LT TTC & taking Clomid/Metformin #2

Glad to hear the lap went well, I really hope they find something wrong IYKWIM, not wrong, but an answer as to way it hasn’t happened yet. I truly believe that my lap played a massive part in us conceiving.

I had pain for about a week or so after woods, yeah it was my belly button one that hurt the most too. That’s great that your bleeding has stopped, they’re nothing worse. Mine stopped the next day also but then AF arrived the same day (which was brought on early from the op). Cant exactly remember how long I was bloated for, at least a few days I’m pretty sure. Remember that we all react and recover differently. A lot of the other girls on this site that were having them the same time as me recovered within a few days whereas I was off work for a week and a half.

Rest up and I hope you recover soon. I have everything crossed that this is your answer. Take care Xxoo

I recovered pretty quickly from my lap although I do remember the belly button incision being the worst. I think that is because there is so much movement happening around the waist area whenever we stand, sit or twist and generally move about. And wearing jeans was out for at least a week! I couldn't bear any pressure in that area. And the bloating went down within about 2 days, but I don't recall any shoulder pain. I have read since that it can be quite common.

I hope you are feeling better soon and recover quickly, and that you get some answers.

RhiChiChi: So glad that your lap went well. I'm sure your results will give you the answers you are looking for. Thinking of you during your waiting period. I had a lap many years ago but can't remember what my recovery was like, so sorry, I can't give you any advice with that.

epayne: Glad you are feeling better and the snoring has subsided. I bet DH is relieved, lol.

Bec: That was extremely brave of you to make that phone call. Good on you. I'm glad you are feeling a bit better though.

Chez67: How did you go with getting some info from FS?

AFM: I had my cd12 scan today. Once again, there were 4 lovely follicles so I had the pregnyl injection again. FX once again. OB said today that if we do not conceive this time around to stop with the clomid for next cycle and make an appointment with him to see about booking a Lap just to check everything out (tubes, look for endo, etc.). Depending on how the Lap goes, he will look at doing AI (his words) and than if we still have no luck he said we will move to IVF. It's a little bit scary thinking about doing all of this but at the same time exciting. It kind of gives you more hope that we are going to get our results that we are after. Hopefully something happens this cycle and we dont have to worry about any of that.

Question, for those of you who have the pregnyl injection, how long after are you told to DTD? We were told to wait 36hours and then do it as much as we possibly can. We were also told to stop DTD at least 3 days before the injection. Is this the same advice you are all getting also?

Hope - good luck!! I hope your trigger injection gets you a lovely egg and you don't have to worry about doing a lap.

Rhichichi - I had a really fast recovery from my lap but I do still have bruising around my belly button (I had the lap about 2 weeks ago). I don't remember exactly how long the bloating lasted but it was probably a week? As chez said, we're all different. The worst pain I experienced was the shoulder pain from the gas.

Porsche - fingers crossed those magic pills do their job!! didn't you say you have twins on both sides of your family? I'd say your odds are pretty high!

Liz - glad you've recovered enough for the snoring to ease up. I thought of you the other night - I have had a cold and I dozed off during state of origin and woke myself up with my snoring! Good luck playing the waiting game. Personally, I think the endless waiting is the worst part of TTC!!

Chez - aawww. Sorry you're havign bad luck. I would definitely confirm what your fs was expecting to see on the bt. I took my last pill on Monday and had my first blood test today which I thought was standard as I thought you're supposed to O 5-10 days after finishing the clomid. I hope the 100mg works and you're not experiencing too many more side effects. good luck!

Bec - ((hugs)) it's ok to not be ok about it. one of the hard things about early miscarriage is that you feel like you aren't justified in feeling sad about what could have been because you didn't have much time to fall in love with the baby etc. At least, this is how I feel. But it really is ok to be sad about what could have been and have a little time to grieve for it. I hope you're feeling better today.

afm: I am a bit confused. I started this cycle 2 days afetr my lap/hyst because the spotting I experienced after the op disappeared and then reappeared but was heavy like AF. So the FS said to start back at CD1 and I started the clomid CD 5-9. I was temping to see what my temps would do for my first clomid cycle and because I wanted to know when I had ovulated and I had a temp jump on CD9 when I was still taking the clomid. It has stayed high for 4 days but I thought it might just be a fever because I've had a cold. So I went for my first blood test today (CD13) and my progesterone was really high so I have obviously already ovulated so I must have ovulated on CD9 whilst I was still taking the clomid. Which I guess is a good thing but also annoying aswe had planned to do the IUI this cycle.
So I'm thinking maybe the bleeding after my lap/hyst was not CD1 after all but just mid-cycle bleeding.
Has anyone ever heard of ovulating whilst still taking the clomid pills? I'm just trying to work out how the extra oestrogen would have fit in with Oing...
Anyway, at least I am now 4dpo and I didn't even realise it! Our BD was pretty good so fingers crossed!

