i totally agree with you about the FS thing and natural therapies.
my FS said i couldl do what my acupuncture lady had suggested. he said "it couldn't hurt".
what a confidence booster he is!
i think in our position you have to listen and try everything. even if it has such a small % of working!
thanks

Thank you OP. I had the scan on the same day (last Monday) and i had an 18 mm follie. I was using ovulation testers and had a slight pink line but they hadnt done any blood tests. I continued with the ovulation tests but i still havnt goten a positive ovulation test. Im wondering if the IUI was a waste of time (and money). they keep telling me because of my age that i should have no probs falling pregas but its just not happening.

Hi ladies i hope you dont mind me barging in!! i was just wondering if you could tell me if you bother with FSH the night before a 7am trigger for IUI?
Thanks

Hey everyone, you guys seem about confused as I am on a daily basis trying to figure out exactly whats going on!
I postponed my 3rd IUI to seek a 2nd opinion re moving onto IVF and also to test out the waters with a different FS as can't stand current one.
I went to Wesley in Brisbane and the FS i saw there was great - very supportive, thorough and the smallest thing i appreciated the most - I asked a question and he responded appropriately! Whoa - i know - big deal! I kind of did a test asking him the same question i asked my last FS to see what his response was. Let me tell you he passed!
So after looking over my results and asking about my family history the FS said he would recommend at this stage of the game to have a MRI (re my consistantly high prolactin levels over the last 12mths) and a hyseroscopy, laproscopy, dye insufflation, D&C and possible lasering of endometriosis (if present). Talk about thorough. When i asked my last FS about any more tests before going to IUI and IVF he said i had been tested to the hills and there was nothing further to do unless new tests were invented - what a ****!
Am interested if anyone here has had any of these procedures and can share - pretty please...

hi mummawannabe!
i just wanted to say that i had severe endo and polyps removed in feb 2004 with a laparoscopy. i was pregnant naturally 3 months later!!!
i had another laparoscopy in june 2006 to remove an ovarian cycst and was told endo was ok. since then i have done 6 x IUI's Four using clomid and two with letrozole....
i have also had a stim IVF cycle and a nat FET. we are lucky enough to have 2 frozen bubbies on ice. all of which have obviously been BFN.
so i think a lot of women are in the same boat.
what to do next? what will work? why didn't it work? what's wrong with me?
i don't have any faith in my FS at the moment. we are no closer to getting a BFP now then we were back when we started 3 years ago!
it is hard to find someone you can trust.
i think you should have the laparoscopy for investigation.
Goodluck with your journey.
not sure exactly what you want to know about the procedure, so if you have a specific question let me know!!!

Mummawannab : I had an HSG with one FS, which showed a blocked tube, and took the results to a second FS, who wasn't fussed at all by the result. I have found, since visiting two differnt fs clinics, and seeking three opinions, that each FS clinic, has there own protocol. To give myself, peace of mind, I weighed up my own pro's and cons and decided on a clinic and FS, and then decided to have faith in there procedures. I think I completly lost the whole point of my post then .. lol, sorry, IMO I would have a Lap, before I had a HSG, because of my past experience. And you have age on your side, so a month or so off ttc to check out every possibility would be my choice,
Kitty - How are you going with one day til testing ?
-
not good.
i had a progesterone test on day 21 which was last saturday. it was 53 which i thought was ok and means i have at least ovulated. it was only 23 in march before i started letrozole.
i then started to get my AF pains on day 22 as per usual. they continued monday but subsided yesterday and today??? WTF...anyway i still have some pains but not as bad as usual. had some blood when i wiped after going to the toilet (sorry for TMI!) this is very standed for me as i never get past day 26..i have had some different feelings of nausea and extreme tireness this month which i am putting down to the chinese medicine called "fertility support 2" supplied by my acupuncturist. i hope it was incresing my progesterone.
my big concern is my FS and is unwillingness to try new things. i have been told by his nurses that he is "conservitive". he doesn't believe in any natural therapies. i have no other choice in Cairns at the moment. however there is a new guy moving here soon! yah!
so as far as my current cycle, i'm pretty sure i am out. i have been pregnant before and know what the signs are. although i have heard women have AF signs and a BFP!!!
GL with your #4IVF cycle.

