Mindhugs - thanks hunnie. I don't have any advice as the FS or nurses didn't give me any on food and drink. I've just tried to follow the things my naturopath told me in general for pre-conception care. The drugs didn't knock me around emotionally so hopefully you will be fine. My FS said that the antagonist cycle can produce slightly better quality eggs so hopefully this will be the last one for you.

Wantaminime - thanks. It can be a bit of information overload. Just focus on one step at a time. GL with the sniffing and jabbing.

Yogi - 100% fertilisation is really fantastic. You must have some great quality embies growing. Bring on Saturday!! Thanks for your support, I just hope that the quality is all good, no point producing a lot of eggs if the quality isn't there.

Minime - I did a more detailed personal in the TWW thread. I'm just so glad it is all back on track.

Oh Minime - I KNEW IT!!! Now take it easy hun and make sure you give that gorgeous embie the best chance to keep hanging on. I remember my FS telling me to sit still, which of course I never do. This time I will be putting legs in the air for a few weeks (kidding - I wouldn't be able to feel my legs after a while). Very happy for you hun. :clap: Each successful step is another step closer!!!

Lisa B - I actually had some loopy moments today. I think I'm a lightweight when it comes to medicine. They reduced my Puregon to 125mg this time as I OHSS'd on 150mg!!!

AFM - sooooooo looking forward to my shot in the morning (ha ha ha). I wake up at 6:45am, put a freezer brick on my pinched fat to numb it and then DH injects. Can't think of a better way to start the day :rofl: (I think I need help....)

AFM: As we know I was told last week my job will be finishing up in 2 weeks due to lack of funding and it got me down a bit, well anyway I applied for a job on Tuesday, 2 hours later they called me for an interview which I went to yesterday and today they called to say I had the job and start on the 5th July.
I think things are starting to look up for us again. The new job has already approved my holidays in September, which is when we complete our first ICSI cycle :).

Ladies NEVER give up hope because you really don't know what's around the corner.

Things seem to be all going ok in here (for now!).

Minime I hope your bleeding has gone for good - I've heard of something to do with blood vessels bursting or something in the uterus causing bleeding which doesn't harm the pg. God I hope that's the case with yours.

Mindhugs - best of luck for this cycle. I wasn't given any specific tips either - it's really annoying because we all want some guidelines to follow just so we can feel like we are increasing our chances. I basically try to live the most boring, healthy life I can while on an IVF cycle. Studies have shown that acupuncture can increase success rates by up to 60% - I'm giving it a go, but who knows? I don't think the drugs made me emotional, but my DH would say otherwise.

Yogi - you must be feeling great about your strike rate so far! Hope they keep on doing as they're told before being reunited with their mummy on Saturday.

Dreams - nice to 'see' you again and massive congrats on the job

AFM - had my transfer today - Yay - now I'm at the business end of the cycle. It all went well but guess we'll find out how well in a couple of weeks!

I've been reading a fair bit written over the last few years on this thread and I think you lovely ladies are more than qualified to comment on my predictament!

Hubby had a vastectomy 16yrs ago, no real hope of reversal....not many swimmers but enough to fertilise (has two teenage children from preivous marriage). Has to have TESA.

Me:
Harvest May 09;

18 eggs, 12 mature, 3 made it to blast day 5. Used frozen swimmers.

ICSI fresh - 125 puregon, after transfer crinone - BFN
2 FET late 2009 - both natural cycle, pregnyl 1500 x 3 after transfer - BFN

Harvest march 2010;

12 eggs collected, 8 mature, 4 made it to blast day 5. Fresh swimmers.

ICSI fresh - 125 puregon, after transfer crinone - BFN
1 FET june - natural cycle with 25 puregon everyday also, pregnyl 1500 x 3 after transfer - BFN today :(

Have only seen the one FS at Hollywood in Perth.

Wondering where to go from here.....have 2 frosties at day 5 blast.

Emryologist always reported excellent cell survival in thawing (100% on last FET, others were in 90's).
Endometrium Class A on ultrasound.

Haven't had any other tests done apart from original screening. Have only seen the FS twice, once at beginning and again after i had to get an updated referral and had to go for another collection. Not sure if this is normal practice elsewhere, also whichever doc is on duty does the transfer, and after that i just deal with the nurses??

Spoke with nurse about doing the chromosomal test (PSD?) on embryos before transfer (very expensive)....not sure whether it is needed anyway, DH has had children and I had a pregnancy terminated a decade ago.....but dont really understand what this test is for and how it can help.

