Shez, that wait must be so awful. Spill all you like, most times you need to tell/write it to get your head around it also. We are here to listen. So your doctor thinks there's another one in there?
Anney, good luck on your journey, hope your eggies are ok. And good that you are comfortable with your doctor, it is needed.
Cazz, it must be sooooo frustrating. I do think sometimes the nurses think you know more than you actually do. Sometimes I had to remind them that I didn't know. Then they are fine, take a step back & start again. Good luck.
Sheree, hope AF comes when she's supposed to for you so you can get on the ride again. Wishing you all the luck in the world for this one.
I have used progesterone pessaries for a couple of cycles, 3 a day. AF came about a day after stopping.
And sticky vibes/best wishes for everyone else, hopefully the wait isn't too long.
-
I've been MIA due to a virus woohoo (not) - went to emergency yesterday morning and probably won't work this week. AF is due today. I sure hope it's a bit late becuase I don't want to be stimming while being sick. Although the doctor said that all I can take is panadol for the pain...
Good luck everyone.
Congrats to the BFP- I'm jealous!
My empathy to the BFNs.
Sorry for no personals - gotta go back to bed.
-
Tam I think he is just hedging his bets he says there is a chance that the "sac" is just fluid or mucous from and EP??
I give up!!
Sheree I hope u feel better soon
Love Shez xoxo
-
Keen, sorry I missed your post about transfer, congrats & hope the TWW speeds by, to get that nice little pressie at the end, a BFP.
Sushee, not long to go for u now, this is your mth too I'm sure of it.
Shazz, wow, your clinic should be more respectful of you, it is your body, your tests, your TTC, so they should give as much info as u want. My clinic luckily were good with the info, very forthcoming.
Sheree, you poor thing, get well soon.
Shez, I don't envy u at all, that must be hard.
Well posted my details in the Pg after LT TTC & in the announcements!! :-)
-
Congratulations Shel on your BFP!! Hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
-
Congratulations Shell - about time =D> wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy
:cheer:
how many do you think you have on board ?
we might be going for a record number of lt ttc twins (triplets) by the looks of it

Whoa - I've got a bit to catch up on. Here goes...
Bec – Can’t believe they charge you for changing clinics!! Did they tell you why? Were you transferring frozen embies as well? Still, a bit harsh. Don’t they charge us enough as it is? grrr. Hope you’re doing ok with whichever clinic and that you get a BFP so you don’t have to worry about changing!!
Ali – I have been tossing up whether to publicly “out†my Dr. Before I do, I must say that my experiences might just be a clash of personalities or something along those lines; others may find him perfectly fine. I’m with Dr McBain. I had Dr Fox for my last EPU and I felt so comfortable with him (and loved his cute bow ties). DH and Dr McBain get along well as they both follow the same footy team, but he also noticed the difference with Dr Fox.
Mel – thanks for your good wishes. Was thinking that it may be good for a break and have a FET in Sept but SIL and niece came over yesterday and I got soooooooo clucky - I just want to get started again!! Will now asking if I can do FET straight away – if I haven’t left it too late. Will wait and see what Dr says tomorrow I guess.
Caz – hope DH gives you the support you need. Hope it works out well for you
Ness – sorry to hear that you have to go back to the needles/sniffing. Have my fingers crossed for you. When do you start?
Sush and Keen – hope you’re hanging in there and that your embies are burrowing away. :luck: :crossfingers:
Bee – so sorry to hear that AF showed her ugly head.
Shaz – I really feel for you in your dealings with the nurses. How far away is your clinic? I’d probably jump in the car with the drugs and march in there and demand some answers (don’t be fooled, I’m not a ball breaker – but stuff like that gets me really mad). Can you ring again and ask to speak to your Dr? Failing that, ring the nurses again and simply say – look, this is still not clear to me and ask them to explain it to you? Don't let them make you feel silly, you are the patient/customer and have a right to ask questions. I know its easy for me to say - I hope you get the answers you're after.
Anney – sounds like your appt went well. Hope you’re able to join the rollercoaster ride soon!
Shez – hope you’re able to get some rest and relaxation in your 2 weeks off. Your boss sounds very supportive.
Sheree – hope that nasty flu goes away quick smart and you’re feeling better soon.
Phew – hope I didn’t miss anyone. Hope you’re all doing well.
Blue