AFM - im almost 17 weeks now, cant believe it! have my first midwife appointment next week so hopefully will get to see bubs again and hopefully see if bubs is pink or blue.

hannahfroodoo - according to my FS you can O while taking clomid. Apparently there is no problem about taking an extra dose or two of the clomid after ovulation (this was in case that happened to me ATM as I don't finish clomid until Saturday night and I have fertile CM now). So there is every chance that you were CD1 when you thought but I guess that depends on whether you normally ovulate earlier or later in your cycle. I know I can O anywhere from CD 6 - CD16 which kind of makes DTD interesting! That's why my FS does a b/t on CD1 to doublecheck that is the beginning of the cycle and to baseline the results looking for the effectiveness of the clomid. Is this the first time you have been on clomid? Maybe you are just responding really well? Either way I wish you lots of luck for a BFP hun!

Hope - hi - yay on the 4 good follies - that is great news. Re the pregnyl - I have it prescribed to me for post O not as a trigger although I have used it in the past as a trigger for IVF cycles. Normally for IVF the trigger is given 36 hours before egg collection, so maybe that is where the 36 hours comes from? I would have thought it wouldn't matter if you DTD early because the more sperm the better to catch one of those eggs. And the stop DTD 3 days before the injection sounds like an IVF protocol as well - the theory is that too many ejaculations will reduce the quantity of the sperm needed at the critical moment so to stop and save them up. My FS thinks that is rubbish and if we do another round of IVF has recommended daily ejaculation for 5 days prior to egg collection. She reckons the fresher the better when it comes to sperm. I can't see why a natural conception would be any different but I know there is a lot of discussion about every 24hrs versus 48hrs when TTC. I think in the end go with your gut and any romantic moments that come up - enjoy your time together rather than program it as there is nothing more unromantic about conception sex! Good luck!

Hi to epayne, Bec and everyone else. I am slowly working out where everyone is up to.

AFM, I finally got to speak to my FS last night. She was much less rushed than she is during the day so was happy to answer my questions. The short answer to my extra round of clomid is that there was absolutely no change to my levels from CD1 to after the first 5 doses of 50mg. So she decided to try another round at 100mg. I haven't had as many problems with headaches and night sweats as I did on the 50mg which has amazed me. I was worried it was going to be much worse. I have also had fertile CM since Tuesday afternoon so she has told us to DTD as much as we can until we get an indication of ovulation which I should see on my fertility monitor, but I will also have another b/t on Monday morning. She took the time to explain a lot of other things for me, in particular I was concerned that I wasn't responding at all which she said is not unusual and that 100mg is a pretty standard dose. So FX that I O soon and that we catch that eggie. Unfortunately I don't have an opportunity for a scan as she is in surgery all day Fridays. Anyway she won't due a scan until the levels have changed so I should know more on Monday.

Sorry for the big panic message on Tuesday night - I had had an awful day and had a bad headache and I was completely unprepared for the b/t result and the ensuing increase in clomid. I have to rebrief myself about not needing to be in control of everything and sometimes just following the Dr's advice is ok.

Anyway, enough rambling. I have a busy weekend with a uni assignment due Monday so I may not have time to pop in but I hope everyone has a great weekend. :bluedust::pink-babydust: to all.

Hi Ladies, just popping in to give you an update on the Femara.

My last post I was worried that I wasn't going to ovulate even though on the scan there was definately a follicle. Well i did ovulate but unfornately not preggas.

So anyway started on my next round of Femara the other day, and I have to tell you ladies, i think the issues I had with the first round might have been all in my head. I have had no probs so far, no hot flushes or headaches and not irritable.

hopefully this is a good sign for us, this will be our month and be a happy and heathy pregnancy without any drama.

I wish that this journey was easier or at least give me something, some sort of hope :S I don't know if I can do this anymore, it takes up too much of my energy and my emotional stress levels are not coping....

