?

AFM- Not the best news I am afraid. Went in for my scan yesterday and was told if we had egg pick up on Monday or Tuesday then the most we could hope for are three eggs:cry: So my dosage was increased to 450 in the hope some of the other follies will catch up:crossfingers: Egg pick up is now scheduled for Thursday or Friday and ET is scheduled for Sat or Sun. They will let me know Tuesday which one it is. So no flowers in the hair for me.

I have 4 follies that are between 15mm-19mm and 5 that are between 10mm-13mm. I was a bit flat yesterday, I was hoping it would be finished by Thursday next week, and now I am not very confident that I will even get any embryos. I have seen too many statistics about number of eggs fertilised and number of eggs that make it transfer stage. I don?t like my chances really. I have lowered my expectations considerably and am just hoping that there will be a transfer. When I started the FS was expecting that we would also get 4-5 to freeze.