Congrats Shell, best of luck for the pg.
Good start to the month, let's clear out this place. My memory isn't good with this many people, lol!!!!
-
Tam - when are back on for next cycle on this crazy rollercoaster
Blue - what cycle day are you - as long as they catch ovulation - keep pushing them to squeeze you in
How is everyone else today ?
-
Trish, I have a couple of weeks until AF is due & then it's HRT FET.
Feel like forever at the moment with all the action in here.
Am enjoying doing nothing though. Actually feel like I'm living 'my life'
Take care
-
Sheree - Hope you are feeling better soon sweetie. Rest up and take it easy.
Shez - You poor thing! Must be a very frustrating and upsetting time for you. Good idea taking some time off for yourself :hugs:
Ness - Sorry to hear the evil one has showed again. :hugs:
Trish - your transfer date is the same as my BT date. Lets [-o< we both have good results.
Leisa - I have added your details to the front page summary.
Anney - Here's hoping you find yourself someone wonderful very soon. It sounds as though your doctor is very nice and I really think that is so important in all this.
Blue - Fingers crossed for you getting the chance at a FET straight away.
Well guys I phoned the doc about the progesterone and he said he will look at it but cant see why I would have to be on it for longer. I told him if it doesnt hurt for me to be on it and it will put my mind at ease then can I just do it anyway. He advised me that no-one in our area stocks it (but I could get it elsewhere if that was a problem). Said he would look at my levels and speak to the nurses about it later today.
It just seems so strange that it is only for 7 days post transfer when everyone else I have spoken to has it for at least up until BT....??
Wish there would be some basic guidelines that all IVF places followed so you could know what you should and shouldnt be doing.
Otherwise though am feeling pretty good. A bit bored with all this sitting around stuff... but otherwise good... just tapping fingers.... waiting.
-
Keen, for my fresh IVF cycle with SIVF I didn't have progesterone support at all. It does seem odd to have support for only a week of your luteal phase, did the doc explain how one week's support is helpful and is all is required?
-
No explanation given really Sal. Was your fresh cycle the successful one?
-
Nope, fresh didn't work (although the doc thought the blast was wonderful looking) and FET didn't work for me (the blasts didn't thaw very well, they were put back anyway but I had no hopes for that cycle). I managed to fall pg on my IVF 'break' after hassling my doc to put me on Metformin! PCOS is a very weird and frustrating condition to have...
Have you had CD2/3 BTs done for FSH/LH levels? Your amazing response to stimming is the sort of thing seen in a PCOS woman (I remember you saying you don't have the cyst appearance on your ovaries but some PCOS women don't).
-
Thanks everyone for your thoughts
](*,)
i rang the clinic yet again and got the nurse that seems to have a bit of an issue with me (long story - but last Ivf attempt i yelled screamed and cried at her when she told me they didn't feeze my 2 remaining embies when the dr told me they were to be frozen ) so any way told her that out of the first vial i got 850iu instead of the 1200 iu she was like ' really that shouldn't be are you sure your doing it right ? to which i replied well that i am not sure of seen as i would still class my self as a bit of a novice when it comes to IVF and mixing and injecting drugs with out formal training she then says that she feels confident that i was trained enough to inject myself (over 12 months ago they showed me how to stick a needle in a bit of foam !!! ](*,) ) I then told her how worried we were that i will run out of drugs 4 days before i should at this point and and said that if anything i will just end up sicker then last time from overdosing myself she would not beleive me that i have been taking the syringe to the 200iu mark and not beyond i even have DH checking and rechecking before hand i then got a little antsy and ask to speak to the Dr and she then said that if by the scan s if it looks like i will need more injectibles then what i have they will give me more i finally felt i accomplished something and will just have to plod along Dh is coming to all the appointments with me this time and i am so thankfull he is he can do the fighting for our rights for me ( i'm knackered)
sorry for the epic post i feel better now :-({|=
-
Good on ya Shazz!!!!!! =D>
-
I find it is so ridiculous the way we are treated at the IVF clinics the minute you question something or wonder about something. My God its our bodies and we have fought long and hard to get to this stage, so whats with all the cr@p!
Anyway, I am trying to phone my clinic now except cant get through because is engaged - as is the case every single day after 2pm.
Shazz - you stand your ground honey. They should listen to you
Sal - I have not had any CD2/3 BTs done for FSH/LH levels. Doctor never suggested anything like it?! Would explain a lot though.
-
Shell ~ congratulations :cheer:
Sheree ~ hope your feeling better soon and especially for EPU
Keen ~ its sounds like every state works differently with progesterone - in QLD your on it in the TWW and beyond (if BFP) - VIC seems to just have you on it in the TWW - it would be interesting if other NSW girls find that they are only on it for the amount of time they told you.
-
Keen ~ i was only on Crinone for the TTW and stopped the day of my BT which was a BFP there was no talk of me continuing on anything even with a BFP
Ness ~ interesting seen as we go to the same DR even this time i am given enough for the TTW but i will ask about that when i go in on friday
Shell ~ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ congrats heres to a H& H pg
-
The clinic and doctor have agreed to allow me to have progesterone support up to the BT! So one point for me!
But apparently of the 9 embies we had left only 2 were able to be frozen :( ... I dont really understand how or why. I mean if they are still growing then whats the problem? And a lot of other people have 2 day old embies frozen, mine are 5 day....? The clinic couldnt really say and in all honesty they made me feel so stupid and like I was being a real nuisance for asking for another weeks worth of progesterone, i just wanted to get off the phone.
So from all that, 1 embie on board, & 2 snowbubbas.
-
I will just clarify here Shazz - the Dr only started 2 cycles ago with the progesterone and only gave me enough in the TWW, its only when you get a BFP that they give you more. :flower:
-
I have to say that after any FETs, if I had to do a full stim cycle again I would most likely change clinics - who cares if I have to travel! It will be cheaper anyway and at least I will be treated with respect - I mean its not like we dont pay for it!
-
Keen ~ yeah for getting the progesterone support till BT - sorry only 2 made it to frozen - I had such high hopes that you would have an abundance of frozen bubs - hopefully it wont matter as you will get a BFP soon :D
-
Keen, bummer that only 2 made it to frosty status. My understanding of the process is that if you are taking all your embies to blast, then the attrition rate is much higher than going to 2/3 day, plus if they don't look strong enough the clinic won't freeze them. From 9 embies three sounds about average to get to blast and frozen.
But the clinic is surely giving you the run-around! I think you can ring and ask for a scientist to call you and explain what happened with your embies. The nurses at your clinic sound very unhelpful.
-
Sal - let me just say that unhelpful would be an understatement. The problem is it really only seems to be one of them who is - but she is the one I always get when I call or who calls here #-o
I suppose really I should be happy to have any left to freeze. So back to big smiles and rays of sunshine and all that! 8-[
-
Trish – I guess I’m up to day 8. I have PCOS and don’t seem to ovulate naturally so I might be a bit late to start on the Uncle Dougs?? Am hoping to start this cycle but if I have to wait, that’s ok.
Thanks Keen. And good on you for chasing down your progesterone. What is it with these nurses? I only wish IVF clinics had patient representatives like they do in most public hospitals in Vic. Am hoping that your snowbubs aren’t required for 9 months at least!! :)
Sal – what is metformin? I agree with your opinion on PCOS!!
Well done Shaz. Good idea to take DH with you – I found it works for me! I find it comforting for him just being there too.
I was given a box of 15 pessaries the day of transfer – I guess that was to take me until BT – plus one spare? (what, was I going to miss???) You would think these days with evidence based medicine etc that there would be more standardization of IVF protocols. I know we’re all different, and different treatments work for different people, but it appears as though each clinic (and even different drs within the one clinic) does things differently.
Cheers,
Blue