I've just came back from a 4 night stay with 31 11 year olds and have been sleeping since getting home!
Trying to gage the mood on this site at the moment - think we are all feeling the same - bit emotional and a bit fed up!
I go to the hosp next week to discuss what happens next for us. I've had 4 rounds of clomid since October with a M/C after the 1st round. I am going to be way more demanding this time round. I will ask about the possibility of IVF - we get one round free on the NHS - but there is a long waiting list, and I would like to be on it while we are using clomid etc.
I have never felt so emotional before, always nauseous, and even having crazy dreams during the night. It would be great to abandon this journey, but I could never forgive myself for just giving up.
I think the fs wil increase my dose of clomid - although my last progesterone level was 48 - and hopefully they will track the developing follicles which might help me to identify when I am ovulating!
Anyway, hope you ladies are well and keeping everything crossed!

chez - I'm glad you got to talk to your fs about everything, it is even more stressful when you don't know why they are doing things. I ended up ringing up my fs up on my first cycle as I was unsure bout things and was so relieved after talking to him.

hannahfroodoo - goodluck with this cycle. Everyone O's at a different time so maybe you just O early in your cycle.

hope - wow 4 follies, fingers crossed. when talking with my fs about fsh injections and then the last injection to release the egg (forget what it is called), he said that there is no need to stop DTD before the injection and start DTD within 24 hrs of the injection.

AFM - I am now due for doing a pg test so will be doing one in the morning :pray:. I would have done one this mornig, but DH had other ideas this morning ;) (sorry for TMI).

Rhi- GL going back to work. It is such a taxing journey TTC and people just don't get how much energy it takes. Try to ease back into work if you can, and hopefully it won't be too overwhelming. As for being fed up, I totally get that! I'm thinking it's almost time for a break, a few months off to just not have to think about it. hugs again!

Tammara- 17 weeks!!! oh my gosh. So glad all is well.

Claudette- Glad you're back. School camp hey? So glad I teach Prep (Infants? not sure what you call it there) and no camps in sight! Glad you are going back to FS. It mighht be worth getting onto that waiting list. You can always cancel later if you don;t need it.

Hope- i was told that I should DTD for 3 days from the trigger shot. I'm guessing it's all over and done for you now though!

Nelly- My first round was an aweful round for side effects too! I think our bodies just have to get used to it. Glad you o'd. GL for this month.

Chez-Glad you got it all sorted out. I am a huge control freak and I like to know the reasons why I have to do things. I'm glad you got your answers and hopefully are on the right track now. BTW I have been on 100mg clomid for all except the first cycle of clomid and it worked for me!

epayne- GL with your test! I am due to POAS tomorrow too, but I haven't even bought one becasue I'm very sure I'm not UTD this month! FX we have a BFP posting tomorrow!!!!!

AFM: pretty sure Af is due tomorrow, but not really sure becasue O was a bit all over the place this cycle! I have been a bit crampy, but only on one side so not sure what that means. I have no sore bb's, been tired but very busy, and thats it. Will probably just wait and see if AF arrives in the next few days. I think next round I'm gonna be naughty and go back to clomid instead of the injections. I was so much more relax on that casue I knew what to expect. Maybe with the metformin, I might have some luck and get a sticky one.

I have a meeting with work today and I'm going to be discussing the possibility of someone else being trained in certain parts of my job because I'll have to have time off starting the end of the month so we can start IVF and I can't be called in the middle of EPU to sort some drama out for them.

AFM I so feel like crying at the moment. Last night DH and I had a bit of a fight over what to do next if this cycle didn't work (which now I know it didn't I got a BFN :cry: ) He wants to try doing clomid 100mg for another cycle as this cycle wasn't the best for DTD as both of us have had the flu. I keep asking him to read the booklets the fs gave us but he's not that interested which anoys me, just cause I'm the one with the problems and not him. AAHHHHH. But I just don't know I really only had that one day where I thought I o'd and bedding was good at that time. (sorry for TMI) Our next appointment with the fs is on thurs and our fs said last time that if this cycle didn't work he would like us to try FSH injections as well as clomid.. And to top it off I don't know if my boss is going to like me not coming into work till late due to having all the BT and US in the mornings if I do the injections. I'm just a little confused and don't know what to do and DH isn't helping at the moment.

HannahFroodoo, sorry hun, I’m not sure how early you can O on Clomid, I would defiantly think it is possible to O whilst still on them though, maybe it was just you on your own working and not the drugs, GL for that BFP!

Chez69, GL with this second round of Clomid, I hope it does the trick for you. I too went from 50mg to 100mg and experienced a lot less symptoms on the higher dose, strange hey?

Oh Porsche, I hope you’re ok Honey, meltdowns are totally normal, hope you had a lovely weekend and are feeling a little better. GL in your meeting today, yes you’re right you totally cannot be interrupted by work, hopefully they will understand and train someone else for you.

Nellym, fantastic news about O’ing, so sorry your not UTD though  Glad to hear the second round it treating you nicer. Oh yey positive conception thoughts, it’s been a while since they’ve been on this site (for obvious reasons) GL hun, I have everything crossed for you.

