AFM - I was in TWW but AF visited on the 4th - early. Trying IUI again in March. Too many other things to think about at the moment such as bushfires which is keeping my mind off it all. Its all just so tragic here in Victoria.

Good luck Baby2bee! Make sure you ask them your actual levels when they give you the results. Knowledge is power. You want to know the beta hCG levels and the progesterone levels. You're looking for over 40 for prog and over 100 for beta hCG. Fingers crossed for you!

Loops, sorry to hear about AF. FYI, from what I've seen, IUI can take 4-6 goes to get across the line (much the same as natural conception). For me it took 5 goes. Very good luck with your next round, and stay safe in the disaster down there. The whole country is shocked by what's happened.

Damn! Another BFN!! I am actually feeling ok about it. I'm having a phone consult tomorrow to see if we can skip the 3rd IUI (its normally standard practice to do 3 rounds) and move straight onto IVF.....hopefully a better chance! thanks for all the well wishes....Bring on round 3 I say!!!

What!!?? No! That's a total bummer b2b. Did you get the levels by any chance? They really help you understand where things are at.

Also for the next round, ask what the progesterone levels are on Day 21. Does your clinic do day 21 bloods? It lets you know if you ovulated, gives you a rough idea of how many follicles produced an egg (one per about every 30 points), and also points towards the luteus corpum producing enough hormones to support implantation.

Of course everyone has got to make their own choice, but I do think IUI works in time. My friend took four rounds, as did a stable mate at the same clinic. For me it was 5. I think IVF people are always keen to push you onto the bigger treatment, and Diamond and I had long discussions about the commerciality of this medical advice in the previous version of this thread if you want to check back...

Hey girls sorry i havn't been around been a roller coaster week.... PLus i stopped getting notifications :rolleyes:

I got a BFP last Thursday and went straight for a BT cos the line was so light, got results Friday morning and they were bad only 6 so pretty much a negative, i was shattered and had to go home from work, got my period on SAturday it was almost normal just not as heavy.. I kept testing and the line got darker not lighter, so MOnday i rang the clinic and told them they were just going to let it go going by the BT results but i pushed it because i was due to start teh clomid today...

Soooooooo yesterday i get my results and it has gone up to 46 :shock: now things are up in the air until i have another BT tomorrow hoping it doubles + a bit more if it has gone up slowly then it looks like an ectopic pg :( ... Sooooo frustrating i can't be excited but i can't get on with things either.. I worked hard all weekend to get past the sadness as much as i could so i was all ready for the next IUI and this happens gahhhhhhhhhhhh.... Just 1 step at a time now and see what life brings me....

Wow Janeo - that does sound like a rollercoaster for you - :crossfingers: this is an honest-to-goodness BFP that was just slow to catch on, and not something nasty :)

ok so I had the phone consult yesteday with FS to see if I could start IVF (just finished 2nd round of IUI). He said tubes are all clear and the IUI round I just had, I had a magnificent surge of hormones, DH produced 12 million Grade A soldiers........so no he wouldn't move me to IVF. We are going for round 3 of IUI now.....using Purgeon instead of Gonal F. Let's see if that makes a difference. Fingers crossed for round 3 ding ding ding!

Sorry I've been offline for so long! Thankyou all for your good wishes, it's all very exciting. Janeo - that does sound like a rollercoaster! So another lot of bloods today? I definitely have my fingers crossed for you that it all works out - remember sometimes strange things happen in early pg, I had pretty intense cramping and kept waiting for AF/mc to arrive and freaking out a bit, but it hasn't so I remain positive! Let us know when you get some news!

B2B - that's good news for you too, I know it can be frustrating doing the same thing a few times around, but I'm sure you'll get your BFP before too long - especially with the news that your tubes are great and DH is certainly doing his job!

I just saw your post and wanted to send you big hugs. What a frustrating time for you. I went through something similar on my first IUI cycle, got a very low hcg reading and basically had to wait it out. It was a hard thing to go through, something I didnt expect, it wasnt a certain neg and it wasnt a certain pos. But in your case 46 is a high number at this early stage in the game, and I am hoping your b/t results show a big increase from there.

B2B! I couldn't be happier to hear your FS give you that advice! At last in IVF FS that recognises things need time to work.

It's also excellent to hear you and DH did so well in the stats department. Very good luck in the next round - remember, you tried more than twice naturally, so it makes sense that ANY treatment is also going to take more than a couple of goes too.

Keep up your vitamins, and give B6 a go if you haven't already.

Hey girls well the roller coaster has been in full force the past 48hrs.... I ended up heading to Ballarat Wednesday arvo to see Dr Dalton i started having pains at work so we thought best to head there, he did an u/s and couldn't see anything (you would expect that though so early and all) did see some fluid in behine my uterus he also redid BT which we had to then hang around Ballarat for the results which came back as 146 so sent me to emergency cos he was worried about ectopic.. I got put in hossy straight away had another BT and i found out today it came back at 113 (how weird within 2 hours the results were different) anyhoo they wanted to observe me and retest Friday morning.... Yesterday they came to see me and said that if it doubled then it could be a viable pg and not ectopic at all......

