Hi everyone, as many of you know, we just had a cycle cancelled as I failed to respond to synarel and my hormones werent baseline. We've since found out I have an ovarian cyst causing the problem.
I am seeing an acupuncturist and naturopath who have both recommended
1) i stick with their treatment for a while before resuming IVF
2) that I am still with a chance of conceiving naturally, especially with their treatment (and because we know my remaining tube CAN work- it did last time)
DH and I would like to give it a go, and just step back from IVF again for now. I have been stressed, but this new plan, and just trying to get everything right and then trying naturally for a few months feels good.
The thing is, Sydney IVF says you have to pay BEFORE you start the stim injections.
So we did that the day before I was due to start, paid in full. The next day I had my blood test and first injection at the same time. That afternoon when the blood results showed the hormones too high, I was put on synarel an extra week...a week later, I again had a blood test, and did an injection, as per instruction...only to get the blood results and be told we had to cancel.
In IVF terms we did not start the cycle...it starts with the injections...therefore we have paid for all the blood tests etc so far. I do however have my pack of injections.
They've now told me we cant proceed until my cyst goes.
If we now say we'd like our money refunded, due to the cycle being cancelled etc, and wanting a break, do we get a refund??
We did IUI but if we werent able to do the IUI (like if i had too few or too many follies) they said they take a small amount to cover procedures already performed (scans etc) and then the balance carried over to the next one. So like a credit, not refund, so theyd probably hold onto it I think.
If you have/had picked up your drugs from the pharmacy then they will charge you to that point in the cycle including the drugs......you should be credited for the medicare item no.s you didn't use, that is the egg pick up, sperm prep and transfer item no.s...unfortunately they are the cheapest part of the cycle.....so don't expect the credit to be huge.
Hi Possums, sorry a bit late for this but I had a cycle cancelled with SIVF and what happened was that they only charged me about $500 which was all fully refunded by Medicare.