Jules, oh hun, hope you too are feeling a little better after the weekend, I totally get what you are going through but I promise you it is worth the pain. When do you get your results from your lap? Hopefully they will have some good new in store for you.

Claudette, WOW 31 x 11yo’s that’s enough to drive anyone insane. Totally agree with being more assertive with your fs, I think because they are the professionals sometimes we just agree with what they say, but at the end of the day it is our bodies going through the roller coaster and you should be able to do whatever you want. GL hun, and Bec’s right you can always cancel later if you don’t need IVF.

Liz, Oh hun, my DH was totally the same, not willing to discuss anything, really didn’t want to do IVF but couldn’t explain why and yes I too felt that it was my fault that we could not conceive cos DH had no issues. Remember that this is a team effort though, this is not all your problem to sort out. Unfortunately I don’t really have any advice on what to do with DH. I ended up packing up all our TTC things, thermometer, Elevit tablets, paperwork etc and putting it all in a box and not talking about TTC again until finally DH said to me one day “Is everything ok? You haven’t mentioned babies in the past 2 weeks”, he finally came around and we were able to discuss it. I think I was just bombarding him with so much information and unfortunately it takes them a little longer to process things. And don’t apologise for TMI, it’s great to be DTD when you’re not TTC, good on you, gave me a giggle too, thanks! Hope you are able to get things sorted before your app on Thursday.

Bec, FX we have a BFP postings from you, I can’t believe you haven’t bought a test yet. I have everything crossed for you love. If you are more comfortable on the Clomid then defiantly go back on it (if you need to that is), you know it works and hopefully Met will help bubba hold on. GL! Yes all is well with me thanks hun.

AFM: Not too much too report, ms is still hanging around (I’m not complaining though) and we have our 12 week scan this Friday, will let you all know how it goes.

So i may have been stalking this thread for a while! ;)
Hubby and I have an appointment at the end of this month with the FS.
He is going to start me on chlomid, and i have a little idea what it is / does ... but i was wondering if i could get a few pointers or help with some questions on what to ask the FS about this drug and when/how to take it and when scans/blood tests should be booked etc ... cos you get scans dont you? :redface:

Claudette - I agree with Bec, get on that waiting list but in the meantime you can continue with other methods for ttc in the meantime. I hope you get your BFP prior to heading down the IVF path though. But we do what we have to I guess? - That is what my gf said to me on the weekend, I was a little shocked she was not more sympathetic towards how I am feeling atm but I guess she is right at the end of it.

Liz - Sorry about your BFP.... do you think it was too early to test though?
I understand how you are feeling towards your DH not being more interested in the booklets your FS gave you. I remember my gf telling me about their meeting with the nurse at the fertility clinic prior to them starting IUI & her DH HAD to know what was going on b/c he needed to help with the injections! Maybe if you get to that stage your DH will take more notice. The other thing is & sorry if this sounds condesending (it is not my intention) I think we are so much more emotional anyway and think ahead, probably too far ahead when we don't need to & maybe your DH is trying not to get ahead of where you are in your journey? I know that I am always thinking what if we have to do IUI/IVF etc.... but I don't bother discussing it with my DH b/c I know what he will say, we'll deal with it when we get to that point...... Anyway sorry for that long winded text. Thinking of you. x

Bec - Sorry if AF is on her way :S Is it really an issue going back on Clomid after doing the injections? Perhaps some intuition is kicking in? I have heard heaps of + reports about staying on Met whilst ttc & falling pg then weaning yourself off. FX for you, KUP

Porsche - I hope you are ok and that your chat with work is a positive one.

Keli - I get my results on the 8th June. A few friends thought it was a long wait & I should have know straight away. But I was very sleepy and took a long time to feel ok in recovery that I don't think I would have taken much in anyway. I'd rather chat in the OBGYN office about the results and the where to.... I just hope next week hurrys up cos I am a little impatient to get the results. I am actually terrified they won't find anything wrong..... I know if that is the case I will feel like a total failure :S GL with your scan on Friday, KUP

Kris - Welcome to our thread. I hope you can get some answers & your BFP soon. I take Clomid from days 3-7 and have a progesterone test on CD 21 to confirm I have O & what the levels are. I know some have more monitoring, like scans & stuff. Hopefully the other ladies will come in & give you some info on their experience on Clomid.

Miss Kris - I never had scan while taking clomid. All I had was the 21 day B/T. So it's going to depend on what your FS decides to do. Your FS will tell you when to take clomid. it's normally CD2-6 or CD5 - 9. Again it depends on your FS.

Liz - Perhaps your DH is afraid of the costs involved? I know my DH wanted me to do this last clomid cycle to delay the IVF because of the costs. Not that we are worried about money but YKWIM. I could just be he is afraid?
