Talk to me about Clomid.

I am a 20 year old mum to a 2 yr old boy, My DP and i have been TTC baby number 2 for 12 mths now with no luck, I have PCO so i dont get regular periods, they can come every 2 mths, 3 mths, just wheneva no pattern, i no we are young and have time but i have such a strong desire to have a baby, TTC is just running my life, its all i can think about, i am desperate for another baby, also my son is getting older i would love him to have a brother or sister, i dont want him to grow up alone.

I have seen Clomid talked alot about on the forum but dont no much about it, im hoping someone can answer a few questions i have.

- Is it easy to get? will any doctor prescribe it?
- How is it taken? for a whole cycle? (28 days)?
- Does it have a high success rate?
- How do u no when ur ovulating on it?
- Any other information would be wonderful.

Hi Heaven Sent - my experience of clomid (on my 10th cycle of it) is that I am under the supervision of my FS as ultrasounds are required on certain days of my cycle to make sure it works. I take it from day 5 to day 9 of my cycle and if I do create any follies I certainly know when I ovulate as its quite painful!!
I have fallen pg on clomid - I really do think its a miracle drug and I hope that I can do it again, with a better outcome hopefully.
My GP referred me to my FS for this treatment. So maybe start there?

I've had 3 preg all with clomid and 2 full term 1 boy and 1 girl

Is it easy to get? will any doctor prescribe it? only and OB or Gyn can as far as I know
- How is it taken? for a whole cycle? (28 days)? Your Dr will tell you when he wants you to take it- i took mine on days 2-6 other peeps on days 5-9
- Does it have a high success rate? for me yes - i have pcos but some other . my ovaries are riddled with cysts seems my ovaries just needed at little push
- How do u no when yr ovulating on it? i had to go back ot my ob and have scans on day 12 or 14. Some drs do blood test to see if you've o'ed
- Any other information would be wonderful.
- take it at night less side effects-, took with 1st boy during day 0 hot flushes moody urgh. with my girl at night effects were far less.
I also had a dye test to see if my tubes where clear B4 my dr prescribed it. I was also taking 500mg of metformin a day with my boy- with my girl just clomid.