So i had a BT this morning and it has gone up to 265 so they discharged me saying that it could be a viable pg and it isn't ectopic YAY!!!! Although Dr Dalton had been in earlier and said it is unlikely it is viable as the levels are so low and not to get my hopes up, i told him trust me i learnt a long time ago not to get my hopes up!!!! I then went back to the clinic to follow up with them and the nurse informs me that there still is a chance that it could be ectopic GAAAAAAHHH........

So now im waiting ill have another BT on Monday morning and then again Wednesday.. I have to keep watching for ectopic pg signs which is doing my head in every twinge.. I had heaps of twinges with my last pg so im ignoring them at this stage but if i have intense pain ill head back to hossy........

So im in limbo again......

Janeo - I'm crossing everything for you that this is a real sticky bub and not an ectopic!!

Thinking of you hun....Hoping your little one is a fighter and it all works out.

God Janeo that is a rollercoaster!! Having also been spooked with a possible ectopic, I did loads of research about various hormone levels and you know what - they spooked me even further! Our clinic is actually next door to the early pregnancy clinic and i found their diagnostic, which screamed ectopic to me.

But the BTs kept showing the hCG going up, and progesterone stable. We did a scan at 7wks and voila - all okay. You just need your scan to show you the sac is in the right place and the heart is beating. I am sure that's what's going to happen.

Take it real easy on yourself - no strenuous exercise, or lifting heavy stuff. My fingers and toes are crossed for you. But it's BFP season, so I'm feeling very positive for you!

Hey girls... No bubs :( .. I had a scan late this arvo with my Dr and there is nothing in my uterus should be able to see at least a sack as im 6 weeks today by my period... We are retesting my bloods tomorrow morning hoping they have dropped if they have gone up then im booked in for a LAP tomorrow night :( !!!!!

Im doing ok about it all pretty upset earlier but just keeping busy now.. Ill work tomorrow then head to Ballarat if the bloods show up high again... Thanks for all your support ill be back in here for the next round of IUI...

Shades, WOW!! What was your progesterone??? That's a super high hCG - maybe because there's more than one jelly bean growing?? The prog levels would tell you!

UPDATE: okay - did a quick spot of research - there's a lot of white noise out there these days from discussion forums as opposed to proper scientific facts. I sure wish I had a copy of the endocrine poster at SEALs in RHW, which lists the ranges for both hCG and progesterone throughout the various stages of pregnancy. HOWEVER, at 16dpo, hCG readings for twins can be much the same as singletons. Progesterone levels would indicate the number of follicles that released an egg (about 30 per each), however, again, this would be misleading with a BFP because at least one follicle has a luteus corpum on it producing all those lovely hormones.

SO!! Shades, we'll all just have to wait until your 7 week scan to see how many jelly beans you've got growing there. :-)

And that was your fourth IUI, right? See folks! 4-6 goes to give this process a fair chance. :D

Sue - Pregnyl takes 5-7 days to leave your system. On 5000 it commonly made my cycles 4-5 days longer. Hopefully on 1500 it will be a bit less for you. But it will mess with BT results, hence people's discussion round here of "chemical pregnancies".

CONGRATULATIONS SHADES!!!! Feb has been a massive month for BFP's!!!! I agree OP re the IUI's. After talking to my FS and DH I think we'll give it 4 or 5 shots!

:dance: :happyforyou: :dance:That's my happy dance for you Shades! Just had to jump in with that. How fantastic - keep us in the loop! My HCG was 1068 17 DPO (prog 53) but I've heard of 50, so it's all good as long as it's a BFP!

I went and had a blood today and the nurse was having a quiet morning so offered to do a scan. SO... I saw a heartbeat! Very exciting. My little blob has a heartbeat. Not a high res scan but enough to be exciting. DH is a little jealous because he wasn't there, but is also relieved re the results.

Janeo, it's disappointing for your results, I was convinced there would be a BFP for you this time - but I hope too that you don't need an op and you can just keep on keeping on. :hug:

Well our beautiful little bubs grew wings on 18th Feb.... Bubs was too impatient to join us and implanted to early.. So i have lost my right tube :( and they also found a heap of endo which was a surprise because i have no signs of it at all very mild no pain periods... I did have a small amount when i had my lap last May but the Dr removed it but it came back :( ...... I had the OP wednesday night got home yesterday arvo im doing well surprisingly i was prepared that this pg wasn't going to continue which has helped im sad but i know now that we will have a baby just had 1 more hurdle...... Bit sore but not as bad as i was last time i had a Lap.. MOre poor belly though nice new scars :( hoping he would use the old ones but it seems he has moved to the side oh well i have nice battle scars to share with the kids to show them how much Mummy wanted them.....

We can start our next IUI as soon as AF comes, im due to see Dr Dalton for a check up in 3 weeks and he said he might pop me on provera to get af going which i good after my m/c it took 3 mths to start again although this is different it is still a pg...

Janeo, I'm really sorry to that you lost your right tube. What a total bummer. It's sure not a deal breaker though - remember Nicole Kidman only has one tube. A friend of mine conceived naturally with only one tube too. Clearly operating on one is no impediment to success.
