Emma they don't hurt :) pinch a roll hard and let the alcohol swab dry completely or else it stings. ;) alternate sides each night.
Goodluck
vic - bt is scheduled for 15/6. hope work is ok for you today.
emma - no real pointers/tips come to mind, just that it is never as bad as you imagine. i am a needle-phobe, and the fsh jabs really didnt hurt. i think it was more the idea of injecting myself that made me anxious the first time (well actually, i got nurses from my work/local gp to do the first 2 stim cycle jabs... then i progressed to letting my dh do them... still havent taken the step to do it myself...). i cried with the first jab, i think the realisation that i was doing ivf hit me then. but honestly, it has been a lot easier than i thought it would be. you'll be an old hand at it in no time. just post any questions/concerns you have - plenty of ladies in here with a range of experiences to help you out or just give you some reassurance. best of luck ;)
Thanks so much ladies!
I have never, ever felt so welcomed into a new thread before.
Ladies, you are all absolutely AMAZING!
GL Emma, I have a fridge full of hard drugs too, hehehe. I found by pinching the skin quite hard took away the attention/discomfort from the needle. Plus the needles are so so thin, you hardly feel them anyway.
Hi Emma. Completely agree with all the other gals. The needles really don't hurt.
Although to be completely honest, I still havent mustered up the courage to give the injectins myself (despite lots of encouragement here). My DH did all my injections.
I should also say that I think I found the needle jabbing part the most empoering part of the ivf process. It feels like you are doing some proactive to help get yourself to that final goal. It goes super quick - you will be at egg pick up and transfer before you know it.
Hi Ladies,
Emma as the other lovely ladies have said, the needles don't really hurt, I found I had imagined they were going to be worse than they turned out to be. My DH & I jabbed together (he has type 1 diabetes) so we did it on the count of three;) once you do the first one you'll be wondering what you were worried about! Good luck, this is a great place to be whilst on your journey, there is a lot of support from the nicest ladies:)
Vic, I'm still plodding along on the pill, I have my nurses appointment next week & pick up the meds then:) it seems to be taking forever this time!! patience isn't my strong suit! How are you going? sounds like you had a nice weekend...
Hi everyone else! I hope you are all doing ok whatever stage you are at in your cycles;)
Take care. xx
Hi Lovely Ladies
Just popping in to announce an official BFP today with beta HCG of 1130. Its nice to be able to tell somebody :) Hope to see some of you soon in the pregnancy thread.
Love Bee xx
Congratulations Bee! I hope the following months are happy & healthy for you! Take care xx
Yay Bee :)
Emma - I did all my own shots, and had extras due to needing daily clexane too. Those ones REALLY hurt, gonal F/puregon wasn't too bad. I always took lots of deep breaths, and wiggled my toes every time I did a shot. Be prepared to take some time to psych yourself up to do it the first few times, after that it's not so bad. I've done it in odd places! Disabled toilet at work, anyone? Ha ha.