Should i request other bloods before next transfer? Since ive had a termination i imagine there is a possibility that my uterus (or somewhere in there) has scarring - i would have expected this would have been taken into consideration?? I havent had an internal testing - apart from HSG and pap smear in the beginning.

Have also read of others changing diet (carbs/prot/fat) prior and during collection to get more viable eggs? This has never been mentioned at hollywood.

Soooo....am tossing up whether to go for another FET (using one or the two remaining), try another harvest in the hope i get better quality eggs, request some more blood tests....or try another FS at a different centre? Hollywood is very expensive in comparison with other centres, but am unsure if a could take all my records with me? or if any other centres can accommodate me (i live 2hrs from perth and currently am able to have some bloods 1/2hr away).

Any comments greatly appreciated.

Another day down for us all regardless of where we are in our cycles. Am greatful it is Friday. Has anyone ever have trouble sleeping soundly on the Syranel. I haven't slept well for two nights now. I think that alone is what is going to get me down on this journey if nothing else. I can usually stay pretty positive but if I don't get my sleep I am just a nasty, depressed and moody bag.

Minime - thankyou for the good wishes. they are appreciated. I am really pleased all has turned out well for you. An amazing result that is well deserved. I like your idea of eggs for eggs. I will have to do that. And seeing as I have my own chooks I know that I am getting them fresh and organic. Extra potency lol.

Yogi - Great result with your eggs. Three is your lucky number. Good luck tomorrow with your transfer and I hope the TWW just flies by for you.

AFM - So tired. only got a couple of hours sleep over the last couple of nights. I am not sure if it is the spray or just too much going thru my head. I know everything is playing on my mind because when I did sleep I had the strangest dreams. One was really odd. I dreamt that my egg collection was done in South America and 11 were collected and they were all diamonds. I kept insisting to my husband we had to go and get them. I am not sure if it means that diamonds are really important to me or if the eggs hold as much importance and diamonds. I know why I dreamt of South America. We have just returned from there and we both loved it. Any way I know I am strange that was a doozy.

I am new on this forum, just started the IVF procedure.
I'd like to ask your advice. I started taking the pills more than two weeks ago now. The problem is: the doctor told me to start on that, but when I called my nurse, she had no idea about my case. It seems she did not get my papers.
Now, I had an appt with my doctor on Tuesday and she said that I should start Syranel on Wednesday, but first I should call my nurse. I called her, once again, she did not know about it and asked me to wait for her call, most probably on Wednesday. And I have not received a call since then.. I tried to reach her but she is never in the office.
I only have 5 pills left in this cycle and I read somewhere that Syranel has to be taken in parallel with the pills for a week... Is that true?
Wantaminime, are you still taking the pills? I'm also afraid of the side effects that you mentioned, as I am not a good sleeper anyway...
I really don't know if I have to worry about starting the Syranel or is that all right and should wait till the nurse calls me finally.. It's really annoying that the doctor says one thing and the nurse another... Did anyone have a similar experience?

Sorry I can't help you with the pill thing as I have not had to take any. I can only suggest you continue to repeatedly call the nurse. In the end she will get sick of your messages and actually answer the call. Also suggest the urgency in your message to her as well.

Gday girls sorry I have been MIA been dealing with or should I say not dealing with our bfn but the nurse called today (they started me back on the pill till they could work out plan of attatck) I stop the pill on the 26th of this month so next sat then I should get a af and be at cd1 on the 30th then bt on the 1st and start puregon that night (if all goes to plan) and then they'll monitor me and if I grow too quick I'll be going to back to melb for the transfer but if we make it to the 12th we get to do it in sale am happy eiether way I don't care where we have to go but am just so excited no nasal spray this time so my nostrils get a break. so that's what's been happening here am sick with the flu atm but am glad tommorrow is saturday and can sleep in a little am getting my hair cut at the hairdressers next week to make me feel good first time i have been to the hair dressers in 11 years!!! lol
Loops: it's hard to stay away isn't it but like you said you can relax follow everyone else's progress and hopefully see you and the everyone else in the pg threads. If this round doesn't work for us we'll be doing oct in sale

Wantaminime, thanks much, I've just received a call from the nurse finally - I have to start Synarel tomorrow. This will be the first time for me, I'm wondering about the side effects... I'm worried I'll not be able to sleep just like you.. I had a M/C in the past and my only pregnancy symptom was not being able to sleep during nights..
How long do you have to use Synarel?

Sarah - I personally would be taking myself off to see a chinese herbalist/acupuncturist or naturopath. With IVF costing so much emotionally and financially you want to give it the best shot, and there might be something simple that needs tweeking in your diet or with supplements that Dr's don't test for. I think they all complement each other really well.