Blue, Metformin is a drug given to people with type II diabetes. It can be given to PCOS women (and get ovulation working in some cases) as about half of PCOS sufferers have insulin resistance, which is a precursor to type II diabetes. The problem is that not many docs are willing to prescribe it (I had to hassle my doc to prescribe it to me, he didn't think it would work as I'm not overweight and most of the studies have been on large women). Do you have PCOS? I ask because I read of a recent UK study that found taking Metformin increased IVF success for PCOS women.
-
Keen - all my six embies made it to blast, 1 was transferred but only 1 frozen?? Do you know I never asked why this was so. I wish I had asked more questions last time, this time I'm going in with lots more info so watch out clinic!!!
-
Hi all you lovely ladies,
My clinic explained that only Grade 1 and 2 blasts are frozen, and any embryo that hasn't made it to blast by day 5 or 6 aren't frozen either. My little 9 cell emby was not going to make it even by day 6, so they didn't bother to freeze it.
As for the nurse and the clinic making you feel stupid, I used to too when I first started IVF. Trust me, after 8 cycles, I'm now a grumpy old ***** with them if they talk down to me. I figure if I can intimidate my doctor into transferring two blasts for the first time in his career, the nurses are a piece of cake.
Having said that though, I've never really had many run ins with the staff at Concept. Generally a really nice, easy going clinic.
Shell, congratulations hunny! I checked out those peesticks in your www yesterday and knew you'd have good news for us today!

