Need advice. What do other TTCers feel about drinking?

For the first twelve months ttc, I didn't have one drop of alcohol, ever. For the last 5 months, and after we had our ttc break, df and I have relaxed that rule to drinking only before ovulation (and from 1 dpo just acting as if I was pg). So, my question is; I have the lovely Rouge's birthday party tonight, and seeing as df and I are staying over I'd really like to drink Problem is, I'm on cd 52 today () and haven't ovulated...well not that I know of. I'm 99% sure I wouldn't be utd. Would you drink, or should I just relax? I know it might seem like a trivial thing, but after 4 m/c's with me being perfect, I don't want to mess any possibilities up by being naughty kwim? I think my chart this month speaks volumes about being annov, but just wanted to get a few opinions

    Hey Punky,
I've never been much of a drinker, always the driver so not drinking has never been a big deal for me.

Ages ago I started a thread about the secret to becoming pregnant and the most common response was a fun night enjoying a few drinks.

I would be concerned if drinking was regular, impacting your over all health. One or two every now and then - I can't see doing any harm.

Hope you have fun at the party.

I agree hun, one night won't make much difference. So many women have no idea they are pg and go on benders and their bubs are ok. I understand your apprehension after so much heartache, but I think relaxing and having a good time is just as important to being healthy as not regularly drinking to excess is. One night every now and then is good for you!

When i first started TTC i was 'off' alchole but over the years have relaxed that and even have one or two in my TWW! its not going to harm you that early and you need to be you still. its all too easy to let this control your life (as i did) and was on a downward spin in the later years with depression.

Have fun tonight, let your hair down, try to enjoy yourself. and if you are lucky this month then that is great but dont stress over keeping your life normal! xx

relax and enjoy the night hun - if you're worried, do a HPT today just to put your mind at ease - if it's negative, it's either negative for this cycle (haven't o'd or haven't caught the egg) or it's too early post ovulation to show up. from all the reading i've done, blood supply sharing doesn't happen until around the 5-6 week mark anyway, by which time it should show on a HPT anyway!

I agree with BG - test now, and if it's neg you should be alright I've said it a trillion times on BB, I got absolutely smashed when I was a week pregnant with Ianto, and until the obvious my pregnancy went without a hitch (unless you could Scott and I "getting hitched" when I was 9 weeks )

I think it's important to relax and enjoyr your life as much as possible, especially when you're TTC long-term. If that means having a drink, then so be it. i very much doubt it'll affect either your chances of falling pregnant or any resulting pregnancy.
    Have some fun