Dinnie - I've never taken pills either. Glad you finally heard from the nurse. My experience is that IVF Dr's and Nurses always make the utmost effort to return calls and inform you as much as possible. They always work together like clockwork. My doctor doesn't care if I call him on weekends. He would rather that than have me stress over something.

Trublue - Sorry to hear that. I think most of us who experience BFN feel like withdrawing for a while........good to see you back in here hun.

AFM - I went to Seaworld on my own today. Only because I had a local's VIP multi entry pass in my handbag and I was in the area. I bought some donut holes and watched the animals for a while. There was the cutest baby dolphin in there with its mummy. God it was the most adorable thing - so tiny. One of those magical moments :angelic:

Starting Cetrotide tomorrow - tips anyone? Sounds nastier than Puregon....

Mindhugs - thanks for sharing your magical moment - made me smile:D. Sorry - never heard of cetrotide so no tips there. Can't imagine it'd be much fun though - none of the other drugs to do with ivf are fun - jabbing / sniffing / inserting. So, good luck with that one!;)

Sarah and Dinnie :welcome: Hope you don't have to hang around here for too long and can move on to the pg forums! Dinnie - glad you finally got in touch with your nurse. They should understand how fragile we all are during an ivf cycle and not leave us waiting (mine are always really good). Best of luck for this cycle.

Sarah - I can only agree with mindhugs' advice to see a acupuncturist / naturopath. They look beyond the hormones and tubes to your overall health. There have also been several recent scientific studies showing the benefits of acu in increasing ivf rates. As for your records, I'm not sure, but I think the information is yours and has to be passed on if requested. Tough decisions you're making. Frozen transfers are a lot cheaper and less invasive (as you know) and seeing as you still have some frozen embies I'd maybe maybe be leaning that way???

When should one get the acupuncture, say for a FET cycle.....ie before? during TWW?. Not that im very fond of needles, but that just seems par for the course in this game....Does it hurt?

I think i'll go for some extra screening tests too.

Wantaminime - sorry cant be of help...I havent had any bad reactions to Synarel before. apart from the disgusting taste. i always used a little bit of lavender oil on my pillow if i know im going to have trouble sleeping. a few drops in the bath are good too or on your temples....always works.


After trawling through this thread a little more today it is clear that there are many inspiration women out there who support and inspire others to never give up hope and have the belief that one day we will all get what we wish for the most.

Fingers crossed for all those hoping for some good news.

Mindhugs - I haven't heard of cetrotide before, GL with it. I've had puregon and actually find it easier to use than gonal. When I was really little I went to Sea World and told people for years that when I grew up I was going to become a dolphin trainer.

Dinnie - Welcome. Are you taking syneral because you are on the Down Reg cycle? I used syneral on my down reg cycle and I can't remember precisely but it was something like 3 weeks. There was a week overlap with BCP, although that is approximate. The only side effect I had was very mild headaches, not to the point I needed to take anything for it. If you do get a headache take panadol or panadeine, the nurse told me to steer away from asprin or nurofen due to potential implantation issues.
I also had a glitch between my FS and the nurses with the administration side of things. When I saw my FS she told me I was going to do down reg, but later on when I saw the nurse she said my FS had put antagonist on the system. This meant some delay in coordinating dates in my cycle. I didn't really see what the big deal was so I started the syneral according to the chart given to me which mapped out the down reg cycle. When I rang and told the nurse I had started she was a bit annoyed because she said the nurses need to coordinate the cycle. Anyhow it took a few weeks for the paperwork to catch up but I just liaised with my nurses and FS as I didn't want to hold myself up because the down reg is a long cycle. You probably do need to speak to the nurse, but I didn't let it hold me up. Does your nursing team have a timeframe on when they need to return calls back by. My clinic is usually 3.30pm if a message is left before then.

Trueblue - glad to hear that you are starting a new cycle. bummer about the cold/flu, there is so much of that going around at the moment.

WMM - you dream sounded amazing and made me laugh. No, I didn't have sleep issues on syneral, only very mild headache. The only sleep issue I had was at the later point of the gonal I would wake feeling ovary pain.

Sarah - I'm new to this myself so I probably don't have the best advice here. I did have a lot of testing up front as I pretty much demanded it. I do know that a lap can show more than a HSG. My lap showed mild endo which wasn't picked up on a HSG. The extra testing comes at a price, so I guess when you want to push for these things will be a decision for you to make.