Theres no way I can keep up with the personals in this thread, I am far too slow reading! You're all such a wealth of information for me, I am quite new to all of this.
We've had some hassles with DH sperm analysis the last day or so. We had to book him in to give a sample and finally had the perfect time and date organised, then last night I have a message on my machine that its been cancelled but he can drop a sample from home off at 8am in Heidelberg! Thats 45 minutes from here, and it has to be there by an hour!!!!!! So poor DH this morning had everything ready, got his sample and jumped straight on his motorbike and is as I type, trying to get the poor sample there within the hour. So stressful, considering he only has a rough idea of where to actually go and how to get there!!
I just said, worst case scenario you dont make it, we'll just reschedule it for 3 days time in their city centre again. Might not have the results in time for our appt Monday, but cant be helped! Our appt Monda is also a hassle, we need a babysitter for my son, so Mums leaving her place at sparrows so we can get to our appt at 920, and Dh has appointments from noon he cannot be late for or miss, so I have to hope its all on time and we're not held up. So stressful and we haven't even got there yet!!!!
-
Oh Keen & Shazz, its just not good enuf the way ur clinics are treating u, yeah, stand up to em.
So Sushee & Keen, your both up next to graduate, but there's someone else too isn't there, is it u Ali?
-
Yep Shell, you're right Sush, then Ali then Me! Plus several others also joining us, Im sure!
-
Sorry, yeah, I meant nearing the end of their TWW, there are going to be plenty more... :-)
-
Good morning everyone.. Congrats Shell..maybe more twins???!!! :D Well thamks to everyone for their well wishes it is frustrating but I think (!?) AF has progressed to a stage were I can consider today CD1!!! So hopefully I'll get to join the August coaster...
To the ladies that are having trouble with the nurses at their clinics, as a nurse myself I am so disappointed. I get so annoyed at other nurses giving nursing a bad name, especially nurses working in an environment flooded with hormones like IVF!! I can't believe they are not more supportive and understanding! So I'm sorry for their treatment of you and I hope that next year when you are all delivering your babies you have wonderful caring supportive nurses watching out for you!!

Hi girls
I've been up all night & at the emergency room early this morning with DD as she has croup..... poor little thing, it's the absolute worst when they're sick.
I also did a HPT at about 5am this morning and got a BFN!!!! Just what I needed.... I feel as though the witch is on her broomstick & heading my way fast.............
Keen & Sush, hope your coping better in this dreadful TWW than I am xx
Ali xxxxxxxxxxxxx
-
Oh Ali, honey Im hoping desperately that you were just testing a bit too early....
Big hugs to your little DD too. Poor little darlins when they're ill arent they? Makes you feel so helpless.
-
Hello girls,
Ali, you're only 7dpt, which is really early. Please don't give up hope.
As for me, I will not be succumbing to the evil peestciks after all. DH and I made a deal that we'd wait until the Sunday bt, and will call the clinic together.
Have to admit, not holding out much hope. Except for bloatedness, I have absolutely no sx whatsoever, and you all know what my luck is like with these things.
So we'll just have to see come Sunday. Either way, I'll post and let you girls know for sure.
love

Keen, I'm a bit slow on the conversation about progesterone, but I have been on two types both for various cycles (IVF and natural). One cycle I was on Crinone once a day, another cycle I was on pessaries twice a day and another time I was on Crinone twice a day.
When I was on the Crinone as part of IVF, it cost me nothing (included in the global fee), but when I was on the Crinone (2x/day) as part of pg support (naturally conceived) then I had to pay for it myself. The price I paid was almost $200 for 7 days worth (14 syringes). And I was on them for about 10weeks - so expensive stuff. Our chemists here in town do not stock them, so I had to get them to order it from the distributor each week. The Crinone comes in a cold pack (small polystyrene esky with an ice brick). You take the esky with you, so I have HEAPS at home!! I was on this regime when I was pregnant with twins (the pregnancy before Thomas) and alas, it didn't work. It was interesting to note that the cost of the Crinone over that time made that pregnancy as expensive (if not more so) than some of the IVF cycles I had been on!
For my recent pg (Thomas), I was on progesterone pessaries twice a day. Problem with these were that again, no-one made them in our town, so I had to get them from another chemist who did make them (attacked to a hospital that made them). And unlike the Crinone, the pessaries cannot be shipped to your chemist. You have to make the trip to collect them yourself. Big pain int he bum! Especially as it was a 4.5hr round trip for me to pick up the pessaries. But I used to fill 2 -3 scripts at a time to make it worth my while. The issue with the pessaries are because they are made from wax and are more likely to melt in transit and I guess chemists don't want the responsibility. However, they only cost me about $40 for 14 (from memory!). Loads cheaper.
Shell, fantastic news on your BFP. I looked at your web picutres and thought that things looked VERY promising witht he lines on the sticks!
Shazz, what a stuff up with your Gonal-F doses. I was never made to feel like a dill from my clinic, but I can understand how some clinics can make you feel like that though.....
Hi to all.
Hayseed

Thanks girls, I really hope you're right, but I am not confident at all!!!
Is it really too early do you think? It said on the test that you could do it 5-7 days before AF is due. Are they just full of it??????
I have to admit, if I hadn't done the HPT I would prob be thinking that I am pg as my bb are very biiiiiig & sore, but I think that's just a side effect of the crinone too.
Sush, I wish I could be as calm as you, got any tips for me??
Love Ali xxxxxxxxxxx