Well Kittykat, I hope you are getting strange symptoms for a reason, and af has continued to stay away today

Short Cycle
KK - If you can, try consulting a naturopath about your short cycle. I honestly believe you can successfully address this. You need at least 11 days from day of ovulation to create a good enough environment to support implantation (ie the build up of a nice thick endometrium that stays that way through to the 12th week), and on a 22 day cycle, you're not getting that.
I've said in the past that Vitex can address this. Many people worry about taking Vitex, and if that's the case, I say do it under the supervision of a naturopath. It has an immediate and positive effect on the production of hormones. With everything in balance you should get a better cycle length than 22 days. In my opinion the liquid form of Vitex is the best, and you can really only get this from a naturopath. Yes there are tablets, Blackmores Vitex, which only cost $12.00 a bottle. I'm all for them. But as I said, the naturopath is great for this kind of thing.
Re your Day 21 Prog - 53 is an excellent result and tells me that there was either fertilisation or that two follicles popped. Yay! Well done!
Have you had your end of cycle BT? We all want to hear the results of that! Or... has the cycle not ended???
:-)

hi originalP
what is an end of cycle BT?
the only BT, appart from progesterone, that i have ever done was with my ivf.
my af came on cd26 and i had the pregnyl shot day 11 and IUI was on day 12.
does that still sound like my luteal phase is too short?
i have done vitex through a nat/path but am considering doing it again. i am going away at hte end of the month and am not going back to FS for awhile. not only because of finance probs but also because he is not trying anything new or different. he just wants me to keep toing iVF/Fet. i told the nurse co-ordinator that my cycle is wrong and they don't seem to concerned.
ho hum?
what to do.....i feel like i am bashing my head against the wall.
thanks for your help and support.

sorry, i forgot to say that i am on letrozole again this month. we are going to try just time "loving"!!
but i am going to get some vitex as well!
thanks

BTs
Hi KK,
End of cycle BT is a pregnancy test! Seems superfluous, I know, when you clearly have AF. However, it's used to check progesterone and beta hCG levels to determine whether there was a fertilisation and attempted implantation. Its gives the FS additional information on how the cycle went.
i will dig through my stuff at home and see if I can find the paperwork on the White Protocol, which is what my clinic used for my IUI treatment. It clearly says what gets done on what day, what tests when and so on.
Lets hope this new FS arrives in Cairns soon. Some fresh ideas and a new approach would be good for you.
:-)

thanks so much OriginalP,
your help is great and really appreciated.
i just feel like giving up as nothing is changing.
my FS just dosen't seem to give me 100% and i can't afford to waste any more time or $$$$
thanks

Hi my name is Sonya,
I have never posted anything before, only lurked.
My Dh and I have been ttc for two years and started treatment at the end of last year. We have had five clomid cycles which resulted in two chemical pregnancies. We had our first iui on the 10th of July and I am now in that very frustrating period of the tww. Blood test on the 27th.
I have had three pregnyl injections, with the last this morning. I was wondering if anyone else was on pregnyl and what your symptoms are? Is pregnyl responsible for all pregnancy symtoms? I am extremely bloated, have lots of little pimples on my face (I never really get pimples) have sore breasts, headaches and the bouts of nausea started yesterday.
I hope you are all well and are having a good day today.
Sonya X

Hi Sonya
Welcome, just thought id let you know that i had the pregnyl injection with my last IUI and it gave me pregnancy symptoms really bad, specialy the really sore boobs! unfortunately it didnt work for me. As far as i know the pregnyl contains the pregnancy hormone so therefor makes you feel pregnant, it will also turn up on a home pregnancy test for about 9 days after the last injection. So your best to wait for the blood test, i got my hopes up doing a HPT.
GOOD LUCK AND BABY DUST TO YOU.

Pregnyl
Hi Sonya,
Take some time to check back through this thread and the previous ones to find past discussions on Pregnyl. We've all used it at various stages with varying results.
My experience of Pregnyl is that it really can't be trusted in terms of you knowing what's really going on. It mimics pregnancy symptoms and drags your cycle out longer which adds to the anticipation. Ask your FS to tell you what your progesterone readings are too, and these can be a better indication of what's happening.
My recommendation to you, and anybody with PCOS, is to get yourself onto B6 supplements ASAP. Also try Vitex, which has a direct and immediate impact on hormone production, particularly where PCOS is concerned. Blackmores brand of both are readily available everywhere, and not expensive.
Very good luck to you!

Thanks for the replies.
Everyday I have to keep myself from testing. I was thinking about testing just to compare the strength of the lines, but DH keeps convincing me that it is counterproductive. I know he is right, but I feel like I need to do something.
Chellie88: I completely understand the sore boobs they just keep getting worse! Nausea is not really there anymore, which could be a bad sign.
Original P: Thanks for the advice about the vitamins, I have heard of vitex before I think I wll try it, because my hormone levels are not good. I don't actually have PCOS just unexplained infertility and weird cycles.
6 days to go until BT, thanks again Sonya

HPTs
Sonya, we've all also talked at length about HPTs and the destructive impact they can have when used by someone on fertility treatment. They simply do not reflect the reality of a situation. In my case, an HPT showed negative - and was wrong!
Another supplement that's really helpful for hormone support is Thompson's Kelp. It supports healthy thyroid function, which in turn enourages the pituitary to talk to your ovaries and get everything in balance. Lipoec acid can support good liver function, which also has a role to play in healthy hormone production. I've published a list of vitamins a couple of times on this thread - check back if you want more info.
Just know this: many, many members on this thread have succeeded and gone BFP. You can too. Just keep trying and focus on drawing good luck to you. These are the two key factors for success, in my opinion.
:-)
