I was watching a documentry not long ago and they retrieved sperm from a man that either had no sperm count or had a vasectamy, they actually went in through the scrotum (sorry about spellin)i think and they actually got some swimmers so there is deffinately hope for you there

Hope this helps get your chin up a little.

Morning Emily, well I’m glad to hear that I am not the only person without full health over that may need to use IVF. I have been procrastinating with it for months. If me and DH were to go on top cover it would cost around $220 a month and from what I too have heard you don’t get a lot more back regardless. So I haven’t got it yet but people say to me all the time that I should. Can I ask if you know roughly what it is going to cost you out of pocket yet? Not that it matters either way, I know that each and everyone of us would pay the world to get our little bundle of joys but good to know what we may be up for 

Hey Tamarra, how’s everything going with you?

    hi kelly

about the health insurance, i asked my FS if it is worth getting my cousin on full health cover and he said not to worry about it cos will cost more so i think you will be right without it.

Im doing ok, just trying not to think about baby making at all for the moment. I had booked us all into councelling in january but i got a call today saying we might have to do different sessions so im waiting on a call back tomorrow so fingers crossed we can do it all on the same day still.

    Hey Guys,

emily re the IVF cost, i have not long done it, i do not have any private health insurane at the end of it all i was out of pocket around $3000. Not much at all when you think about what is at the end Good luck..

I had my 12 week scan the other day all is perfect, bub is growing nicely and a nice fast heart rate of 154b/m. It was all so amazing we had to wake bubby up to get the nect measurements for the down syndrome test, we saw him/her do a nice big long stretch. It was beautiful. test came back 1 in 17999 chance which we are extremely happy with.
Funny now ppl are starting to put bets ofn the sex due to the heart rate..

Anyway hope everyone is well, and has a fantastic Xmas break..x

    Hi all

Hey Tamarra, thanks for the info about help insurance, I have been stressing about it for ages and now I feel much more at ease that I have made the right choice as it would cost me over $2500 per year to be on full cover for me and hubby anyway. Good luck with the phonecall.

Hey Frustrated, so good to hear from you. Very glad to hear that everything is going well, you sound like you are starting to relax and enjoy the pregnancy which is fantastic. Also thank you for letting us know what it acctually cost you, I get so many hear say confussing stories, its great to hear from someone who has just been through it.

As for me...well I am currently very excited. Whilst I thought I was going to have to wait until mid March for my Lap, I got a phonecall yesterday morning and I am now booked in on Jan 14th. Crazy I know to be excited about surgery but I hate waiting as I'm sure you can all relate to. So now I will continue to stay off Clomid until then, if my period ever arrives. On day 34 now and it still hasn't shown it's ugly head. Might do a test tomorrow just to be sure.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, chat soon.

    Hi ladies

Keli that's great news your lap has been bought forward. I'm booked in for 21 Jan, so please do tell me how it goes. MY FS told me what to expect, but I'd love to hear what happens from someone who goes through it. I've never had an operation before so I'm freaking out a bit. Although I'm looking forward to finding out if there is a reason why I'm not UTD yet.

I completely forgot to ask my FS how much a lap costs - does anyone have any ideas? I have private health insurance, so hopefully that helps with the cost. Or does Medicare cover laps?

My FS gave me an option of taking clomid again before the lap but I decided not too - I think me and hubby deserve to relax over xmas and enjoy a glass or three of wine. Besides, clomid made me go a bit mad so it's nice to have a break!

Emily, all the best with IVF. It's an amazing technology so I have my fingers crossed for you.

    Hey ladies

First off to frustrated, im so excited and relieved for you that your lil bubba is going great - must be such a relief for you

Keli, i spoke to monash today and they are going to do phone councelling sessions for me and my partner and my donor and her partner before the 20th jan so we get one session in then go on the 20th and do the other sessions sigh of relief there.

And Mez Moz, when i had my ovarian drilling - done by lap, i told my dr i have full hospital health cover and he told me not to tell them when i went in (something to do with him getting paid) so i went in as puplic and have not had to pay anything so i think you should be right.

I plan on having a very relaxed and "merry" christmas lol My lovely hubby bought me a spa for christmas so im enjoying it already very relaxing trying to think of nothing.

    Morning Ladies,

Hey Mez Moz, Yeah what’s the deal there? You were supposed to tell me how your lap went to help me prepare for mine, he he, oh well. I have had a colonoscopy before where they sedated me, but I have never been cut open before so not sure how I feel about that. Totally agree though, I am very much looking forward to finding out what’s going on, I’m really in two minds, I want them to find something so there will be an explanation but then again I don’t cos I don’t want anything to be wrong. Oh well, will just have to wait and see. As far as I know if you are going to a public hospital then it won’t cost you a cent but if you go private then it will cost you a bit depending on your excess. I too have decided to stay off Clomid this month again, it’s only 3 ½ weeks to my lap now so there’s really no point and anyway I am loving being a normal person again at the moment.

Hey Tamarra, that is fantastic news about your counselling, I’m so happy for you that it is so soon and you don’t have to wait months and months. Enjoy your spa over Christmas whilst you can, hopefully you won’t be allowed back in there by early next year.

As for me, well AF arrived on Sat morning as I expected, not too bummed about it though cos I’m looking forward to the lap now. Have had horrendous pain and cramps all weekend though (brought me to tears twice) very much over being in pain.

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to a great Christmas and hopefully a break for everyone too.

    Hey ladies

Keli - how good is it being off clomid!!! I'm now looking forward to my lap, despite being nervous about it being my first operation. I found out it's going to cost me around $880 coz it's in a private hospital with my FS doing the lap. It would have cost nearly $3000 if I didn't have insurance! MY FS reassured me that there are still lots of things we can try before IVF which was good to hear, and he said for the 2 months after the lap the chances of falling preggers increase (unless tubes are blocked). So that's good news for both of us. Maybe if you have such intense pain you might have endometriosis??? I'm thinking I might have it given the pain I go through AF comes knocking.

