How expensive is FSH?
I'm confused about why I had to pay for my ovidrel trigger at the last FS, but this FS makes me sign a form and medicare pays for it? I was prepared to pay my 90 bucks this morning but it was free! Woot!

I don't know much about iui but for ivf fsh causes the ovaries to be hyperstimulated so they develop as many eggs as possible.
love your multitasking N2L
My legs may be in stirrups but I can still type ;) :p
Actually, right this second, waiting to see the nurses for a bt.
Six follies, still small though so will keep stimming and start atagonist tomorrow. Pickup late next week.
Gonal f is about$500 a pen I think
LOL that mental image has made my day :D.
Sorry I cut that short as I was called in to see the nurse. With my clinic the fsh is inclusive. It depends on your dose as to how many you need.
Eta: just asked pharmacist. It is $600 but is
Sometimes covered by Medicare during iui depending on cycle type.
Hi Everyone
Loops12 - glad to see the back of you - and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Enjoy every minute in the PG threads - so pleased for you. Will be stalking you.
Saffy - glad you had a good break and GL for that next FET whenever you decide to go ahead with it.
Keta - a good decision I think to keep your inner circle small. We have only told a few people that we know will be supportive also and have found that to be the best thing for us so I hope it works for you. It also means if you get some good news you have the fun of sharing it with people as a bit of a surprise. Sounds like a crazy week for you and for your DH - fingers crossed for you.
N2L - too funny - the things we do hey - agree with Saffy - love your multitasking. Hope that your stim goes well and you have good results for your EPU.
SCD - where are you? Hope all is well??
Maruschke - GL with your cycle.
AFM - we had our EPU yesterday and got 11 eggs, 9 were mature and found out this morning that 8 have fertilised. So pleased! No OHSS at this stage either which is great as I had more than 40 follies. Was great to have EPU on a Friday and be able to take it easy all weekend and recover so that I'll be good to go for Wed for a 5 day transfer. Fingers crossed that our little embies keep up the good start.
Good luck to all
xx
8 fert is great! FX!
Just popping in to say hi to everyone :hello: I am totally lost as to where everyone is at the moment. Am I right in thinking that only KMond is cycling at the moment???? When does everyone else expect/hope to start??
KMond - Congrats again on your egg count! You must be thrilled :) I hope they continue to grow and divide as they should and your transfer goes well on Wednesday. How many will you have transferred? I hope to join you in the 2WW from sometime next weekend :)
Keta - DP and I have only told our parents and a couple of friends. No one asks me how we are going because I made it clear that the reason we werent telling everyone is that we dont want to be answering questions all the time. Perhaps I have scared them to the point they are afraid to enquire  I guess I also look at it from the point of view that if we werent doing IVF I wouldnt tell people 'DP and I had sex last night because we want to conceive'. No one's business but ours.
AFM - Still stimming. CD 10 and day 8 of jabs. Started the antagonist (cetrotide) yesterday.
For the past day or so I have had the worst metallic taste in my mouth which wont go away :( I did some research and apparently it is caused by estrogen levels rising, just like in early pregnancy. Which brings me to my next point...I kind of freaked out when I got my BT results on Friday arvo. The nurse said my progesterone and LH were still at base levels (so good, no ovulation imminent) but she wanted to check my estrogen levels with my FS. They were 1127. I have never been given my estrogen levels at this stage so I had no idea whether they were high, low or what :dunno: Anyway, I rang again on Saturday and spoke to another nurse who was more forthcoming with info. She said my FS was happy to continue with what we were doing. I asked her what the concern was and she said the level was on the high side for being only five days into stimming. She said that they consider a level of 2000 at the end of stimming an indicator of risk for OHSS.
I have posted elsewhere on the forum about this, as well as consulting my good friend Dr Google and I dont think 2000 is that high... Oh well, I guess they will keep monitoring me and if there is a problem I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
I have a scan booked for early tomorrow morning with a proper ultrasound place. My ovaries like to hide behind my uterus so my FS sometimes has trouble seeing them. It is easier for the 'big machine' to give a more accurate reading. So this time tomorrow I should know more about how many follies, what size, etc and what day my pickup should be (probably Wed, Thu, Fri). I am really hoping for a few eggs this time so we can freeze one or two just in case...
If I get enough embryos I will have two transferred due to my age and lack of success on previous cycles. I really, really, really, really hope this cycle is the one for us
Hope everyone is well x
Hey N2L, hope all is well. My first stim cycle was up near 15,000 at end of stimming and I was feeling a bit seedy (EPU=12 eggs), but after discussing it with the FS, they went ahead with transfer (although not successful). I didn't get any sicker, but I would say that it may have been a different scenario if my little one had stuck. In retrospect, I would not go ahead with ET if they went this high again - simply because after 4 more cycles, I am somewhat jaded and I feel that the care at that first clinic was inferior to what I have received on my last 3 cycles.
I think in other cycles I have gone up to 7,000(EPU = 3 eggs) and 3,000ish (EPU = 9eggs) respectively without any signs or symptoms whatsoever. So the levels were all very random in relation to egg haul - go figure! (I will try and find my records and check) I so hope that this will be your time
Great result Kmond! I hope your little ones are thriving!
Hi all, hope you are enjoying your weekend.
Hi - I hope everyone has had a good weekend!
Thanks to everyone for the advice on keeping the inner circle small. It was a hard choice because I want people to stop asking the dreaded 'when are you to going to have a baby, you've been married nearly 3 years?' It prob feels like its comming up more than it is  . We decided though that making the whole thing public we wold prob just get more intrusive questions. Looks like we will prob need to go through with the puregon cycle once af arrives. I have sore bb and cramping that started yesterday which Im sure would be too early for implantation. Not too disapointed just feel sorry fo DH who did all that driving!
My mum was at my house when I got the call saying I was going to ovulate naturally in the next 24 hours and so get to it. Since she has been calling to check if we had sex  (I really need to learn to lie so she can't figure out what'd going on!:D) I love ya mum but some thing do not need to be discussed! I have let those who we have told no more questions. And Im thinking of telling a couple of the poeple that we have 'taken a break for a while' to see if it gets them off my back. Eveyone is well meaning but it has definately been a learning curve for me!
N2L - I really hope your scan goes well tomorrow.
KMod - I've got my fingers crossed for you and will be thinking of you on Wednesday.
Tantee - fingers crossed for you too!
:o OMG I have 12 follies!!!!!!
R - 16, 16, 14, 14, 13, 12, 11
L - 13, 12, 11, 9, 8
That's a record for me!!!
Just waiting to see the nurse now for further instructions but I am hoping there will be time for most of them to mature.
Awesome! Grow follies, grow!
great result N2L- good for you, the sizes sound good too!
Hi everyone
I'm just dropping in to say Congrats on the great number of eggs Kmond and number of follies N2L.
Best of luck with your cycles.
I don't start mine until November but will be watching what everyone else is up to.
xx HB
Thanks gals. I feel strangely proud of myself  The wins are so few and far between in this game, I guess you have to take them where you can get them!
My EPU is on Saturday. DP is less than thrilled...one, because he is a rabid Collongwood fan (I am Geelong!) and two, because the day hospital is practically next door to the MCG. No pĂ*rking and lots of traffic :(
Oh well....I spoke to the woman who books the EPUs and requested to get in as early as possible. Fingers crossed!!!
Now grow little follies, grow!!!!