Tammara - hope you are enjoying the spa and you're man is giving you some nice back rubs in it! Good luck with the counselling.

It sounds like January is going to be busy for some of us - 2 laps and IVF counselling. At least things are moving forwards for us all now.

I went to a xmas BBQ on Sunday and it was overrun by my friends with babies or babies on the way. Thankfully most of my friends are tactful when the baby subject comes up and they don't ask too many questions as they know the mission we're going through. And even though I am so happy for my friends, I can't help but feel sad and the whole 'when will it be our turn' thing.

    Have a good xmas ladies!

    Hi Ladies!

i havent been on here in awhile, just wanted to express some of my built up emotions..
Yesterday Hubby & i went to my FS app, 1st time he came with me, i didnt really want him knowing the extent of our problems, does that sound wierd? .. but he was good, he asked questions about everything, more than i would.. she has dbld my Clomid dosage for next month to 100mg, she actually said, if this doesnt work no point in doing 150mg, our next step would be IUI, which she informed me is quiet costly, (not as much as IVF) its $1200, IVF is almost $5000.. Hubby said later on when i was upset, that when we finally do Fall pregs, Itl all be worth it, dont know if its the hormones, but lately i cry at the drop of a hat, more than usual.. does anyone else have a cry with their FS? or is it just me, lol...

iF even ONE person asks "when are we having kids" at family xmas get together,i think im likely to burst out in tears, that or knock someone out!!

anyways, i hope all you beautiful ladies are doing well, & that your special xmas present is on its way! even if its a bit late..

MERRY CHRISTMAS & FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, ALL THE VERY BEST FOR 2010!!

    XOXOXOX

    HI Ladies,

I haven't posted on this thread before, in fact I just found it tonight!

I have been posing on the TTC after m/c.

    So, my story -

I have been TTC since 2008, and earlier this year was very excited to get a BFP, only to lose it at 8w5d. I was diagnosed with thryroid insufficiency, and have been on meds, but still no BFP. FS suggested 2 cycles of clomid and then if no success, IVF as I am 37, and still TTC #1.

I was interested to read all your experiences of clomid:
I found that I was also highly emotional (cried at childrens' TV) and then in a few short moments, wanting to tear my husband's head off.
Bloaty, sore boobs etc and the worst - vaginal dryness resulting in UTI.
I have one more day of the 2ww (and another 5 days of antibiotics) so I am not feeling confident about a BFP, but will be devestated all the same when AF arrives.

    hugs and babydust.

    Hi ladies,

Milly and True Blue, welcome to this thread. I've found it a great thread for venting / info / support.

I've been reading a very funny book called In Vitro Fertility Goddess by Jodie Panayotov. I got it in Borders and highly recommend it for a good laugh. It's a true story of Jodie's TTC journey (she's Australian) and mentions clomid, natural therapies, threads like this and all the mumbo jumbo we go through in our attempts to conceive. Milly, in this book Jodie has a thyroid issue as well.

As I'm not on clomid this cycle I'm unsure when I'm going to O but I think it is about to happen given some of the signs. I know I said I was going to have a break with TTC over xmas and NYE but I can't help but try again, so no drinkies for me tomorrow night!

TrueBlue, when on clomid my temps stay high until AF arrives. Perhaps your thermometer is playing up or you didn't get the prerequisite 4 hours sleep before taking your temp? Or like you said it might be because you haven't O'd yet.

I'm visiting my husband's friend's newborn baby today. I've been putting it off but there's only so long you can do that! I always think I'm going to turn into a mess when I see a baby, but I'm usually OK when I do!

Wishing you ladies a happy 2010 that brings the little bundle of joy you have been hoping for.

    Thanks Mez Moz.

I've been avoiding all babies and pg people too.

That book sounds interesting! I picked one up after FS first suggested IVF, called "legs up laughing" by Vanessa Bates. It sounds a similar story and was very funny too.

News - AF didn't show yesterday, and I had a very VERY faint BFP yesterday afternoon. I tested again this morning and it is still very faint. If it's really real, then I take back all the things I said about "evil clomid"!
I've just been really crampy, and am sure that AF is on her way....

Happy New Year ladies! How was your New Years?

Milly...did AF arrive? I hope not for you!

I O'd on NYE! Did a champagne induced BD then drank more champers throughout the night. For the first time in 9 months I woke up with a hangover and had to have a coffee! I have been soooooo good with my health since TTC, so if I fall preggers this cycle it just proves that doing all the right things WON'T make you pregnant and doing all the WRONG things will! Just look at all those people out there trying NOT to have babies who get UTD!

So now it's the 2WW. I'm so wishing that I do fall pregnant this cycle so I don't have to have my lap in 3 weeks.

    Hi Mez Moz,
I just realised I made a HUGE typo in my last post!! I was so used to writing BFN I again typed BFN when I meant to say BFP - it was a faint BFP! Which then got stronger!! YAY!! So I am officially UTD!! (hence I take back all the things I said about "evil clomid"!)
And Mez - I agree, it's guaranteed that caffine and alcohol will improve your fertility!! This will be your month, just to prove what we have all said about those "not trying" and us who have been doing EVERYTHING!
Happy new year, and babydust everyone!!

Milly that's great news!!! I'm so happy for you! I read back your BFP post and you said you were feeling slightly crampy...did you have AF symptoms and then she never showed? I often wonder how I will be able to tell if I'm UTD as am super hypervigilant with every possible symptom - both for AF and being preggers. How many cycles of clomid had you done?

Keep us posted on your progress Milly. We need good news stories to keep us going!
